In steam's controller settings (in big picture mode) you can change the right stick moveset to imitate mouse movement. It removes the stupid speed up of camera and also works for deadzones but since it imitates the mouse - you will see a cursor but only in equipment and options etc. (still can maneuver with your d-pad)
great video that helped explain the concept really well. if someone else is using a ps5 controller and couldn't get this to work, i found a steam config for ps4 controllers called DasBeverage's DS4 dead zone fix. It didn't work, but i changed the left stick's dead zone shape to cross and enable deadzone to configuration in the additional settings and it works almost perfectly. just in case someone else had the same problem as me
Hey man, really good video properly showing the issue at hand. The mod that fixes it for SotFS used to work for me years ago and now it doesn't anymore and people in the nexusmods comments, as well as people under the most popular YT video explaining the mod, have that same issue. You seem to know your stuff, could you by chance look into this? I would love a video on that and I bet a lot of other players too.
Fantastic video - just what I was looking for. Unfortunate theres no fix for acceleration but Ill try this tonight, and if its more like DS1 defo worth a new PT
@@NightWanderer31415 Yes. The antideadzone script I used here can alter the curve using following a power function(x^a, where 'a' controls the intensity of the curve) using the degree value. In the script, degree values under 1(but above 0) will slow down the curve, and values over 1 will speed it up. These are the options this script uses and you can see how they degree option changes the curve.: www.desmos.com/calculator/hlbt068sjo
This is what killed the game for me. It's wierd that whenever i talked to deadzones to other ds2 player they said they dont notice it. No wonder they can enjoy the game.
I've never used the PC fixes. I listed them because it worked for others. Some other possible solutions could be Steam's Input or DS4Windows. Here's a link for one user's Steam solution: steamcommunity.com/app/335300/discussions/0/2425614539578381407/ If you have a PS4 controller another user was able to use DS4Window's antideadzone options to counter it.
They're set up in the same way to circular deadzones, just using the individual X/Y values rather than the stick position. Could be another dev set it up, or the engine defaulted to that and it just carried through development. It sucks 2 is the odd one out in the series, but square deadzones are very common in games.
Well to be fair, every other aspect if this game is of a similar quality and functionality. It was a hard pill to swallow that the sequel to my favorite game is terrible, but once I accepted it I moved on and never went back. I might go back if modders figure out how to polish this turd.
Square deadzones are extremely common in games. Could be a different programmer who set it up, or some engine default that got carried through production. It's unfortunate DS2 is the odd one out in the series, but countless other developers do the same.
For the horizontal camera speeds specifically, this fix works really well for me: www.reddit.com/r/DarkSouls2/comments/jw5t6h/using_rewasd_to_fix_camera_speed_being_slow_then/
This is a really great demonstration of the deadzone fix mod, better than much more popular videos.

Can you use the TitanTwo to configure custom sensitivity curves for the left and right sticks?

@@EternalDahaka thanks for a reply I have sorted it and got it working
This is ridiculous. Git gud they said… How did they come with that controls model? It’s crappy, feels clunky and ruins gaming experience.

Git gud Peter. I bet u jump in da lava in the Iron keep.
@Michael Harrington It shouldn't be up to the player to fix.

@@rswindol thx god was a different game. i don't wanna play the same shit over and over.
How could they fuck up something so fundamental so badly?
