Wow, I can't believe you're back! I've been periodically checking your channel over the past few years to see if you posted anything (subbed years ago), and was shocked when I saw this. I remember watching your videos when I was in high school, now I'm a first year med student. Your videos, especially the ones about your rotation experiences, definitely impacted my interest in medicine. I'm sorry to hear about your experience with your program. That definitely sounds rough. Thank you for the update and the great content overall!
So cool to hear your update! Seems like a theme among the comments but I watched your videos prior to applying to medicine and now I'm pgy4 in emerg. My daughter was 2 when I started med school so I definitely hear you when you talk about there being a real cost of pursuing this work. Happy to hear you're arriving at a workable life in medicine. 💖
Really glad to see you again doing well. I very much can relate to the overall life cost of training in a demanding program. I did urology for two years until I realized how this has affected my mental and physical well being. So i dropped my program and joined family medicine program. I can confidently say my life had never been better. Again, really happy to see you again doing well.
Yeah, unfortunately it's the kind of thing you can't really understand until you're in it. Good for you recognizing your own needs and doing what was necessary to keep yourself healthy
Hi, PGY1 in CA here. Watched you since undergrad. Did my match letter opening exactly same as you. Got my #1 categorical and #2 prelim. Happy to see you back
Hi, i am a long time listener, but i never commented before. Yes, please do some more videos and tell us what you are doing. Congrats on the kids! how old are they now? So, what do you do each day, how about giving us a typical day of your life today. Are you being a doctor part time? or what? This comment is July 10 2024. Love Ya!!
Holy cow im just now seeing this. I subscribed years ago and watched your channel when I was in my pre med program. My life has taken a drastic turn from that. I dont know why I decided to check your channel again but im glad I did. Lol Im glad your alive.
I am so glad to see you are through the other side of that black hole called Surgery residency. :0) I hate it that your program screwed you out of plastics. I can't imagine having to try and keep up with videos and do a surgical residency. I often wondered how you were doing over the past few years. I was delighted when I got an e-mail saying you posted another video. Happy holidays!
Thank you! I'll admit, it didn't need to be as crushing a blow as it was but like I said, I didn't take it well lol. And as things worked out, I may be better off where I'm at now. I'll probably get into that after the holidays. Thanks for your support!
I watched all of your videos while I was trying to make a decision about specialty. I really appreciate your honesty and I’m so glad to hear from you again! Can’t wait for new videos!
So glad to see that you are okay and made it through your training (both the good and bad)! I started watching your videos in high school because I knew I wanted to be some kind of doctor working in mental health. I’m now doing my PhD in clinical neuropsychology!
Oh, so cool to see this! Thanks for giving an update!! I started watching you back as a 1st year med student I believe and now I'm graduating from a Urological Surgery residency next month. I love that you still have that couch & congrats on all of the success/being happy in general in life. Did you end up doing General Surgery alone or did you do some sort of other (non-plastics) fellowship? Thanks again for the update - very cool!
I remember seeing your last video in my last year of high school, being very inspired by you, studying to get into med school. Now I am 6th year medical student in Poland, almost a doctor. And I have the same problems. Always wanted to be a general surgeon, but now seeing how hard it is, I really think about becoming radiologist. Better lifestyle, hours, money, being home on time. Waiting for more videos. Thanks for update.
Great to hear from you! I have been watching for years and periodically checking in. Is your husband practicing in Obs/Gyne now too? Good for your for persevering through the time times!
She has no clue how important she is to us. She really changed my life. She caused me to believe I could be more than what I was. I wish she’d make more posts. At 1 least every Christmas lol Season.
DoctorishQ I will say this; I remember watching your videos when I was pursuing my nursing degree. It didn’t work out for me and that’s okay but your videos were very informative at that time. Didn’t know that I was still subscribed to your channel but anyways cheers to you and happy holidays.
@@lopez9245 thank you! You as well. I know it's cliche but everything seems to happen for a reason. Even if nursing wasn't your thing, something else will come along. Best 💚
Stayed in general surgery. Now private practice... Gallbladders, hernias, lumps and bumps. Now that I have kids, I just want the small, easy cases. Low stress, good hours, home on time

Thank you! And congrats on med school! Choose carefully when applying to residency, the calculus in your 30s is so much different than in your 20s lol
What?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Welcome back!
Thanks!

So, what type of surgery did you end up going in to?
Stayed in general surgery. Now private practice... Gallbladders, hernias, lumps and bumps. Now that I have kids, I just want the small, easy cases. Low stress, good hours, home on time
