    My bow built with Clay is waiting in anticipation for tomorrow mornings opening day of Indiana bow season. An experience i will never forget. Very few masters of there craft left in this world. Clay is one and a good dude to boot.

      I was ready for opening day here in Indiana then I broke my bow string! Now Saturday I have to go to the bow shop and start over

    • @darktimber3340
      @darktimber3340 3 роки тому +3

      The process of building your own string really only takes about the determination of a day and some fairly cheap supplies. The reward for me is not having to depend on someone else to build a flemish twist which I probably couldn't find in my area anyway. Also, a spare doesn't take up much weight in a pack.

    • @notapplicable531
      @notapplicable531 3 роки тому +2

      @@darktimber3340 A spare is a must. It's also a good idea to alternate using them so that both stretch and wear the same amount.

    I built church furniture for years and was voted #1 in California and 8th in the nation by woodworking magazine. I have never built a bow but I'm definitely going to. I've watched all your bow building videos and I gotta say you are the best at teaching this skill you have. watching you explain this to these guys is absolutely awesome. what's really cool is I understand everything you are saying about the wood. This is just cool man. keep on keeping on man.

    HI, Mr. Clay. Firstly, thank you so much for all of your videos! I really enjoy bow making videos, and your hunting videos are pretty cool too. I saved up money for wood and tools mowing my Grandpa's lawn, and I've tried to build three board bows with success only once. I managed to make a dog-bone backed Red Oak board bow, 43# at 29 inches. Anyway, I've always wanted to make a bow out of an actual bow stave, but I've never had the opportunity. What are the legalities behind just cutting down trees, and where could I find some osage or other good bow making woods? I'm located near Central Florida. Thank you so much! Have a nice day.

    Mighty fine Clay...MIGHTY FINE. Got a nice buck waiting for you. With your name on it. Any time. Proud of you. Humble...yet direct. The passion from the tree...to it's final fling. Life is good. I like your style brother. Always have. Many thanks for sharing the family life, too. He continues to bless you...yet tests you. I admire the fact...like your bow...how you grip it. You may miss sometimes...correct it...make it better.
    Then to share his given talents...has...will...made the man you are. There are legends in mind...or legends in time. Prefer the later...Brother
