I am 70yo. This reminds of when I was 15 with friends in the neighbors pasture shooting our self bows but without the range finder. Lots of fun for hours. Then we also hunted squirrels and rabbits in the woods together. We brought home quite a few. ... Thanks for the memories.
Enjoyed this video Clay. I love stump shooting. I have always used 6 arrow bow quivers and carry 4 arrows with broad heads and two with judo points. After a morning hunt every now and then I like to pick out something and shoot the two judo point arrows before leaving the tree stand. I also stump shoot my way back home cutting milkweed stalks in half.
thanks guys, VERY entertaining video. friendly competition on the range always improves our skill set clay always informative, thank you guys from New Zealand 💖
In fly fishing there is a product called "gink" you apply to dry flies to waterproof them. I wonder if that would work on fletchings? They're both feather so its worth a shot lol
I’m not much of a traditional bow man but I fish a lot. Try Fly Agra, that stuff works like a charm. If you fish for more 4 hours you have to reapply!😂
@@bryanowen2881 lol should've known another fly fisher would hop in and say to use something else 🤣 Seems to be a common trait in fishermen haha On a side note, I may try that Fly Agra when my gink runs out.
Hey Clay, make me a bow! I’ll pay ya for it. Lol. I watched you on alone and rooted for ya because you talk like me hahahaha. I can detect a lil southern accent in your voice.
There’s no set time or amount of shots. All I can say is my oldest Osage self bow is going on 9 years old and has been shot 10s of thousands of times and I plan to shoot it for the rest of my life. It’s on its second string as a dog chewed up the original lol. There’s a lot variables to it tho.
Big fan of your channel, I just stumbled on to it a few weeks ago and have since watched several of your videos. I have shot a long bow for about 10 years. I noticed in one of your videos when the camera was zoomed in close that you have a red wrapping around your bow string at eye level. Is this being used as an alignment sight sort of like a shotgun with multiple beads on the barrel?
Another great vid man! Hey, there was one you put out years ago about cooking chicken in a Dutch oven underground... can't seem to find it. Do you remember the name?
Wondering if you Guy's ever tried Instinctive Shooting like the old Archers, Howard Hill, Fred Bear, Pope & Young, Ishi etc ? Eye Barreling with three fingers under the arrow is aiming with the arrow, instead of picking a spot on the target/animal you want to hit. This type of aiming works, but in my experience and many old Traditional Archers/Bowhunters Instinctive shooting was preferred.
I watched your video on making a bow in 24H. I'd like to see a bow making video in like a survivor video. Like if you're stuck in die forest and only had n knife and Ferro rod. Could you make a bow that will last long enough.

Sounds like it would. I may check into that
@@shanedarden5238 if you do, it doesn't take much. I think a bottle would last several seasons. I hope it does the trick! 👍🏼
@@WoodsGhost thanks

I really miss doing this. Used to spend hours alone or with friends. Now the public land is closed to it as they say it's target practice
Tell them your hunting small game 🤷♂️
Stumping is one of my favorite things to do. If I have to pick between stumping and 3D, stumps win.
Stump shooting with friends, it don't get much better!

My favorite way to shoot. Great video!
I like to walk around my yard and shoot at the gophers. Trust me, they have nothing to worry about 😁
Great shot for that thistle weed Clay!

So how long can you expect a selfbow to last? How many shots can you expect to get out of it?
Alot
Enough
Long
as long as the string will...? makes sense to me lol

After hitting the first turd, my anchor point would have to change for the rest of the day...
