    • Iveco Daily/Fiat Ducat...
    Not an update on my van build, but more of a "how to do video" on the timing belt & water pump change on the 2005 Iveco Daily 2.3 Litre Diesel power plant, which it Shares with the Fiat Ducato.
    Shopping list to carry out the "Timing Belt Replacement.

    I'm currently converting my 2005 "Iveco Daily" XLWB van into to a camper van, now fully repainted in a Nato light stone colour. Im currently repainting the chassis, carrying out welding repairs to the underside of the body, and spraying on stone chip.
    You can follow my van build on Instagram.

    Due to the weather ( raining on and off ) I decided to carry out the timing belt and water pump change, and in this episode shows how I carried out this task.
    Admittedly this is an long video! And may not be in your interest in viewing if your not intending to change the timing belt and water pump yourself !
    The van shares the same 2.3 litre diesel engine as the "Fiat Ducato" (Ram ProMastervan "USA version "). In this episode I show an indepth step by step guide on how I changed the timing belt, pulleys and also the water pump. So this maybe of some intrest to you if your thinking of doing the task yourself, Id personally would set aside an full day to carry out the timing belt and water pump change. ( it took me around 4 hours in completing the job, but I had already removed the front of the van beforehand. )
    Iveco Daily 2.3 litre diesel engine timing belt change intervals - 150.000 miles or every 5 years ( or which ever comes first ).
    Fiat Ducato 2.3 litre diesel engine timing belt change every - 5 years.

    After my auxiliary belt tensioner pulley catastrophically failed today and shredded the belt, replacing the timing belt and associated gubbins has entered my to do list - don't really want it to fail like my VW T4's one did, where the water pump took out the timing belt! This is a cracking video and will make the task much, much easier when I get to it. Thank you!

      I have a 2011 Ducato and it's a piece of cake compared to the Iveco. The chassis leg is literally no problem. Just drop the engine enough so you can see the crank bolt or get a right angle impact gun.
      If you want a ton of fun with either of them, do yourself a brake vacuum pump.

    Great video, followed this while changing a diesel pump on a 2008 2.3.It was a but of a mission to get the crank and diesel pump pulley so managed to get a harmonic balancer puller from machine mart and a universal pulley holder tool from Amazon and made the work a lot easier.I would advice anybody tackling this please do yourself a favour and get these tool to save yourselfs a bit of time and damage.Otherwise I really do appreciate this video can't thank you enough mate.

At 6ft you'd be able to stand up in mine but you would catch your head on the skylight surround, so I'd probably only use 25mm PIR for the flooring, cheers matey 😉👍👍👍.

I can see where the other two pulleys have been marked up before but cant find a corresponding mark for the fuel pump pulley mark, I took a pic before I took the belt off, but there's no guarantee ill be able to get it back to the exact same tooth on the belt.

    First of all thank you so much for this wonderful video, for me its more helpful then all the papers and documents out there. Unfortunately I am facing a problem. Because I couldn't get the crankshaft pulley of, I talked to Iveco, they recommended to take out that 19mm bolt, which I did. But then the whole crankshaft drive pulley came of too. The belt didn't fall of the pulley, after realizing what happened I put the pulley with the belt on back on. Now I am just scared that I changed the position of the pulley or the crankshaft. Is that possible? I will have to put the bolt on again with 200nm thats for sure but I can just hope that the position is still ok. Do you have any advice? I hope my English is understandable, thank you so much for your help! FOR EVERYONE DOING THIS JOB; DO IT EXACTLY AS SHOWN IN THIS VIDEO! even Iveco was bullshiting me...cheers!

      You should be fine by placing a timing tool on the crank locking that into position (or an 9mm drill bit) and making sure that the timing is aligned and locked into position on the cam pulley. Fixing the crank drive back on and torqued back up😉👍, I used a small wire brush on a drill to clean up the bolts on the crank pulley and soaked that area with WD40 over night, still took some work in removing that pulley by working it off the crank though 😉👌👍👍👍.

    After the second lot of 8 rotations, it looks like the belt is sitting proud of the cam n crank pulley by about 3-5mm and then you say to make sure the belt is set back on all the pulleys. Do you loosen the tensioner pulley agin to push the belt back on??

    • @Iveavan

      Was your compressor wheel broken up or worn on the pressure side of the turbo prior to changing it bud?

      @@Iveavan hi thanks for replying old turbo was OK a think just going off what a was told am starting to think the garage where a took it to get remapped haven't done it properly as my friend got his done and a week later it blue the engine a just found out last night so going to take exhaust off and check dpf do ya think this could be the problem thanks

      @@michaellambert5191 no worries bud, to be without seeing it person it's gonna be hard for me to pin point the issue upon here to be fair, but if you work your way backwards (with blue smoke sounds like an oil leak) see if it improves by removing the oil filler cap, that'll tell you whether there's an issue with the crank breather, (what with you saying it's leeking oil in the cambelt area) then I'd work my why back looking at that DPF that you bypassed, if that seems to be OK then I'd be inclined to remove the exhaust manifold bud 😉👍.

      @Iveavan  5 років тому

      Hi Terri
      I have two. one runs (serpentine belt) the alternator, power steering and cooling fan (pulley) , the other one (small ribbed belt), just runs the air con pump. (unless you mean on the timing belt side did you?🤔) 👍👍

    • @terriovington6241
      @terriovington6241 5 років тому

      Wow i wasnt actually expecting a reply so soon.. i just chanced it because you seem to know your stuff thank you :). It's definitely nothing to do with the timing belt... what happened is the alternator belt came off (pulley/ tensioner thing broke) and the van still runs with no belt on, but the van is now making a lot of knocking noise from the top of the engine which it didn't do before..so I wondered if it also powered the oil pump because I can't work out why it's now suddenly tapping ...obviously it's not been driven like this the engine was turned off as soon as the fault was noticed the engine did start to get too hot but I pulled over before it actually over heated.

    • @Iveavan
      @Iveavan  5 років тому

      @@terriovington6241 I've had it before where the engine has over heated and it starts knocking and gargling, but tapping sounds from the top end could be the hydraulic tappets or something like that (without seeing or hearing it, it's a bit hard to pin point) but the aux belts don't drive the engine's oil pump, is it still doing when it's cold too Terri?
