Totally agree with ya kev about cam belt .when the time comes for us to get ours it will be a 6mtr van that's the first thing to check and replace if necessary.

It is really helpful when you walk us round the vans, we are looking to buy a 4 berth and there are so many layouts. Love the Autotrail F60 and the Roller team T Line 590 is nice too. Shame you are up north and I’m down south, a bit of a long drive😆

I see the VW captive breeding programme is progressing well.
Cambelt failure is signalled by the "kill engine" light coming on. Just had mine done on my 66k mile Duster as it was due. Local garage did oil and filter service new cam belt and water pump for £390 all in. As you say cheapest way is regular maintenance NOT regular fixes after component failure.

Cambelt failure is generally signalled by a catastrophic 'bang'.

Cheers Kevin I enjoyed your walkabout and seeing the selection of vans & motorhomes available to buy. Sound advice with regards to regular cambelt & tensioner replacement, it's so important and the water pump at the same time as Adam was explaining, it's false economy not to do it at the same time because otherwise you end up paying twice! 👍

Depends on what van you have as the intervals are different but it can be anywhere from 4-10 years depending on the type. Most commonly they need changing every 5 years

@@TheMotorhomeMan hi there , we’ve got an 11yr old Autotrail Arapaho which has done 28,000 miles in total so would you advise on getting the cam belt or chain as I’m not sure what’s on the engine chained or not.
