Yep, back when "Knight Rider" was on, they came up with this show about a helicopter that had similar abilities, then came "Airwolf". However, a little trivia. The "Blue Thunder" film was actually made in 1981, but not released until 1983. So who actually stole ideas from who?
Actually, the "BLUE THUNDER" movie came first. That inspired the network to go forward with "AIRWOLF". However, "BLUE THUNDER" the TV show made it to the air first by a few weeks. Both programmes were about people flying helicopters to keep the peace, i.e. "blowing things up real good". But "AIRWOLF" won out with a better cast and storyline as well as a plum time slot on a stronger network. James Farentino could still kick Jan-Michael Vincent's butt any day though!

Ha Party on Garth. Had no idea. Mind blown.
Game on Garth
I thought that Dick Butkus was part of "Blue Thunder". He was a legend even then. He will be sorely missed.
The Church Lady was a former helo pilot. 😮
He was a JAFO: Just another “frustrated” observer.
Carvey was darn good on this. The cast had really good chemistry.

THIS MUSIC CLIP IS DEDICATED TOO ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN OF LAWENFORCEMENT
Loved blue thunder, but its theme music wasnt on a par with airwolf, knightrider and a team.
Come dan let me fix those for you
It was a poor version of Airwolf.
It predates Airwolf, for it's based on a Roy Scheider/Malcolm McDowell movie that was originally conceived as an aerial version of Taxi Driver.
