Wow! What a nostalgia! A time before my worst mistakes... So I used to be free. But not anymore. This kind of game brings back the magic of those lights and sounds when young passions, desires, hope and motivation where still around... Thank you for keeping those momories alive.
Thank you SOOOOO much for posting this! I only played this once in an arcade in the mid-80s, and the theme has been in my head ever since, as clear as day.
Afterwards you find out you ran out of fuel... and you watch your car slow down and finally get crushed by devil cars, then face the inevitable game over
my little cousin is was playing this on a Pac-Man controller I got for Christmas. ever since he saw me playing this, every time he comes over, he says "I wanna play race cars"
I fondly recall having played Rally X at my local shopping centre as a kid - Bulleen Village (later years renamed Bulleen Plaza) for 20 cents a game after school- classic games - classic childhood memories! Thanks for uploading.🎉
Man ,I used to play this game back in the 80’s in Apopa city. El Salvador ,I was 10 year old .there was this little place across from Central Park Let me tell you .we used to have so much fun even just watching other kids playing .even though we were poor I dad a beautiful childhood
played it like hell throughout the 80s, got here now only because somehow the song started to autoplay in my head. it's september 2017. something that resilient after decades without any airplay can only be an ungodly making.
game top, acordava no sabado de manhã é pegava meu paizinho jogando na sala, eu ficava horas vendo ele jogar, esse joguinho me lembra minha infancia..... parabens

I had the music stuck in my head and the memory of the cars .... and then it occurred to me to come to UA-cam as I didn’t remember the name of the game.... scrolling around pffffff there it is !!! memories of the arcades that were in the hotel where we use to go with my family . Happy days ! I was very young ! I remember having a go but my brothers would play the most and that’s if dad would give em money ... knowing my dad he wouldn’t like to waste money in arcades !! Tight bastard hahahahaha
I'm like the blue car whenever I go to Walmart, going around the store farting smelly farts in the isles represented by puffs of smokes while the red cars are the cops and employees attempting to stop me !
Eu lembrava até hoje da música. A gente chamava esse jogo de "carrinho que solta alface". (I remembered the music until today. We use to call this game the "car that drop lettuce").

IIRC this is the game that had its debut at an arcade show at the same time as Defender, and all the industry people thought this one would be huge and Defender would bomb because it was too complicated.
Oh my gudness seeing this game after 30 years i was dying to play this game lot of time i stole money from my mom purse to play this game golden period god plz send me back in 80s 😂😂😂😂😂😂

This music sounds so much better than the original Rally-X's music. That sounds unfinished.
Edit (4/17/21): In my opinion.

Man japanese created many many many awesome Arcade games in the 80s.
This game gives me anxiety because of that darned red car stalking you throughout the game
I'm like the blue car whenever I go to Walmart, going around the store farting smelly farts in the isles represented by puffs of smokes while the red cars are the cops and employees attempting to stop me !

In the USA, Midway only sold New Rally X as upgrade kits for the original Rally X. feels neat...
I Played it 30 years back ❤❤❤ 😅
IIRC this is the game that had its debut at an arcade show at the same time as Defender, and all the industry people thought this one would be huge and Defender would bomb because it was too complicated.
Glozwell Actually it was the original Rally-X that was at that show not this version.
There is a harder version of this on Ridge Racer 2 for PSP: All the Red Cars are replaced with the Devil Cars: They are MUCH faster!

1:39 the sound heard when a special flag has been held by your fighter in super smash bros. for 3DS/wii U and super smash bros. ultimate for enough time that it gives you a KO or an extra stock
And in Xevious too when you use your bombs on certain areas that reveal special flags and then picked up for an extra life
