- So you have an 18 month old toddler now! This is such a fun age and an amazing time to watch your child grow dramatically. It's also a good time to look for any early indicators of possible need of interventions! In this video, I'll walk you through the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3) for you 18 month old toddler, which includes developmental milestones and activities for your child. This questionnaire is used by pediatric offices, state programs, and hospitals to measure growth. I really think you'll find it helpful, as I know I did! As always though, check in with your pediatrician if you are concerned about anything!

We're a little behind with communication but he's excelling in majority of everything else. Part of it being because I haven't taught him how to do a few things yet.

This came up in my suggested. It was perfect because I work at a daycare as a sub mostly with the waddlers (around one). We have a girl who can't walk yet. She's almost 18 months. I am going to have to try to hone in on gross motor for her when I have her in my care.

There is such a broad range of what is normal! I think it’s really important for us to consider that they may not be doing one particularly “large” milestone, but it does not necessarily mean that they are behind!

My 18 month old does all these except the drinking from a cup without spilling. We’re still working on that.
I know this is an older video, but I just wanted to ask - when within the 18th month should I be concerned about a score? My daughter is turning 18 months in 3 days time, and she's scoring really highly on most of these except for fine motor which is a 25, so really close to the cutoff!
Does stacking rings count for stacking toys? We never used the cups but have ordered them. And we just got blocks but she downs there about them too much.

Does pointing with whole hand count as pointing?
It does! This milestone looks for intent, and showing you what you asked for or what they want is exactly what you’re looking for!
Hello my child is 18m old and shes already knows all the alphabes + numbers up to 20. When we walk on the street if she saw signs like "2A" she will say it outloud "2-A"! She can count to 20 because we live in a 20 story building and whenever we enter the elevater i point to the floor number for her to count.
She also knows a lot of other things like: taking pictures / selfies of herself with my iphone/ doing timelapse etc ... running/ clibing on stair without help/ form a sentence like: can I destroy it? ( I build tower and she loves pushing it to ground) She tells lies a lot like pretend to be hurt so I will let her do her favorite things. She can use subject to step on it and climb to get what she wants above...she loves play pretend eating food in picture books. She can ask questions like" what fruit is this?" ...
She loves playing with water. She named me her mother "tetum". Its the sound of water splash. Since I introduced her first to play with water. She named her dad "Bi", which means "hold me" in out native language. When he comes home, it makes noise at the front door. Then she told me it's "Bi" and ran toward the door.
Shes also tells me she feels hot, where is the fan? Then she goes turn the fan on by plugging in the socket, of course she knows how to turn the switch.

Your pediatrician should have all of the lists and you can absolutely request it!
Seems a little excessive not all babies are the same. These types of videos can cause so much anxiety for first time moms.
There is no expectation that a child can do all of these. If anything, it eased my mind as a first time parent to a NICU grad. I knew if my daughter was above the cutoff score for a developmental area, even if she could not master all of the individual skills yet, we were still on track.

My son ( 16 months) does 80% -90% except he won’t let go of my hand walking - he also doesn’t go get his shoes etc … but he does get the ball. I truly believe some kids will excel in certain areas over others that doesn’t mean they are delayed etc. it’s like adults some can dance very well and others have two left feet doesn’t mean they are lame or dumb etc. Or for example, some adults are horrible with extra version we call them introverts… that doesn’t mean something is wrong with them etc.
These cutoff scores are very low. The child only has to do 2-3 in each category and there are a lot more than that. Any child that doesn’t have that 2-3 per category does need intervention. Waiting it out is not recommended when they are behind on milestones.
@sondrahull5970 so don't watch videos like these. Leave to parents that don't mind. I never understood why so many parents are so negative and leave negative comments online.😂
These videos are meant well but are so horrible to watch for people who are anxious lol
