My home economics teacher (remember them?) taught this piecing method for 4-patches, back in the day. I still have the pin cushion I made (about 40 years ago!) from two of them.
This is perfect...I need to make an Irish Chain quilt for my daughter for Christmas and this will make it a breeze! Thanks for the great inspiration!!!
Hey Kimberly. This is so cute. Thank you for showing us this quilt. What is the name of the quilt pattern you chose for this quilt? Thanks again for showing us this quilt.
Hello! I hope you are having a great day. I was visiting my grandkids and now have a bad head cold. So I get to sit and watch your videos with a hot cup of tea. I hope you have a beautiful week ahead. Thank you for sharing this video!
I love this pattern!!! Howe, when telling people to lower their stitch length from a 2 to a 1.5 is fine, but if your normal stitch length is 1.5 is it really necessary to lower it to a 1.2? A stitch length of 2.0 to 1.5 should work for anyone.
Love your short cut quilt patterns! I doubt I would press open but, in this case, it doesn't look like it would matter. The end result is so very pretty!
@@lisareed5669 That's very interesting. The one I made like this worked out beautifully with the seams pressed to the side. Like Kimberly says, it's all personal preference.
@@GinaTellThreadGraffiti Thsnk you so much. The quilt is just beautiful and the quilting just enhances it even more. I have a patriotic quilt to quilt for July 4th and this would be a great pattern for it! Thank you for sharing.
How cool! I am really excited about this. Thanks. This is very doable for newbies such as myself. Love all these tips and instructions. Thanks, Kimberly.
Hello Donna! We provide links to the supplies used in the description box underneath each video where it says "Show More". Here is a link to the free pattern: bit.ly/39d2WGP Here are the finished sizes Crib - 40.5" x 40.5" Lap - 40.5" x 56.5" Twin - 64.5" x 80.5" Queen - 80.5" x 80.5"
Do you recommend starching fabric before or after you cut? I worked on a quilt where I starched and my blocks did not square up. I had some blocks that shrunk almost half an inch. Not sure if my error was in starching before or after cutting. I assume that is what caused the shrinking of my fabric. Or am I using too much starch? Help :-(
Hello FireflyDreams*! We recommend starching before you cut your fabric. Starching does cause fabric to shrink but it also helps Kimberly make more accurate cuts.
Irish chain is one of my favorites. You've made this so easy!! I have plenty of charm packs and a 4 day weekend starting Friday so you know what I'll be doing - thanks!!
Kimberly, if I purchase the kit (registration for when it comes out in July) am I correct that all I’d need extra to complete the quilt for making it would be a Bella solid and the backing that is suggested for the kit? Everything else comes in the kit? Correct? If so what’s the Bella solid you used?
Hello Connie! If you purchase the quilt kit you will receive the fabric needed to make the quilt top: bit.ly/3OZTiaS We have a backing set available separately bit.ly/3scy9Ri
I love this pattern. I have a charm pack I got from FQS, Corey Y, springbrook, which background do you recommend? I usually see you with solids tops, I love this blouse on you Kimberly, you look so beautiful. 🙂
I’m pretty sure she used yardage and starched. Her fabric is too stiff to be a non-starched charm pack… and it wasn’t shrank in one direction. The pinked edges disappeared 😂
Hello moogiepet! Kimberly starched the fabric from the kit which includes a charm pack and yardage. bit.ly/3OZTiaS And she trimmed off the pinked edges.

This is a must do, I have Halloween fabric stash and can use some up. Thanks Kimberly🤗

Very cute quilt in any theme/colorway ! Thank you
As a new quilter, this is so easy to follow. My order is in!!! Thank you
Love the juxtaposition of the curvy quilting with the excellent square piecing. Dynamic!
Fabulous quilt and looks so easy, thank you for demonstrating ❤
Love this simple pattern that has a great impact visually. I might do this with my Christmas Flannel charm packs. Thank you Kimberly.
Very cool! Definitely a shortcut with beautiful end result!
EASY AND PRETTY. THANK YOU SO MUCH FQS AND KIMBERLY
Thank you for another great quilt pattern and for giving it away for free. Appreciate all you do for us quilters.
Great, fun quilt, Kimberly. Thank you!

Hello Sherry! A 1.5 is fine. We try not to assume what stitch length everyone uses so when Kimberly says that it is a generalization.
Love your short cut quilt patterns! I doubt I would press open but, in this case, it doesn't look like it would matter. The end result is so very pretty!
Her whole point was that it does matter on this.
@@lisareed5669 That's very interesting. The one I made like this worked out beautifully with the seams pressed to the side. Like Kimberly says, it's all personal preference.
Yeah, I like to spin my seams on this sort of block. It's just what look you're trying to achieve and how much bulk you're willing to put up with.
Love this pattern! What is the name and creator of the pattern this quilt was longarm quilted with?
I quilted it with the Good Vibrations1 digital panto, you can find it on Urban Elementz :)

Another great quick and scrappy quilt!! Thanks for always stocking my head with new ideas! And who doesn't love a good Irish Chain!!
Very cute! I have to know…where did the pinked edges go? They were there until the twosies became foursies.
Hello Sue! Kimberly trimmed off the pinked edges.
@@FatQuarterShopTX Thank you. Did that change the size of the blocks? I have the hardest time with those.
Thank you. Excellent as usual
Loved the video. My best summer memory was going to my great aunt 's house in upper Michigan. We would stay in her RV. Good times.
Even though I have quilted for a few years, I can’t resist a chain quilt or 4 patches!!!

I want to see more livestreams with what’s new, scrappy ideas, quilts that are made. I love getting inspired by you!
I can't find the pattern. How big is this quilt? Thank you
Hello Donna! We provide links to the supplies used in the description box underneath each video where it says "Show More". Here is a link to the free pattern: bit.ly/39d2WGP Here are the finished sizes
Crib - 40.5" x 40.5"
Lap - 40.5" x 56.5"

I sure wish the back of my blocks looked like yours! No threads, perfect seams and perfect squares
Hi Kimberley, I really enjoyed that tip. Makes great patterns. Thanks for sharing. Xx🇦🇺
Thank You Kimberly ❤️ Chris-Raleigh NC
Do you measure from the point of the pinked edge or the valley of the pinked edge?
Great tutorial as usual for this remarkable lady. Yay, Kimberly.
I love this I have always wondered what to do with ONE charm pack😂
Thank you Kimberly this looks like a nice quilt to make. This is the next one.
