I passed in Basildon last January! And was looking around at the cars here to see if I was picked up in someone else's video like I was when I was driving Xmas day haha. Yeah it's a mad one to learn in but I had a thorough instructor. I didn't end up going on the big A-Roads on my test (A13/A127/A130) but did a bunch of the dual carriageways within Basildon like Broadmayne, Upper Mayne, East Mayne, and Cranes Farm Road. It is definite a challenge learning there but you get used to it! BTW there is a width restrictor within the test routes in Laindon on the tiniest link road between roads imaginable
been living in Basildon for all my life and seeing that this is the most fearful really doesn't surprise me. I'm 17 in about 2 months but luckily I'm very familiar to the roads
I went on a 2 week intensive course in Basildon starting from scratch in September. The biggest issue with Basildon is the lane management, other drivers and mostly speed limits changing rapidly, you can be on a 50 road that looks like a 30mph zone, and a 30mph zone which looks like a 50 zone. My examiner was sound and couldn't fault him - he was also a bike examiner. I passed my test with 4 minors, 2 for breaking (got too close to the car infront on the 50 roads coming up to the round abouts as it was my first time driving in the rain), and my test was at 7.15 in the morning so it wasn't dark but wasn't bright. Overall, it's not a bad area to drive now when I occassionally have to go there, but during my lessons, I was bricking it each time!
I live in Basildon have done my whole life I’m 32 😂 I passed my test in November and I never thought it was that bad, that round about you went on with the faded road markers where you went in the left only lane and went straight ahead is the first round about I hit at my test and I hesitated twice and got marked down for minors as it’s so busy at 9am and there’s so many Lorrie’s and vans and cars 😂😂 I had a shakey leg hahaha x
I passed in Basildon second time (both times in Basildon). I agree with everything you said 😂 it’s not fun. @@DrivingSchoolTV So often they will get you to do either.a reverse bay park or a forward bay park in the basildon sports centre and finding space back into that road isn't the easiest. Basildon is the nearest centre to where my dad lives and the only place i could find a test. So what i did is stay with my dad for a week and had 6 hours of lessons with an instructor in basildon before the test. I feel a bit prouder after seeing how difficult you thought the area was 😆
@The_Real_Persian_FoxI passed today in automatic. Some people can be snobby about it, I don’t care. Will get me where I want to be, that’s all I care about. Good luck!
Well not a serious, probably a minor for planning. It's not a serious because he didn't blindly go forward on a left turn. He checked his right mirror and signalled right and for all intents and purposes, changed lanes. It'd be different if he hasn't realised it was left turn only and went straight without checking mirrors or indicating
Disobeying a road marking wether you affect another vehicle or not is an automatic fail. If you get into the situation I did your only option is to go the way the road marking tells you to
i passed here in a manual first time with 0 faults. I live a 10 minute drive from there so wasn’t 100% familiar with some of the roads. There are loads of roundabouts where the left hand land is left only and hard junctions.
My 17 year old son passed his car test there First time and his small 125 cc motorbike test there to he did the bike test for something to do again at 17
Mate, that person crossing the road just before finishing the roundabout 😮, what a dangerous spot is that? I don't think that's a pedestrian crossing. Just imagine that in the dark? Wow? 12:19
@tripplexgaming it's as he says, if that's the test centre you learn near it will be the easiest for you. It's better than doing one you have not learnt at.
Hello from Croatia.. I have a general driving question, why do you signal right on roundabouts? Say you're taking the 3rd exit going right, you signal right, then after the 1st exit you don't cancle the right signal.. technically now the 3rd exit is straight ahead for you, so then what's the point of keeping the right indicator on? Someone who entered from what was your first exit is going towards the 2nd exit (your 3rd exit) and they don't need the right indicator. I know this is a spaghetti of words but I'm hoping you could clear this up, since Croatia is obviously different and we don't indicate left for going left (right side of the road driving)! Thank you in advance.
LOL! I GET IT! And actually you've got a great point. Alternatively everyone should be indicating right to show they're staying on the roundabout until they want to exit and then signal left. It is confusing. I don't know the correct answer for why it's just how it is.
Will I get into trouble for saying that looks quite easy?!! I've seen Rosehill Roundabout on a few channels, I've been driving a decade or 5 and I'd just refuse point blank to do it!
I'm curious to know if you have a method for how youre gonna cover each test centre (eg north to south, west to east, etc) or just randomly driving around the country?
I'm going to go around county by county and complete all the test centres in that county and move on to the next one. I might jump between if good opportunities arise though!
My FOI request shows Basildon has twice as many serious faults for 'use of speed' (going too fast) and 'positioning - normal driving', yet half as many for 'clearance'. 70% higher for response to road markings, which is not surprising given the condition of the roads in the video.
I'm waiting for leeds test centre. Its currently based in a sports centre and is among the lowest pass rates in the country simply because of the horrendous test routes/roads around the test centre. 😂 Got my test in March, curious to see if he covers it before my test.
@@DrivingSchoolTV Expect some sketchy driving, especially if you head through the Harehills area, and especially on the main high street. Expect pedestrians walking out from between cars or just crossing without looking, and you may get oncoming cars suddenly pulling over directly in front of you to park up. Also just checked the goofle pass rates, leeds is currently sat at 35.10% and basildon is at 35.90% - Test route standards should be fairly similar. I think a lot of the leeds low pass rate can be attributed to how lucky you are around the harehills area, and I think every 2 out of 3 tests is in and around harehills. A few people I know that have passed at leeds have mostly taken 4-5 attempts mostly because they got the harehills based test route and they just ended up getting unlucky with unpredictable situations that caused them to fail. Although, saying all that, the test centre is due to move again as the current sport centre was/is a temporary location due to closing down the old office building because it was sold for residential development. Its moving to an area called colton near junction 46 off the M1 which has much nicer and generally easier roads, with the exception of maybe the Selby road dual carriageway. The lane discipline can get quite confusing around the junction to the entrance to sainsburys.
Hi Francis, I have passed my test and I am looking to buy a used Ford fiesta 2019- 2023 car from a Ford dealership however I am nervous regarding there being faults on my car months down the line. For my piece of mind do you think it would be a good idea to get my car serviced before I purchase my car or immediately after I buy my car to assure me that there won’t be any faults once I start driving it months down the line?
The car is so new that its unlikely to have developed any major faults that require attention, you can also look at the MOT history with the number plate. If its an official licensed Ford dealership I doubt they would sell you a junker. As for servicing don't get ripped off by the dealership learn do to it yourself or take it to Halfords to do it as they have major service + 100 point inspection etc. For that specific car follow the timing belt maintenence intervals advised in the manual as well to keep it running for a long time.
Good reply from Paura. The beenfits of buying a used car from a main dealer is that it won't be a heap of junk, they'll have done any work that needs doing and it'll usually come with a warranty so you can take it back if anything mechanical goes wrong. It'll also probably have been serviced. Note though that servicing it won't fix faults with the car all a service is is changing oil, air filters spark plugs and other liquids etc.
Might be full of myself but I feel like this isn't that hard of a test aslong as you are confident on roundabouts and fast roads, much less opportunity to fail than normal resdential test routes imo (I'm a learner)
Wolverhampton needs a visit, I test drove a car there and car dealer saw I’d only past under a year ago and he suggested I might just want to drive round Tesco carpark😂 Said they don’t test drive round the ring road!

I'm curious to know if you have a method for how youre gonna cover each test centre (eg north to south, west to east, etc) or just randomly driving around the country?
I'm going to go around county by county and complete all the test centres in that county and move on to the next one. I might jump between if good opportunities arise though!
@@DrivingSchoolTV you could always google the pass rates and add them in while editing. Currently, Google says basildon is a 35.90%
I did mine in Chingford centre.whats the pass rate?
My FOI request shows Basildon has twice as many serious faults for 'use of speed' (going too fast) and 'positioning - normal driving', yet half as many for 'clearance'. 70% higher for response to road markings, which is not surprising given the condition of the roads in the video.
Oh wow good work! You must be a driving instructor 😉
do dudley
Absolutely will!
@@DrivingSchoolTV been waiting for that for ages, make sure its a route with the big roundabouts ect! i'll be looking out for it
Huddersfield test centre please 😁. Nobody does videos on huddersfield
I'm waiting for leeds test centre. Its currently based in a sports centre and is among the lowest pass rates in the country simply because of the horrendous test routes/roads around the test centre. 😂
Got my test in March, curious to see if he covers it before my test.
I'm coming to both! It'll be tough to get to leeds by march but ya never know!
@@DrivingSchoolTV Thanks Francis. Good luck on your quest. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
The lane discipline can get quite confusing around the junction to the entrance to sainsburys.
went for my first drive as a learner with my dad in Basildon, it did not help my confidence whatsoever
I can imagine! Hope he took you somewhere quieter for the second drive!
I have my test here in 2 months
I’ve got a test in Basildon in 2 days lol
Best of luck on your test! Remember to stay calm and focused, you’ve got this!
I passed my test in Southend, but on a couple of lessons went to Basildon.. they were probably my least favourite lessons lol

@@DrivingSchoolTV i said "don't crash" at the very start lol
@ omg haha thanks for the story reply!!
there is a width restricter !!!!!
The inside has a slight resemblance of the Wolverhampton test centre
Driving test in a few weeks 😭
The pass rate is 49%
Which surprises the pants off me that so many people have passed
YOU USED THE LEFT ONLY LANE TO GO STRAIGHT!!!!!
I got way to excited when I saw that
when?
I don’t know the exact time but on the second to last roundabout
8:42
Haha well spotted Lola! I only saw it after I'd already committed to the left lane because they're SO FADED 😡
Wolverhampton test centre
How is it?
Not entirely sure but it has a pass rate of 37.2% according to a Google search! Another tough one is Speke in Liverpool 😅
Speke is legendary for having the lowest pass rate. I can't wait to try it!
Wolverhampton needs a visit, I test drove a car there and car dealer saw I’d only past under a year ago and he suggested I might just want to drive round Tesco carpark😂 Said they don’t test drive round the ring road!
Tooooo many potholes in Basildon
It was awful area to drive and do your test there
What a horrible driving test route
