The headroom in the 2nd row is completely ok if you dont get the panoramic sunroof and I am 190cm. Mat stressed it too much, i think. What he did not stress is that you can actually carry 3 passengers in the 2nd row because you have three separate seats, plus you have a flat floor, no bump in the middle. Kodiaq feels like cheap ship compared to 5008, it just is more luxurious and is also quieter in the cabin as well.
Review as a new owner of a 5008 GT Line Peugeot ( Its long I know) As a Swede, Peugeot cars are rare on the roads (lots of old Volvos), and not really mentioned that much, but as I needed to look after a car that suits a family of 4 children, I turned my head to the Peugeot car dealer. My first impression when I saw the car, and sat down and touched the I-cockpit I felt impressed. Design, and the feeling of quality were direct and instant. I needed though a car as I mentioned to travel with 4 kids, and the seatings are very nice. You can change how they should be in every possible way, and it suits me perfect. With fewer kids in the car, they have a living room back there, and the back row are the favorite spot for the younger ones. As you might get it now, I bought a 5008 GT line, lots of extra extra, and Ive had it now for 4 months and I just wanted to leave a comment that might help other buyers. My thoughts so far and I will only mention the negatives (remember, its MY thoughts, not a freaking science report): Negatives: - As mentioned before I think, the position of the left foot when your driving longer haults, and you wanna rest it on the preferred spot aint good. Im not that tall, but my legposition when resting my left leg aint great. You need to stretch it behind the brakepedal to stretch it out. No biggie really, but people having said this before are 100% right. - I feel the touchscreen in the middle of the cockpit and the processor behind the interlay are a bit slow. Hard to explain, you need to mix with it, try it out in action for a longer period of testing, but just a quick example: When reducing the volume of the radio, or whatever sound you might have on, its a delay of showing it on the screen, and it feels like a slow computer that have a shortage of RAM memory. This is also not a big issue, but everyone that know the feeling of a slow computer or smartphone can relate to this. - What else, well Im used with engines with almost 300hp and when i went for a testdrive with the car the cardealer had, it was the weakest engine, dont remember the spec now (105hp?), but I´ve read reviews that it was totally ok to have that even though this is a big 7-seater. I really cant say it is. I might be spoiled, but it aint much fun when the sound from the car feels strained and you really cant get the car moving. I went for the 165hp petrol and with a light turbo this engine is fine, but of course not a powerhouse. Best part, having cars before that I needed to refuel all the time , this 5008 GT are very fuel-efficent. - The drivers seat. I guess you can have the choice as an add-on, but the length of the drivers seat, well both front seats, could be longer for your legs and bum. Hope you understand what I mean, and I guess you probably can cash out and get better comfort. There are lots of smooth nice details as positives that I can mention but I guess it aint as interesting to read about really, but if your a big family and like design, a good looking car, but great quality, nice details I really can say, that you cant be dissapointed really. Its not a sportscar, its a family car Royale!
Is the 5008 a car you would change then or does it tick enough boxes? I had the Qashqai. Good car in almost every way, economical close to 65 mpg but a touch small on space but thinking long term went for the Mk2 Kuga.
True dat. I always believe in French design. French designs are innovative and stylish, unlike those boring German designs. Not to mention that those German premium cars' interiors (Audi, BMW etc) are actually built and developed by the French (Faurecia). So those brilliant Audi cockpits are actually products of French build quality.
I drove the Peugeot 3008 and it was my "Goldilock's" car… it was just right! These Pug's really did feel like driving the future. When you do as many km's a year as I do for work then the warranty and servicing intervals make this a car seriously worth considering, especially with all the kit you get on them.
Here is food for thought, how many people actually look to buy cars like these to carry all adult passengers? Not many I suspect. These kind of cars are actually targeted for young growing families. So for someone like me - who is going to have my fourth child soon, this car makes a lot of sense. My children are 8 yrs, 6 yrs and 1 year so the space is just nice. By the time the two eldest outgrow the seats I very much doubt I will still be driving them around. 🤓 Not really a fair review by Mat tbh. Total oversight on his part. Mat isn't the best reviewer - really.
This is fascinating point. The mid+rear seats of the 5008 is IDENTICAL to the Citroen Picasso C4 Grand. The individual 3 sliding seats, the under floor storage, flip trays and nets, the rear seat folding mechanisms, the multiple flaps to provide a smooth floor, the roll out luggage cover design and 2 position storage. Its seems pretty clear that Peugeot and Citroen are sharing parts or at least the design details
DamnBigAss62 The french aren't underrated, they were close to fade to oblivion for years, because of their inferior quality. Do you think they just didn't sell because of a global conspiracy? They are slowly fighting back. First trying to compensate lack of quality with style, now they seem to catch up in terms of quality.
3:30 the tray tables do that in case you crash If they didn’t you would sustain serious injuries and food on the floor is better than being in a hospital I had a Citroen c4 Picasso and the tables did that
How can you say it as "excellent quality materials" if the car IS NOT OUT FOR YOU TO TEST ??? The back seats are already falling apart .. JUST WATCH THE VIDEO !!! No head room on the second row seats ... come on THIS IS A TOTAL DISASTER !!!
People like you cant understand this car. Just proceed with your Ford, VW, KIA or whatever boring vehicle you drive. Back seat didn't fall apart, it is so obvious that it is a part of the script for this review. Headroom in the second row is just perfect. In case that it is higher than it would be stupid looking like Touran or even Caddy. With 3008 and 5008 Peugeot is better than any so called premium and far better than ugly Touran. It is so much better that is is stupid to argue, this is spaceship comparing to any competition. Like these cars very much because they annoy peasants with their beauty.
Antonio... 5008 has identical interior as 3008, which IS on the market so, if you go and test it, you can see that materials really are of excellent quality... which is basically what Mat says in the video too...;).the back seats do not fall apart, he managed to brake something off! intentionally or by accident is the question for "conspiracy theorists"... al I can say is that I (you) can brake off stuff by "misuse" in german cars too...about the headroom... it obviously is not "generous", but on the other hand, you can see Mat trying to sit strait up so hard, that he looks like he "ate a broomstick"... and he intentionally slid the seats back, so his head would be positioned directly beneath the sunblind rollo, leaving like 30cm of space between his knees and front row seats! if you sit "normally", with the seat slit forward, so jour head is placed under the sunroof (or in the version with hard top), headroom should not be such a problem... all this was exaggerated in order "to make a point" ;).in other words, if you dislike the car, just say so... there's no problem with that! for everything else, read the first sentence in your post... the part written in caps that is ;)!
Mirko Zlikovski: Sure I can brake off stuff by "misuse" in my german cars ... IF I USE A JACKHAMMER ! But never by pulling a lever that IS SUPPOSED TO BE PULLED !
I just bought the 5008 and it is fantastic!!! Yes, there are similarities between 3008 and 5008 but they are very different as well. You get three individual back seats, much bigger boot, more cabin space, different ride experience, two extra seats in the back back, and finally a very different look on the outside. About the headspace - I am 6,3 (1,93cm) and have no problems on the second row but without glass roof. So choose the 5008 without glass roof !
Regarding the question, Yes it’s worth it, it’s not just 20cm but a gigantic boot space when seats in third row is flat and even with seats up it’s got enough for shopping of prams. The big yes is because of the third row, that is amazing, you have more seating, and payed flat it is just a great feature, you can even move them out. I love this car and have just ordered one but sadly will be made in December due to demand. I chose this against the Skoda Kodiaq, I chose the Peugeot in a Gt line premium which has everything without the sport engine model GT. my reason over the Skoda is I prefer the look exterior and interior, but mainly what extras I get with Peugeot rather than paying so much for extras which should have been standard on Skoda, sure you can get most things on Skoda but simple things like reverse camera costing £500 and safety feature packs just made it a no barber against the Peugeot coming with everything on the model I selected, I also love the three seats in the middle as supposed to the two with the tiny middle in the Skoda. Anyways a lot more reasons after a lot of thought but I can’t wait for the pearl white Peugeot 5008 GT line premium 😍
I have an old Tiguan and planned for new model as I was happy with it. But after I saw and drive it was very disappointed. Actually the old one is better quality. But this...after seeing a lot of test drive it got into my head....welcome back Peugeot...
The head room was tight because the seat was all the way back🤔 If you put the seat in the correct position then you can use the sunroof area for your head
French cars = underrated German cars = overrated People do the mistake of comparing a middle-class targeted peugeot/renault/citroën car to a rich-class targeted BMW/Mercedes, of course the french one is gonna lose. But if you compare a Peugeot 308 to a Volswagen Golf 7 then sorry but for the same price you might prefer the 308.
OutlawsDead end of the day they are second rate machines in every department. The honest person admits they would have an Audi, BMW if Merc every day of the week over these lower priced Peugeot, Nissans etc... not that they are bad cars, just simply you get what you pay for in every level. Will always get lots of likes and people dissing the more expensive machines as ultimately it’s easier to take pots shots at the people who choose to pay the extra for quality. I think this is a decent machine, nothing more, far too expensive for an average build French MPV pretending to be an SUV but will work for the most part and get you from a-b most of the time.
J Chs dude the engines that some "germans" use are from Peugeot even interiors stop overating german cars, they are not bad but they are boring as heck
Don't forget that many buyers go for 7 seaters not because they need 7 seats but they want a bigger boot and more passenger space. If you have small children all needing big car seats and you need to carry buggies etc these variants are a much better option. We've had a Grand C4 Picasso for 2 years and used the extra seating maybe twice in that time - space wise it's perfect though.
Great review carwow ! appreciate your objectivity about latest peugeot products ! it has in my opinion been lacking a lot in the last 10 years in most Uk media.
I love the 5008 just just in case you have lots of truck space or extra seats and the fuel consumption is almost the same as 3008. I prefer the 5008, more useful and still super stylish.
Isn't the lack of headroom in the 2nd row actually due to the presence of the pano roof? Would you try a 5008 without a pano roof to see if that makes a difference?
The c class is the best in it's class regarding luxury and ride comfort.. the alfa is the new rival which happens to be the sportiest and has italian flare. They are both very good actually.
Getting the alfa is like getting the performance of the 63s for the price of a c200. It makes more sense to buy the alfa from an economic standpoint(at the time not in terms of resale) but at the end of the day it all comes down to personal preference
yash kapur no the one costs the same as the C200 is the diesel not the QV. My local dealer has the fast QV one for sale for £57,000 which costs the same as a C63
Well it's my daily, more practical and better in city conditions, so I don't use my McLaren for commuting all too much. A Porsche is a nice little thing though, the targa is the best of coupe and cabrio.
Really like the look of the 3008 just unsure if pugeout and Renault are more reliable and better buys than they used to be or am I safer going for a tiguan, ateca, CX5 or kuga need help to decide folks
Do you ever get confused changing from driving on the left side in the UK to driving on the right side in Europe? I would guess that's pretty difficult to suddenly adapt to.
I remember when I was little, my dad used to tell me about "these weird guys in England that drive on the other side" and that if you go there, you'll be terribly confused. Isn't it dangerous? I mean, you have to program yourself "on the other side" and be aware at all times that you're "on the other side". Some instinctive things will be there and... that's why I'm wondering if it isn't dangerous. Granted, you always seem to be filming in low traffic and empty roads and so on.
It isn't difficult to adapt at all. I frequently drive from the UK through Europe and I've never once struggled. I've also driven left hand drive cars here at home and it's relatively easy (although I do punch the door every now and then when I'm going to change gears). And nobody drives on the 'correct' side of the road. Different countries drive on whatever side is relevant to their country driving laws, deal with it.
The reason im getting one of these instead of the 3008 is because of the boot space for pram on right plus shopping or suitcase on the left..dont care about the extra seats, they will either come out completely or just never be unfolded, 3008 is too small for 2 kids in big bulky car seats plus a big old pram in the boot, this model at least can fit the pram in boot to the right and then still leave room for a few bags of shopping on the left side.
Talking about the headroom in the middle seats, does he stopped to think that the sunroof is taking 5 ctms and that's why for a tall person the middle seats have little space? This car is lovely for me, I saw it today in the dealer and I'm pushing my wife for it, don't know if I'll make it 'cause she likes the Tiguan. Not comparable I tell her, but you know women.
Actually if you watch his 3008 review, that problem was fixed. It was a problem on their 208 and 2008 so they fixed it for 3008 and 5008, so now the steering wheel never obscures the dials.
Isn''t it the same case with the rear tables in the Tiguan as those open from downwards up? So they could as easily retract down again for safety reasons in case of a collision?
5008 GT or Ford S Max Vignale or St line?? Which would you guys go for? Ford are offering 0% pcp finance plus around £7000 discount on rrp which makes it a decent deal.
1:06 Does this storage in the floor actually mean that you are not able to install ISO fix base for the child seat? I heard ISO fix base leg should not be installed on the top of the plastic lid of the storage containers. I would like to see crash test of ISO fix chairs on this car.
Mr. Watson, thank you for the test you're making on our behalf. Could you be so kind to tell your personal choice of a seven seater (say, the third row mainly to crry two kids few times a year for lest than four hours each time), well equipped and with the good engine? I was initially considering VW Sharan, but the new "Skodiaq" looks great, this Peugeot 5008 seems to be good too. Galaxy is on my list as well, but I might even consider the new Discovery. What would You take, given that choice?
Hey Carwow in process of ordering one of these through work, going for the GT spec, is the automatic ok to drive? I have never driven an auto btw but just like the look and amount of kit you get on the GT model but it only comes as an automatic, thanks
"It's front wheel drive only" But then, who needs four wheel drive when you have Peugeot's Grip Control system? Yes, it may not be as good as proper, genuine 4WD, but it's more than enough to make up for the lack of grip on slippery surfaces!
Good review Matt, as always great humour! Separate, moveable and removable rear seats is a great idea all marques should adopt and remove electric seats as unnecessary.
Why are you exaggerating the way you sit in the middle row? Who on earth sits with his back on a 90 degree angle like this? It seems like you are trying to make the middle row seats lacking headroom space on purpose.
I have a peugeot 5008 gt line. ....its a good suv.....interior is good and I love the I cockpit functions.....There are many interesting functions.....but the problem is that for a such big suv it's doesn't have 4 wheel drive......but it doesn't matter.....who need 4 wheel if you are driving on road unless you are in a jungle or mud.....
Review as a new owner of a 5008 GT Line Peugeot ( Its long I know)
As a Swede, Peugeot cars are rare on the roads (lots of old Volvos), and not really mentioned that much, but as I needed to look after a car that suits a family of 4 children, I turned my head to the Peugeot car dealer.
My thoughts so far and I will only mention the negatives (remember, its MY thoughts, not a freaking science report):
Negatives:
- As mentioned before I think, the position of the left foot when your driving longer haults, and you wanna rest it on the preferred spot aint good.
Thanks for ur effort to type this down mate.
Volvos are always better.. very well built and built for safety
Is the 5008 a car you would change then or does it tick enough boxes? I had the Qashqai. Good car in almost every way, economical close to 65 mpg but a touch small on space but thinking long term went for the Mk2 Kuga.
Did you get it without the Panoramic roof and if not do you find you have the headroom issues in the middle row Matt pointed out.
@@bfg3890 Kuga Mk2 or 5008?
That interior has to be one of the best of any car on sale today.

Peugeot have upped their game with the 3008 and 5008 big time
the 208 is lush too

Except when he is biased. but generally speaking I like him very much, ever since I watched citroen xsara's review a long time ago

wrong show :P
But wouldn't you feel a bit silly driving to the supermarket in a washing machine?

I find nothing wrong with French cars at all. I enjoy the comfort of the Frenchie's as well as the Germans
Oscar Fitzgerald The French are quite underrated. The German's are overrated. They make good cars, but not *that* good cars

Exactly. Not very long ago, French cars were appalling, but they're back up there again and as such very underrated as of now.

I just bought the 5008 and it is fantastic!!! Yes, there are similarities between 3008 and 5008 but they are very different as well. Definitely. While it is stylish, it doesn't match this on any other category, and personally not even the style department.

2:47 Matt driving the car... 2:59 car driving the car! Need this magic car
Review the Sante Fe! I test drove the automatic diesel and really enjoyed it!
Great Review Mat! Greetings from Brazil!!!
Same as 2nd row in Espace! In 3008 rear seats are sitting lower, so they're not that comfy, but gets you headroom
I'm considering buying one of these as they are very nice.
Amazing how Serra da Arrábida is great to make videos. Hope you guys had fun making the review of this car in my town.
So your main criticism ist the lack of headroom in the middle row, IF you buy the sunroof that many people won't buy anyway?
Sirion he did say that the sunroof eats into the headroom, sp he acknowledged it.
Great review carwow !
appreciate your objectivity about latest peugeot products !
it has in my opinion been lacking a lot in the last 10 years in most Uk media.
It would be great to see a review of it fully loaded with the 1.2 pure tech engine.
Perfect car for families!
this car is a 19/20
I love the 5008 just just in case you have lots of truck space or extra seats and the fuel consumption is almost the same as 3008. I prefer the 5008, more useful and still super stylish.
Isn't the lack of headroom in the 2nd row actually due to the presence of the pano roof? Would you try a 5008 without a pano roof to see if that makes a difference?
I was going for the xtrail but i changed my mind and i am getting now 5008 1.2
I like those french backlights. This is the best thing in this car.
Where is the Alfa romeo giulia review??????
Moby Dick it's not actually.. they're both good in their own ways
Coming from a huge mercedes fan.
A Porsche is a nice little thing though, the targa is the best of coupe and cabrio.
did you film this video in Portugal? Serra de Arrábida and Parque das Nações in Lisbon?
After having the 4007 when this comes out in the UK in January we're getting this immediately
Really like the look of the 3008 just unsure if pugeout and Renault are more reliable and better buys than they used to be or am I safer going for a tiguan, ateca, CX5 or kuga need help to decide folks
Now you can do the school run in style!
Do you ever get confused changing from driving on the left side in the UK to driving on the right side in Europe? I would guess that's pretty difficult to suddenly adapt to.
+Raptorel sometimes
Where are the 5 cool features and the 5 not so cool features?
Pedro Marques This us only a review of the launch car. He'll probably review it again when it reaches the UK, like he did with the Nissan Micra.
Does the floor storage in the rear mean you can't use an isofix seat with a floor support bar?
the interior looks nice...
what 7 seater car do you recomend besides 5008 and Skoda Kodiaq?
Most stylish,hightech-looking and futuristic looking interior(dash-board) ever!!!
It's very similar to the citoren c4 grand Picasso in the seating arrangements its the exact same boot size
WOW I’m amazed how good Peugeot became ! It just Marvelous.
Three isofix chairs in the first row is a win!!!
side profile reminds me of landrover discovery
Talking about the headroom in the middle seats, does he stopped to think that the sunroof is taking 5 ctms and that's why for a tall person the middle seats have little space? This car is lovely for me, I saw it today in the dealer and I'm pushing my wife for it, don't know if I'll make it 'cause she likes the Tiguan. Not comparable I tell her, but you know women.
I see this as an advantage to get In-built giant screen for entertainment n to locate the places nearby...
That interior design is superb!!! Only thing I'm not sure about is the steering wheel / dial positioning.
Idk whether to buy this to save money, and it is beautiful. Or whether I should by the Jaguar F Pace to me feel posh idk what do you guys recommend
peugeot is making great cars with the 3008 and the 5008:) they are definetly on the best way!
I think so too especially with the 308 and 3008
5008 GT or Ford S Max Vignale or St line?? Which would you guys go for? Ford are offering 0% pcp finance plus around £7000 discount on rrp which makes it a decent deal.
1:06 Does this storage in the floor actually mean that you are not able to install ISO fix base for the child seat? I heard ISO fix base leg should not be installed on the top of the plastic lid of the storage containers. I would like to see crash test of ISO fix chairs on this car.
As always Matt gets on with it, no bull shit and tells you what you want to Know and throws in a bit of cheesy humour.
The view window look really nice
Hey Carwow in process of ordering one of these through work, going for the GT spec, is the automatic ok to drive? I have never driven an auto btw but just like the look and amount of kit you get on the GT model but it only comes as an automatic, thanks
Hi mat! Now when the new Peugeot 3008 and 5008 has came, could you please review them, it would mean so much😁
So how is the headroom with a regular non-panoramic roof?
"It's front wheel drive only"
But then, who needs four wheel drive when you have Peugeot's Grip Control system? Yes, it may not be as good as proper, genuine 4WD, but it's more than enough to make up for the lack of grip on slippery surfaces!
"Peugeot's Grip Control" :)))
does this compete with hyndai santa fe
This video was shoot in Portugal???
seriously what wd you rather have, one of these or BMW grand touring
so this car same segment as honda crv and peugeot 3008 same segment with honda hrv?
Nice review 🎉
Good review Matt, as always great humour! Separate, moveable and removable rear seats is a great idea all marques should adopt and remove electric seats as unnecessary.
whats the real life fuel consumption in 1.2 5008?
Welcome to Portugal Matt.
5008 or grand scenic?
Where is the spare tire located?
which color is it ? I think it's not blue color
Which one your prefer Seat Alhambra or Peugeot 5008 for family?
one of the best rear seats for a suv after range rover
Why are you exaggerating the way you sit in the middle row? Who on earth sits with his back on a 90 degree angle like this? It seems like you are trying to make the middle row seats lacking headroom space on purpose.
where did you film the video? awesome
I have 5008 the same colour
It is a very good car
I have a peugeot 5008 gt line. ....its a good suv.....interior is good and I love the I cockpit functions.....There are many interesting functions.....but the problem is that for a such big suv it's doesn't have 4 wheel drive......but it doesn't matter.....who need 4 wheel if you are driving on road unless you are in a jungle or mud.....
Plz review the new Peugeot 508 when it is released.
can u review the Toyota Prius plus?
ur good man...keep up the reviews
Im pritty tall but i did not have any problems with the headroom
It's a realy nice car i would buy this instead of the 3008
