Fishing Lake Newell Alberta for Pike and Walleye!

- On day two of the southern Alberta main lake opener we head to lake Newell after pike and walleye. The day starts out windy but calms down several hours in. Trolling spoons, plugs and bottom bouncers we land many pike and pops catches two walleye. Although we don’t catch any big fish we have a great day. The very end of the day we notice the start of a huge midge fly hatch beginning that will effect us the following day.

Tons of action! And a double header, sweet!
It was a lot of fun, to bad we didn’t catch any of size lol
James, a nice pheasant to start. Bad wind and a small boat is not my favorite combination. Love the double-header! If the wind/weather permits I hope to get out on my Seahawk 4 Inflatable and try some bottom bouncing. If not, I'll be hitting the trout ponds. I have the need to fish!
