I've been watching this concert for 15 years and i'll never get tired of that moment when Pata (black haired guitarist) walks up to hide (pink haired guitarist), and hide just gives that "we've got this" smirk, the synchronicity between them was amazing. And it's hard to believe hide would be gone less than 6 months after this. On a side note, this song dates back as early as 1984, before hide and Pata were in the band, there are some very early demos of it that are very different (hide and Pata completely added their own stamp to the solo sections), and yes an English, very thrashy version of this was on Vanishing Vision, then a more symphonic version was recorded in Japanese for Blue Blood, the version they played live back then was sort of a mix between the two.
I wonder what crossed Toshi's mind as he sat beside Hide, in the beginning. He stated he was scared to death all the time, but I'm always under the impression a part of him was simply... on stage with his own band for the last time. And I wondered before pushing play if Baldman would have said something about the blatant Kiss' influence in the beginning, Yes, I love this song. After ail this years, I don't hear Kiss any longer, I only hear X. Great song.
Pretty awesome live. I can definitely hear the 80's in this, there's something charming about seeing these really old lives, I love them. It was a very hype track, it got everyone into it. I'm not an X Japan fan but I can see why they are so influential they've inspired many of my favorite bands so I'm thankful to them.
Bassist now is Heath but in 1987-91 Taiji has impeccable bass skills and punk style. I would recommend you watch the live "X" blue blood tour in 1989. It was a great show.
If you get a chance, watch the 2010 Yokokama concert... they bring Taiji out... it's fucking amazing. That was my first introduction to X . And on a side note... Kurenai is the song I used to listen to while street racing in my Subaru WRX. Envision a crazed 56 yr old white woman, blasting Japanese rock music, while challenging boys in rice burner cars...LOL...in metro Denver no less... this is music to drive to....
Love your channel man. Keep up the great work. X Japan is legendary and it's still so sad that Hide is no longer here but is still so famous to this day. Since you just did a reaction to my favourite band (L'Arc~en~Ciel), may I suggest you do a reaction to what is in my opinion Hyde's best solo song? It's called ''Season's Call''. I think this is probably his most famous solo song as well. As for L'Arc, there is literally so much to recommend that I won't bother. I am sure others will and you can find out yourself. Take your time and I appreciate these videos!
Whats the best about last live is, the sounds engineer that makes the sounds very specific. Each sound from yosh drum. Snairs, double paddle, hide solo evn when they harmonize, toshi high low vocal. All of them can be listen clearly
thank you for great reaction for X JAPAN!! how about hide(x japan guitarist- red guy in this video) solo discography? Pink spider(ピンク スパイダー) pv ver, Rocket dive(pv), Doubt 97(studio live.ver)!! Thank you
My favourite song from them :) This live is incredible. Could you please react to Malice Mizer? They're one of my favourite visual kei groups, probably my favourite actually. Their songs are probably a bit softer and simpler compared to more metal groups but they really started the gothic/Victorian aesthetics trend in visual kei which influenced groups like the Versailles. They were active from 1992-2001, their best music from '96 and onwards. I don't mind what song you listen to. But some of my favourites are Au Revior, Le Ciel, Beast of Blood, Shiroi Hada, Illuminati (not sure if its a good idea to watch this one though lol its a bit sexual), Bel Air, Gardenia... just search Malice Mizer live and pick one lol I love literally every song they've ever made, and thats a rare thing. Also I want to mention they have had three vocalists, the first Teru didnt record many songs with them, but their other two Gackt and then Klaha sang their best songs. I cant choose my favourite they both had two of the best voices in visual kei and have their own unique style.
there is a BLUES/ROCK song by X JAPAN react to the song JOKER make sure it's their 1993 returns performance that is the best just figured i would recommend it so you can see their other varied styles
Even when I respect and enjoy X Japan, for some reason I can't get into them completely... Idk why... there are tracks that I really enjoy, but being honest, are the minority. And I have the impression you feel the same about them, don't know hahah xD Anyway, thank you for de video! c:
love the scorps and accept references. lately revisited scorps '85 full show, opens with coming home, reactable. surprised to be reminded how punkish they were, crazy mix loose & tight, bad sound yet great energy ua-cam.com/video/uG3plCJLYyg/v-deo.html [just relistened, sound guy/mixer wasn't ready!. starts on strat for 3 Floyd rose songs, sound gets close around 2mins in, Blackout is done by 7:30, listen to both!, then badboysrunningwild sounds great thru 11:30, then to the hard bridge Explorer for some Lovedrive songs] and love that Accept is still Accept, churning out the riffs. live in 2011, basically the comeback, sound & performance are great, new song, apparently they're not fond of wall St, "no shelter" ua-cam.com/video/9WWBrOWFq3I/v-deo.html
Please react the band "Zilch". by hide (X Japan), Ray McVeigh (Professionals), Paul Raven (Killing Joke), Joey Castillo (Danzig and Queens of the Stone Age) and "I.N.A." (hide with Spread Beaver).
master ! i love x japan ! reaction the best group of metal from argentina called Almafuerte " Dijo el droguero" or the group Rata Blanca " La leyenda del hada y el mago" please..regards from Buenos Aires ! 🇦🇷
Kurenai is overrated, imo. There are so many less known songs from X that would deserve an ear to be thrown at. Furthermore, the Last Live is a really cool gig but the band recorded concerts so much more rock 'n' roll than this one. "On the verge of destruction", per example, or even thait 88's Kyoto Sports Valley so-so performance, are so much more groovy, energetic and unaltered.
overrated? it is one of x's most famous songs, yes there are less known songs that deserve more recognition but that is with all bands... i shan't think we should suggest that the renown of kurenai is undeserved for the fact that they have those other songs in their library that need more ears a listening to.
That's my point, precisely. It shouldn't be one of their most famous songs. I don't see why the fact that other bands have famous songs would be relevant, some deserve to be famous and others don't (to sum it up in a manichean fashion). And I see no other reason to think the renown of Kurenai is undeserved, other than the fact that X has those other songs that need more ears a listening to. That's exactly what qualifies Kurenai for that adjective, actually. ;) Let me clarify something: I'm a fan of X, and I love Kurenai (the Blue Blood version, at least), but it's X 101. I'm not some kind of hipster who rejects anything that's popular. I just think Kurenai is really overrated compared to other X songs + Baldman isn't a fan of the band and I think he would more easily appreciate some.songs that show less bombast, even if it's also part of X's DNA. I would love to see him react to Easy Fight Rambling, Desperate Angel, Orgasm, Stab Me in the Back, Miscast, Week-End... But once again, that's only my opinion. I don't mean to impose it to anyone.

With the exception of "Art of Life", this is to me the quintessential X Japan song. It combines so many elements that make them great.
I wonder what crossed Toshi's mind as he sat beside Hide, in the beginning. He stated he was scared to death all the time, but I'm always under the impression a part of him was simply... on stage with his own band for the last time.

Because kurenei is actually song inspired by hide. Both yosh and hide work thru this song and i can say one of their anthem
This song is 32 yrs old actually and it has a lot of re-arrangement after it was released..
wow .... I get chills a couple times for this song . The song is very intense , but the band's balance is unbelievable .

わー、昔のことなのにヨシキ見てると泣けてくるわ。
This song is so fun to play on guitar. Also I think this song/band really influenced Aoi from GazettE (black haired guitarist)
勉強不足で英語が分からないのが残念(;_;)

Actually, after listening to the Last Live for the n-th time I'm convinced Baldman should react to Scars.
