Looks like you kept the distance too close when it was uncoated it has to be 1:12 where 1 is the diameter of circle or spot you are trying to measure and once you move it towards you it will obviously decrease!
Also this infrared gun relies on Emissivity factor, depending on emissivity factor your temperature readings will change so doesnt look appealing ( you gotta try it outside in sun with thermocouple setup)

Is it an advised use to paint it on tarps (as in the video)? Will it stay and stick?
