I have the mach 5 and 6 and will definitely say that mach 6 is an excellent show with awesome traction. I took it out this past Saturday in rainy Cali weather and the traction was excellent, but I will also admit I will not leave my mach 5alone.

I bought the Mach 6 and it feels like a different shoe than 5. What also happened was that they gave me a size shorter than before. From 46.5 to 46. The HOKA Mach 5 was my first fast shoe and I broke some long-standing Pr’s two years ago, but it also hurted my ankle and gave my legs constantly a punch. They also felt long for me. Now with the 6 the shoes felt small at the toebox. I went back a couple of times and asked if I didn’t bought a too small shoe, but they felt and compared with a half size bigger and they all came to the conclusion that 46 was the right size for me. I haven’t run that much with it yet, only 71km and also not easy very fast. But maybe that has also to do with my injury and being out of shape because of that. I hope I can fit more with the shoe very soon. Nice review.

Just started wearing my second Mach 5, wonderful shoes. Shall buy Mach 6 in April for my birthday. So much choice, Rebel 4 and Speed 4 purchase in the second half of the year. Great video as usual.
I’ve put 18 miles in my mach 6 and it’s a great shoe for me so far. Feels very comfy and snappy at 10:30 mile pace and very quick and light at 6:00 mile pace. I’m happy with my purchase. 5’8 190lbs
I agree with the sizing and fit thing with Hoka. I'm a US 10.5D in my Mach 5 and I was surprised that I'm a size US 11 on the Mach 6. As for the laces, my Mach 6 has a lot of laces left when I did the runner's knot. I love the bounce of the new foam and this has a better rocker geometry for me compared to the Clifton 9 which just doesn't like my feet 😂.
Hey Kofuzi! Just bought a pair this week and I would say the length of laces is just fine. I am even doing runners knot and there is still enough lace to tie the knot without any issues 😊 This is my first Mach so I cannot compare to previous versions 🥲
Hello! I really loved the Mach 4, had two pairs with over 300 miles each and then didn’t like the Mach 5. I’ve had fun with the rebel v3, and just ordered the Rebel 4. I think you should go for the Rebel and try them! Fun shoe 🎉

I also think Hoka sizing is different, I normally wear size W8 comfortably in NB shoes but I find Hoka shoes inconsistent and my usual 8 fits differently between Mach and especially the Rincon. Hope you’re able to find it in stores to try on before you buy.

I still have the 5 with 350 km, Clifton 9 with 450 km, and also Rocket X2 that is to aggressive for my speed for a Marathon :) and 3 more Hoka`s for trail :) Now with Mach 6 straight out the box i did a 21.2 Km run and it seems fantastic but is the most constrictive upper from all my Hoka`s, i had to leave the top laces very loose, heel lookdown is great, when i have stopped i did feel how tall it is, the foam seams much mushy after run, but is very stable and running dynamics are great, the same like in the Mach 5 :) Running Dynamics for this run, 100 meters uphill in the first 10 km :) 183 spm Avg Run Cadence 213 spm Max Run Cadence 1.06 m Avg Stride Length 5.6 % Avg Vertical Ratio 6.2 cm Avg Vertical Oscillation 50.3% L / 49.7% R Avg GCT Balance 227 ms Avg Ground Contact Time

The extra room in Mach 5 made it friendly to people who use custom insole inserts. One of the very few fast and light shoes that allows that. Looks like that capability has been taken away in the 6.
This is a very late comment, but I just bought the mach 6 in wide, and since I have gotten my custom orthotics, these are by far the best fitting shoes for them that I own. Pretty much all the shoes I own I haven't been able to use, except for pegasus and vomero 17s What I noticed is how deep the factory insoles go in the mach 6, so it makes for a great swap to my orthotics since those are very tall. If you have any recommendations for shoes that fit good with inserts I am all ears as well

Took them for a spin on the treadmill at the store yesterday. The Mach has always been my favorite Hoka model, and it remained the same. Okay aside from the Cielo, I love that shoe.
Now i am on hold whether to jump in Novablast 4 or Mach 6. I am looking for a Snappy fast light-weight shoes as fun as Saucony Kinvara 14. This video showed that NB Rebel 4 started to show alot of "crease" on the Mid-sole. Feels like the bounce would not going to last longer after 600KM or around that. Mach 6 have the traditional running shoes outlook which i am eyed on. Especially the outsole rubber is a fantastic upgrade for longer durability for a road-runner.
The first place I come to learn about new shoes. I am in the market for a new pair of trainers - debating these vs Clifton 9s. Love my Clifton 9s so tough decision.
Between the clifton 9, NB rebel V4, and the mach 5 or 6, what would be your top choice? I usually run 3-6 miles at an easy pace. I am a casual noob and in need of some daily trainers but there are so many good options I am not sure where to start.
I'm a big hoka fan but the sizing problem is real. I love the Mach but the 4 was a bit long so i went half size down with the 5 and ended up being way too tight. Tried the 6 with my original sizing again and it's unfortunately way too narrow in the toe box even for my narrow feet. It was suffocating my pinky toe. Even though I've been a fan of the Mach line, i won't be running in the 6 this year.
Nice review. I agree about the sizing, it seems like the upper is a bit smaller on the mach 6. I usually wear size EU 44 2/3, but it felt too tight on the mach 6 with that size so I had to go up to EU 45 1/3, which I never had to do before on any shoes!
My first Hoka is the Speedgoat 5 (3 months ago) and my larger right foot is EU 45,5 (28,4cm). I got the 46 2/3 in the store and it fitted. But after running steep downhill after >30min on loose ground i felt like I needed the smaller size and exchanged the 46 2/3 for a EU 46. When you put them on they feel very snug, but 1.) they have a very soft upper which gives and 2.) you need this for real trail because you would slide forward in the shoes when steep downhill running. Anyway, I just yesterday ordered the Mach 6 in 46 and 46 2/3. I am 1,80m/90kg with low volume feet, width on the narrower end of mid width and extra small heels. I really have to compress my feet into climbing shoes - if you know what i mean ,) Looking forward to test the Mach 6 in terms of fit and feel (and softness/stiffness!) against my Novablast 4 TR and NB 2 in EU 46 (US 11,5, 290mm) and my Superblast, Kayano Lite 3, Nimbus 26 a half size smaller in EU 45 (US 11, 285mm). I also ordered Brooks Ghost Max in 3 sizes (45-46) to replace my Nimbus 26 I don't like (way too much and lound slapping on the ground no matter how you run + too sinky soft) and Asics Noosa Tri 16 (45+46) for comparison with my noosa Tri 15 which feels too hard over time and of course the Mach 6 :) Excited to feel if the Hokas really have this nice feeling and if there is enough shock absorption in asphalt for my meniscus problems. I really like the Speedgoat 5 as a road to trail shoe, because even on asphalt they feel soft enough, like a road shoe. Ok, for MY weight they feel a little too soft maybe on the trails. I also have the Asics Fuji Lite 4 and this feels a little firmer, a little bouncier, with a little more substance, more longevity. Let's see :)
Just got my new Mach6 poppy squash color standard width, surprisingly they fit perfectly with my feet. I had a great experience with the Mach4, was quite concerned about the size cuz I didn’t try them on before placed the order.
Gonna give these a go. Didn't like the wide fit of rebel V4 , also arch felt to prominent . I do have narrow feet , but dont often have issues with feeling the arch in a shoe.
Just picked up my 4th pair of the Mach 5 - don’t want to see it go 😢 Will see if I move to the 6 when it come to an end. At least they didn’t ruin it. That gives me hope 😊
@@darwinuy9174 Hey, I tend to retire shoes early anyhow. The Mach 5s I all retired after 400km. They probably could have kept going a while, but I wouldn’t be able to tell you when they died.
I really didn't care for the Mach 5 at all but I was looking for a new long run shoes and went with the Mach 6 over the Novablast and Nimbus which both just felt like total clunkers to me. Took the Mach 6 out for a 20 miler the same day and I gotta say, I'm a big fan. Love the upper and I don't have an issue with the lace length and I do use runners loop. Overall, I think it's a great daily trainer on the more cushy size. Can't wait to put a ton more miles on then
How do they feel different from rincon 3? The mach 6 seems like a redundant addition to the hoka lineup, if anything replacing the rincon (hopefully not). The profly midsole was different enough from the other shoes to justify having both in a rotation, but now seems like its an either/or situation.
Running novice here: I already have the clifton 8 and enjoying it. But as I start doing some interval sessions lately I feel that is a bit too soft and/or a bit unstable. Would this complement the clifton or they are just too simillar ? Also compared to the clifton 8, is this narrower? Thanks in advance
I’m so glad the put rubber on the mach, the durability was ridiculous on previous models… the upper fit really narrow and seems more like a performance fit.

Question, Is the Mach 6 arched like the 5 is on the inside? The Mach 5 was my first running shoe of such caliber and I was blown away bc I’ve always been a runner but growing up, we never could afford that kind of stuff, I had no idea about how much smoother running shoes makes longer distance running. The only thing for me personally was the arch, so it’s just a personal thing bc I’m not flat footed but very arched shoes bother me, it isn’t too bad to not run in, if I wear them for too long tho they do start to bother me bc of that tho, other than that, a Golden shoe.
Thank you for an other great review. I get really confused (not konfuzied) with all those different shoe models. It seems to me a little bit similar to garmin watches. There are so many different but overlapping models from one brand that I wonder if it wouldn't be better to cut down the number of models (not only Hoka). Before I buy the wrong one I buy none.

I’m usually a size 12 D. I have a “normal“ width foot. I ordered the 12 D and the upper was way too tight. I returned it and got a 12.5 D still too tight. I compared both the five and Mach 6 on feet don’t feel the snug in the uppers really worth it. I’d rather just get a new pair of mock fives or go with another shoe. I could consider getting a 12 wide however, it is harder to find the shoe in my area.
I just bought a pair of these and a cheaper Mach 5, thinking I may run in one or the other for my first marathon at the end of the month, and return the other. Any thoughts on which of the two is better for a sub-4 goal (8:51-9:00 pace is my hope)? Thanks for the review!
@@kofuzi Fair. I'm trying to pick one or the other so that I focus my training on it and return the loser for a full refund, so I don't really want to run in the loser too much. I didn't know if one or the other is built to be better for a marathon based on the foam or any other details.

I'm currently heading on a new direction since I learned that going faster actually requires less energy. I started with the deviate nitro 2 few weeks ago & with the mach 6 released, i wonder how that would match with my new running technique.

Inconsistency indeed. My first Hoka was Mach 5 then I bought Clifton 9 with the same size and the toe box feels narrower on long runs. To think that I was initiallly advised Hokas because they are roomier... Thanks for the review!
My only Mach was the 4 and it was one of the most dead feeling shoe I’ve ever tried. After all the hype, I honestly think I somehow got a dud pair. Our feelings tend to usually line up but I’m scared to try another pair.
Now I kind of wonder how much of the snappiness in the 5 comes from the dual density foams forcing the supercritical foam to do more work in a shorter distance. I guess we'll never know. 🤔
Tempted to buy the Mach 6 as the 5 was one of my favourite shoes. However the second pair of the 5 felt so dead after 300km that I'm hesistant to buy the Mach 6. Guess I'll wait a bit and see what other people report about the durability of this shoe.
Hi! He puts them in the same category if you listened to the end. I think you need to try them both for yourself to see which suits you more, regardless of of any preference he might have. You’ll know.

I will be honest while the design of the Hoka Mach 6 is growing on me, I still prefer the mach 4 and 5 design. It's one of my options that I'm deciding between (Saucony ride 17, New Balance rebel v4). The Hoka Mach 5 is my favorite non plated shoe ever, if I pick the Mach 6 hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
Still on my Mach 5 and durability is not as bad as everyone says. I’ve over 600K in them and I’m not the lightest runner (~80Kg) and they are still good. I can easily do another 100K in them before they are finished (sorry for the metric system values 😉)

I'm a big hoka fan but the sizing problem is real. I love the Mach but the 4 was a bit long so i went half size down with the 5 and ended up being way too tight. Tried the 6 with my original sizing again and it's unfortunately way too narrow in the toe box even for my narrow feet. It was suffocating my pinky toe. Even though I've been a fan of the Mach line, i won't be running in the 6 this year.

Nice review. I agree about the sizing, it seems like the upper is a bit smaller on the mach 6. I usually wear size EU 44 2/3, but it felt too tight on the mach 6 with that size so I had to go up to EU 45 1/3, which I never had to do before on any shoes!
My first Hoka is the Speedgoat 5 (3 months ago) and my larger right foot is EU 45,5 (28,4cm). I got the 46 2/3 in the store and it fitted.
But after running steep downhill after >30min on loose ground i felt like I needed the smaller size and exchanged the 46 2/3 for a EU 46.
When you put them on they feel very snug, but 1.) they have a very soft upper which gives and 2.) you need this for real trail because you would slide forward in the shoes when steep downhill running.
Anyway, I just yesterday ordered the Mach 6 in 46 and 46 2/3.
I am 1,80m/90kg with low volume feet, width on the narrower end of mid width and extra small heels. I really have to compress my feet into climbing shoes - if you know what i mean ,)
Looking forward to test the Mach 6 in terms of fit and feel (and softness/stiffness!) against my Novablast 4 TR and NB 2 in EU 46 (US 11,5, 290mm) and my Superblast, Kayano Lite 3, Nimbus 26 a half size smaller in EU 45 (US 11, 285mm).
I also ordered Brooks Ghost Max in 3 sizes (45-46) to replace my Nimbus 26 I don't like (way too much and lound slapping on the ground no matter how you run + too sinky soft) and Asics Noosa Tri 16 (45+46) for comparison with my noosa Tri 15 which feels too hard over time and of course the Mach 6 :)
Excited to feel if the Hokas really have this nice feeling and if there is enough shock absorption in asphalt for my meniscus problems.
I really like the Speedgoat 5 as a road to trail shoe, because even on asphalt they feel soft enough, like a road shoe. Ok, for MY weight they feel a little too soft maybe on the trails. I also have the Asics Fuji Lite 4 and this feels a little firmer, a little bouncier, with a little more substance, more longevity.

Just got my new Mach6 poppy squash color standard width, surprisingly they fit perfectly with my feet. I had a great experience with the Mach4, was quite concerned about the size cuz I didn’t try them on before placed the order.

Gonna give these a go. Didn't like the wide fit of rebel V4 , also arch felt to prominent . I do have narrow feet , but dont often have issues with feeling the arch in a shoe.
I'm excited to see the new outer. I've loved my Hokas but they aren't durable at all; the added rubber gives me hope.
Just picked up my 4th pair of the Mach 5 - don’t want to see it go 😢 Will see if I move to the 6 when it come to an end. At least they didn’t ruin it. That gives me hope 😊

@@darwinuy9174 Hey, I tend to retire shoes early anyhow. The Mach 5s I all retired after 400km. They probably could have kept going a while, but I wouldn’t be able to tell you when they died.

I really didn't care for the Mach 5 at all but I was looking for a new long run shoes and went with the Mach 6 over the Novablast and Nimbus which both just felt like total clunkers to me. Took the Mach 6 out for a 20 miler the same day and I gotta say, I'm a big fan. Love the upper and I don't have an issue with the lace length and I do use runners loop. Overall, I think it's a great daily trainer on the more cushy size. Can't wait to put a ton more miles on then
How do they feel different from rincon 3? The mach 6 seems like a redundant addition to the hoka lineup, if anything replacing the rincon (hopefully not). The profly midsole was different enough from the other shoes to justify having both in a rotation, but now seems like its an either/or situation.

Running novice here: I already have the clifton 8 and enjoying it. But as I start doing some interval sessions lately I feel that is a bit too soft and/or a bit unstable. Would this complement the clifton or they are just too simillar ? Also compared to the clifton 8, is this narrower? Thanks in advance
In the past i regretted buying rincon 3 . I should have bought mach 5. I will consider buying Mach 6 as my next shoes

I’m so glad the put rubber on the mach, the durability was ridiculous on previous models… the upper fit really narrow and seems more like a performance fit.

Is the Mach 6 arched like the 5 is on the inside?
The Mach 5 was my first running shoe of such caliber and I was blown away bc I’ve always been a runner but growing up, we never could afford that kind of stuff,
I had no idea about how much smoother running shoes makes longer distance running.
The only thing for me personally was the arch, so it’s just a personal thing bc I’m not flat footed but very arched shoes bother me,
it isn’t too bad to not run in, if I wear them for too long tho they do start to bother me bc of that tho,
other than that, a Golden shoe.
Thank you for an other great review. I get really confused (not konfuzied) with all those different shoe models. It seems to me a little bit similar to garmin watches. There are so many different but overlapping models from one brand that I wonder if it wouldn't be better to cut down the number of models (not only Hoka). Before I buy the wrong one I buy none.

I’m usually a size 12 D. I have a “normal“ width foot. I ordered the 12 D and the upper was way too tight. I returned it and got a 12.5 D still too tight. I compared both the five and Mach 6 on feet don’t feel the snug in the uppers really worth it. I’d rather just get a new pair of mock fives or go with another shoe. I could consider getting a 12 wide however, it is harder to find the shoe in my area.
Just get a wide width in the mach 6. It runs very narrow for sure

@@kofuzi Fair. I'm trying to pick one or the other so that I focus my training on it and return the loser for a full refund, so I don't really want to run in the loser too much. I didn't know if one or the other is built to be better for a marathon based on the foam or any other details.

Would you recommend the mach6 or the clifton 9 as the daily trainer & long run shoe? I'm worried that the mach won't be enough cushion over the long runs but the lighter weight is appealing!
The Clifton is going to be more comfy for those long runs, but the Mach is still quite good at long runs too

I'm currently heading on a new direction since I learned that going faster actually requires less energy. I started with the deviate nitro 2 few weeks ago & with the mach 6 released, i wonder how that would match with my new running technique.

I was referring more to the analogous ways in which people responded to the Cielo X1 and some of the earliest ever prototype Hokas which were literally double stacks of midsole foam glued together into a single shoe

Inconsistency indeed. My first Hoka was Mach 5 then I bought Clifton 9 with the same size and the toe box feels narrower on long runs. To think that I was initiallly advised Hokas because they are roomier... Thanks for the review!

My only Mach was the 4 and it was one of the most dead feeling shoe I’ve ever tried. After all the hype, I honestly think I somehow got a dud pair. Our feelings tend to usually line up but I’m scared to try another pair.
I love the new midsole foam on the Mach 6! It reminds me of the Kinvara Pro, and feels better to me than the Mach X.
Is it advisable for walking and long standing?
Now I kind of wonder how much of the snappiness in the 5 comes from the dual density foams forcing the supercritical foam to do more work in a shorter distance. I guess we'll never know. 🤔

Tempted to buy the Mach 6 as the 5 was one of my favourite shoes. However the second pair of the 5 felt so dead after 300km that I'm hesistant to buy the Mach 6. Guess I'll wait a bit and see what other people report about the durability of this shoe.

I will be honest while the design of the Hoka Mach 6 is growing on me, I still prefer the mach 4 and 5 design. It's one of my options that I'm deciding between (Saucony ride 17, New Balance rebel v4). The Hoka Mach 5 is my favorite non plated shoe ever, if I pick the Mach 6 hopefully it doesn't disappoint.
Still on my Mach 5 and durability is not as bad as everyone says. I’ve over 600K in them and I’m not the lightest runner (~80Kg) and they are still good. I can easily do another 100K in them before they are finished (sorry for the metric system values 😉)
