    The place is looking better and better. As someone who's been in architecture for 30 years I wonder if you guys have to deal with a building inspector. Those steps are probably going to require a handrail. Also, max step rise is 7". If you have any questions about that stuff, feel free to ask and I'll do my best to get you the info you need. Keep up the good work.

      I'll be putting up some handrails soon. More than two steps require a handrail. I'm good on the rise and step length. We do have to deal with building inspectors, but most of the stuff we've been building hasn't required a permit. The septic tank and leech field did require a permit and inspection. Those passed with flying colors. The deck is low enough that it doesn't need a permit. The steps, however, may be a different story. Once I get that figured out on how I want them done, then I'll cross that bridge and get them inspected. I'm learning on the go.

    Nice. Please check, but I believe that CA code requires a hand rail when you have that many steps

    • @mtbingadventures1551

      I'll double-check, but I think the deck has to be over 30 inches in height to require a permit. I think that counts for the stairs going up to it as well. I'm exactly 30 inches at the highest part

      Looks like you are correct. I'll be installing a handrail for the stairs. I had the rise correct as well as surface area. But, more than two steps require handrails.

      @@mtbingadventures1551 Decks with drops of over 30" will require a 42"H guard rail too, so you might want to double check if you need one for your deck.

    • @mtbingadventures1551
      @mtbingadventures1551  7 місяців тому +1

      @62swampboy62 it's not over 30". We still might put a handrail all the way around, though. I'm hoping to work on it more this weekend

    Maybe trail one could donate aluminum handlebars for a handrail

      It would be cool to build some handrails out of mountain bike parts. Or something really unique
