Can’t BELIEVE it WORKED?!! Turkey Hunting Tips for killing difficult Tom’s 🦃

Persistence and Patience Paid Off!!! Mature Tom Down! 🦃 This was my most challenging and rewarding bird I’ve shot to date! Through the rain, mud, and hiding my 6 foot 6 frame as best I could, behind some brush, on a little rock pile, having to call the birds back twice as they knew something was up the first time they were coming out, but they weren’t quite sure what (they sent out 2 warning clucks)… I sunk down as low as I could and held my pose still for 15-20 minutes. During that time I was mimicking the hens as best I could with yelps, clucks, and purrs… slowly but surely they made their way back. All the while it’s dripping rain and I’m laying in very saturated ground and a water puddle! But, that cumulative effort is what got the job done. It made them comfortable enough to come back out as I had around 20-25 birds about 10 yards from me! 3 Toms finally busted from the back of the flock and I picked one, game over!
After chasing these birds the last few days and having none of them respond to calls or wanting to break away from the flock, this one felt sweet!
🦃 10.75” Beard (longest strand was 11”)
🦃 1.25” Spurs
🦃 Weight, never weighed it, the body wasn’t my biggest, but I’m assuming because of the massive snow amounts we had this winter made it tough. The other 2 measurements are my personal bests!
