A thing about the maid outfits, Morrison: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!
MISA is one of my top 3 favorite bassists. Her ability to seamlessly switch from slapping the shit out of those strings to using a pick is goddamn sorcery.
Band-Maid is incredible. You can take almost any of their songs, listen to it ten times, and still find yourself hearing things you never heard before. Everyone in the band does everything they can to make the arrangements absolutely spectacular, and seemingly without ego. "Kinda reminds me of..." This is a phenomenon you will encounter over and over with Band-Maid, they remind you of so many things... and yet they're also unique at the same time. Familiar, yet new. And with regards to all of the musical elements you noted... as we Madiacs will often say, the genre is BAND-MAID!
While the song was written for a fight anime, Band-Maid's hard rock roots are there. They rock hard all the time with really cool lyrics using Japanese and English. For this they use French (Ou la, la, la, la). The anime series they recorded is very popular in France. You will find they have an amazingly proficient "rhythm section" Their bassist, MISA, is world class. So is Akane, their drummer. Kanami, their lead guitarist and composer, is an absolute genius. Miku, their rhythm guitarist, did not know how to play the guitar a decade ago when they started. Kanami became her sensei. Now she is not only a competent rhythm guitarist but brilliant at times. Miku and Saiki, their lead vocalist. are really skilled vocalists and harmonize incredibly well. You should react to their music for the next 30 days. Your reviews will last a lot longer than one month. A suggestion for the next song to react to should be "Hate?", the official live video, and then go back to their start with "Thrill", the official music video, which really started their careers (and kept the band from being broken up).
@@BillHallisey People keep repeating that Miku didn't know how to play guitar when the band started, but even the documentaries show Miku strapping in for some of Saiki's first show with the band, even though the intended paradigm was two lead singers. That was prior to recording Maid in Japan. Also if she'd never played before she would've likely started with an Addic-tone like Kanami instead of a $3000+ Rickenbacker. Why keep repeating a dumbass myth?

Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. Every time I hear a Band-Maid song, the first five or six listens are just for enjoyment. The next 15 or 20 times are to try and hear everything that is going on in their songs: exceptional musicianship, exceptional arrangements.
It's entirely possible that this was something that they didn't feel would fit into the *Sense* EP. But knowing Band- Maid it's hard to think that if they were asked to do an anime theme, they wouldn't just write something from scratch to fit rather than using something on the shelf.

As someone who has listened to countless amounts of pop-punk, I can promise you no one can shred like Kanami especially when she transforms into Mincho.😁 And yes, they blend so many genres and what they blend varies wildly from song to song.

For me who knows and loves Band-Maid for like 2 years now, "protect you" was at first listening a bit too much to comprehend, so you will have a good chance you will like their other songs as well, because for a first time reaction of a song/band i would rate this song a bit difficult. So i´m glad you like it right from the beginning!
Cool, fun reaction. You're right about the punk. I think of them as punk inspired hard rock with some metal influences and pop vocals. Plus hip hop, R&B, and jazz elements in some of their songs. They do a range of things but all pretty intense. Checkout Blooming MV, Domination Live, Manners/Black Hole Live, and From Now On MV. You'll see what I mean.
I've seen all your other "30 Days" videos and just found this one, cool to see the beginning of the Band Maid experience for you. For me they saved music and got me to enjoy it again!
They only have 130 great songs to choose from, an acoustic concert, alter ego Band-Maiko, great musicians, great writing.... You'll learn. Band-Maids genre is Band-Maid. MISA is the bassist. They wrote anime, they're in a couple movies, they rock!
First, it is an anime song. Second, they have a wide variety of songs. Third, if you're going to limit to 30 days you'll have to do at least four songs a day. Last, it's Band Maid.
I know you can't help noticing bass and drum, but you tend to miss a lot because there are so much going on! Listening 10 times isn't enough. The more you listen, you'll pick up more details and the more you'll love it.
Band-Maid will have enough videos for your 30, but they have enough deep album cuts and b-sides that are just as worthy of videos. Avoid the Band-Maid/The Warning fancam floating around (copy strike issues), the song and video will be released soon enough.

I used to play drums and thought I was pretty accurate but Akane makes me look like a drunk at 3:00 a.m. Unless you play drums you probably don't know how hard it is to hit with both hands at the same time at that speed. Without turning into flams.
I no longer bristle at the anime references, as I've discovered that many folks really mean it in a positive light. In this case of course, it literally is for an anime. Mr. React Attack, it will take you many songs to get a "grasp" of their songwriting, their genre defying inventiveness and ridiculous skills both individually and as a collective. And that's not even scratching the surface of how great they are. I won't recommend songs because I'm sure others are and you really can't go wrong. I only hope you keep going with them, because you could listen to 10 songs and NONE of them would sound the same. Oh, and they are a massive source of positive vibes!

I've tried 4 songs now and I just can't get into it. I love The Warning so feel I should like this, but they are poles apart really. It's just all too frantic and seems to lack an actual melody. Lots of skill on show though. A guitar shredding appears to be required on every song. Nah.
as someone whos listened to rock since the 60s, all the music from the 70s forward had guitar solos. so you sound like someone whos not onto rock, but to each his own. Ill take Bandmaid, the Warning and Lovebites everytime. pesonally, i think you need to hear more
Jim, if you have a couple of more tries in you, try Manners for a good mid-tempo hard groove rock song. Daydreaming is another one you may like if you can do a power ballad. In general, if you go back to songs on Just Bring It and World Domination I think you'll be a happy camper. Cheers!
@@stephenkalisz6495 you could not be more incorrect. I, too have been listening to rock since the 60's and love a guitar solo! But I love a guitar solo with feeling, with meaning. Some of the very best guitar solos I've ever heard are super slow and dripping with emotion. (Leslie West, Graig Chaquico, David Gilmour). A guitar shred is a bore more often than not. In this song the solo starts well then show off mode kicks in. I will try another song or two based on the suggestions of the others on here.

A thing about the maid outfits, Morrison: as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids.
Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!

And with regards to all of the musical elements you noted... as we Madiacs will often say, the genre is BAND-MAID!
That's what everyone is saying and I can't wait to dive in!
While the song was written for a fight anime, Band-Maid's hard rock roots are there. They rock hard all the time with really cool lyrics using Japanese and English. For this they use French (Ou la, la, la, la). The anime series they recorded is very popular in France. You will find they have an amazingly proficient "rhythm section" Their bassist, MISA, is world class. So is Akane, their drummer. Kanami, their lead guitarist and composer, is an absolute genius. Miku, their rhythm guitarist, did not know how to play the guitar a decade ago when they started. Kanami became her sensei. Now she is not only a competent rhythm guitarist but brilliant at times. Miku and Saiki, their lead vocalist. are really skilled vocalists and harmonize incredibly well.
You should react to their music for the next 30 days. Your reviews will last a lot longer than one month. A suggestion for the next song to react to should be "Hate?", the official live video, and then go back to their start with "Thrill", the official music video, which really started their careers (and kept the band from being broken up).

That was prior to recording Maid in Japan. Also if she'd never played before she would've likely started with an Addic-tone like Kanami instead of a $3000+ Rickenbacker. Why keep repeating a dumbass myth?

All great musicians and you'll find Misa, the bassist, really shines in this band. The Maids really do clean up 🤔😂. Recommend Thrill, From Now On, Dice, Domination, Onset to start.

For me who knows and loves Band-Maid for like 2 years now, "protect you" was at first listening a bit too much to comprehend, so you will have a good chance you will like their other songs as well, because for a first time reaction of a song/band i would rate this song a bit difficult. So i´m glad you like it right from the beginning!
Cool, fun reaction. You're right about the punk. I think of them as punk inspired hard rock with some metal influences and pop vocals. Plus hip hop, R&B, and jazz elements in some of their songs. They do a range of things but all pretty intense. Checkout Blooming MV, Domination Live, Manners/Black Hole Live, and From Now On MV. You'll see what I mean.
I've seen all your other "30 Days" videos and just found this one, cool to see the beginning of the Band Maid experience for you. For me they saved music and got me to enjoy it again!
They only have 130 great songs to choose from, an acoustic concert, alter ego Band-Maiko, great musicians, great writing.... You'll learn. Band-Maids genre is Band-Maid. MISA is the bassist. They wrote anime, they're in a couple movies, they rock!
First, it is an anime song. Second, they have a wide variety of songs. Third, if you're going to limit to 30 days you'll have to do at least four songs a day.

I know you can't help noticing bass and drum, but you tend to miss a lot because there are so much going on! Listening 10 times isn't enough. The more you listen, you'll pick up more details and the more you'll love it.
Band-Maid will have enough videos for your 30, but they have enough deep album cuts and b-sides that are just as worthy of videos. Avoid the Band-Maid/The Warning fancam floating around (copy strike issues), the song and video will be released soon enough.
Also, it's not a competition, both bands are great and have collaborated. Alternating 15 days of each is certainly possible 😊

I no longer bristle at the anime references, as I've discovered that many folks really mean it in a positive light. In this case of course, it literally is for an anime. Mr. React Attack, it will take you many songs to get a "grasp" of their songwriting, their genre defying inventiveness and ridiculous skills both individually and as a collective. And that's not even scratching the surface of how great they are. I won't recommend songs because I'm sure others are and you really can't go wrong. I only hope you keep going with them, because you could listen to 10 songs and NONE of them would sound the same. Oh, and they are a massive source of positive vibes!

Sadly, this one is average imho.
I've tried 4 songs now and I just can't get into it. I love The Warning so feel I should like this, but they are poles apart really. It's just all too frantic and seems to lack an actual melody. Lots of skill on show though. A guitar shredding appears to be required on every song. Nah.
as someone whos listened to rock since the 60s, all the music from the 70s forward had guitar solos. so you sound like someone whos not onto rock, but to each his own. Ill take Bandmaid, the Warning and Lovebites everytime. pesonally, i think you need to hear more
Jim, if you have a couple of more tries in you, try Manners for a good mid-tempo hard groove rock song. Daydreaming is another one you may like if you can do a power ballad. In general, if you go back to songs on Just Bring It and World Domination I think you'll be a happy camper. Cheers!

@@stephenkalisz6495 you could not be more incorrect. I, too have been listening to rock since the 60's and love a guitar solo! But I love a guitar solo with feeling, with meaning. Some of the very best guitar solos I've ever heard are super slow and dripping with emotion. (Leslie West, Graig Chaquico, David Gilmour). A guitar shred is a bore more often than not. In this song the solo starts well then show off mode kicks in. I will try another song or two based on the suggestions of the others on here.
