Interviewer: Maid outfits aren’t exactly rock ‘n’ roll. What is your ultimate heavy metal costume? MIKU “Now Band-Maid’s outfits are part of rock n roll, so we pick these!” Interviewer: Why should people listen to Band-Maid? MIKU - “We’re not a pop idol group! Don’t judge us on how we look. We want to blow you away with our heavy rock sound.” MIKU “We want a big gap between how we look and how we perform in order to be unique,”. Interviewer - How did BAND-MAID come together? Did any of you know each other before joining the band? MIKU found KANAMI on UA-cam video. Then asked KANAMI to join the band, and then KANAMI brought her friend, the drummer AKANE ...... Then, AKANE brought her friend, the bassist MISA. So the instrumental performers were all gathered through connections between musicians. After that, MIKU decided that she was not a strong enough vocalist for the band. So MIKU went looking for a singer and found SAIKI. KANAMI writes the music and brings that to MSA and AKANE who then refine the music together. MIKU writes the lyrics to the music and SAIKI helps to refine them. In some instances, HATE? for example, SAIKI wrote the song on her own. Bottom line - The band works together as a unit and all members get credit. No ego's in this band after 10+ years.
A few years ago, Jimmy Page of Zeppelin fame went backstage after a Band Maid concert and requested a picture with Akane, the drummer. High praise I believe.

The Maids change their battle gear every year. With the exception of the outfits from their 2021 Christmas Okyu-ji and the video for "Bestie", you can tell when they have done a live or studio. It's like counting the rings of a tree to tell how old it is.

The Maids destroy the live stages: this is a live performance overdubbed with the studio track. The best of both just for you!

As for their Maid Battle Armor, they feel strange when they are not in them. There were two time where they were in other outfits. Their 2021 Christmas Live Acoustic show (tan and red outfits as those are the colors they associated with Christmas) and their "Bestie" OMV (being a collaboration song with Mike Einziger from Incubus, they when with a white theme many refer to as their Angel Battle Armor). BTW...the Maid designs have evolved for each member. Each "new" iteration changing to match their personalities. PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
The interaction between Saiki and Misa was caused by Saiki losing her shoes crowd- surfing on the previous song. Her shoes fell off and she returned to the stage barefoot. Misa always plays barefoot and they were laughing about it while playing Real Existence. If you watch Saiki you can see she is barefoot
