rockeyemk2 Possible. But something about it screams GR (or GR mix). An old friend of mine had one that looked similar to this dog (but it was much fatter than this dog) and was a GR. I am in no way a breed expert though.

Tom Cat I agree with you but there is always a minority in every group of animals who naturally distrust men , even when they are domesticated . A friend of mine has a cat that genuinely hate humans lol . the cat has 2 siblings and they were all raised with much love and care, never left his apartment or had an accident of any sort . the other cats are very affectionate and easy going but that one cat is just plain evil lol , he hides behind doors and when someone comes , he scratches their legs , he refuses to be petted by anyone but his owner , he hisses when approached, ecetera . he has been that way since "kittenhood" . anyways my point is , animals have various personalities, just like us, but on average i'm sure there are more cool dogs and cats than cool humans :D

@Dillinger That's actually not entirely correct. It was more like the wolves selecting the humans, since they found out that helping humans would earn them food. We just accepted them since they were useful but it wasn't really us making the first move.

Antonio Marcos Indeed they are! MY German Shepard one day found an Baby bunny ( Sadly it was dead ), and he was gently holding it in his mouth and seT it on my lap gently. It was freezing out as well, so the baby bunny was most likely moved out by its mother and my German Shepard wanted to help It.

I lived in mainland China for a number of years.
I brought home some of my favorite recipes, here's one you may like to try!
(Serves 4)
1 young adult cat, skinned, gutted, deboned cut into small pieces (Male Black Cats have the best flavor!)
2 garlic cloves, smashed
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 bunch broccoli (about 1 lb.)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 cups beef broth
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 cup fresh mung bean sprouts
Preparation:
Combine cat, garlic, ginger and soy sauce in a bowl, mix well and let stand. (At least a half hour)
Wash broccoli thoroughly and cut into florets. Trim and peel stems and cut into 1/4-inch thick slices.
Heat 1 Tbsp. oil in a large nonstick skillet or wok over high heat, add broccoli florets and stems, then stir-fry for 2 minutes.
Add 1/2 cup water and stir until water evaporates.
Transfer broccoli to a plate.
Add remaining oil to pan, add cat mixture and stir-fry for 3 minutes.
Stir together broth and cornstarch, add to meat and stir-fry until sauce is thickened, about 3 minutes longer.
Add broccoli and bean sprouts, then cook, stirring, until heated through, about 2 minutes.
BTW: If you tell everyone that you are a "cat lover" they will be happy to bring you all of the stray cats from their neighborhoods.

If your dog is bored, lonely, or simply wants to get your attention, it’s not uncommon for them to bury things to get you to “play” with them.
Also it could want to cover the babys scent dogs bury smelly things a lot of the time if you have ever seen that video of the dog trying to "apparently" revive the fish by pushing water onto it with his nose he;s actually trying to cover the scent.
Melissa Stewart that may or may not be the truth. many dogs are surprisingly sentimental. I've watched many mimic their owners and continue these actions even after. tucking in a baby for example. a cousin of mine had a lab and she liked to watch my cousin care for her baby. one time she felt like trying herself, the baby cried so she ran into the room and tried soothing the child by tucking her in. it was adorable :).
Tana Collier yes we all know its more cute to think that. dogs are very dog instinctual like they don't know what tucking in a child means or even is. sorry. they very rarely display human like traits. how else do dogs mimic their owners besides training them?? lol explain. Not saying it couldn't have been trying to be nice to the kid but it probably wanted to play with him to cheer him up as a dog not tuck him in... A dog does not understand that human action.
Melissa Stewart no, they don't understand human interaction, just like anyone else doesn't understand someone who doesnt speak their language. We can look at other cultures and unless we know their language we can only guess as to why they do what they do. That doesn't change the fact that dogs like other animals DO understand to a point, at the very least they TRY to understand by observing. These "human traits" you speak of aren't exclusive to humans. All animals watch and learn, all have feelings and understand that other animals have feelings. She may not understand why my cousin tucked in her baby, but she observed and attempted to understand by trying it herself.

Yep, no 1 dog of all time =). Smart, loyal, strong, playful and loving. There's a reason why the most commonly occurring breed in this vid was the GSD.

That seems to be an inexplicable understanding that some dogs seem to have about humans!
I recently had the flu with a passing fever and then uncomfortable cold chills.
I felt so very cold that I went to my bed and covered myself to try to warm up.
My dog saw that I was literally trembling with cold, he jumped up onto the bed, nosed his way under the covers and pressed himself tightly against me to warm me.
It worked!
He has never done anything like that before or since.
That is just one of the reasons that dogs are such precious companions, and will always be this "man's best friend"!

My cat does this all the time..every single night she'll lie her head on my pillow and squirm toward me until she can't get any closer. My cat is the most affectionate and loving animal I've ever met.

people training the dogs for people who can't help themselves that is a good thing
++Suzy Feezle I know I'm supposed to feel empathy for people, but when I see a service dog, I feel sorry that their entire life will be serving a human...
Don't feel down about this. Service dogs go through extensive training early in life to make sure that sort of life is something they're both naturally good at, and that they want to do. If a dog doesn't have the personality for it, then they'll be pulled from training and most likely continue life as a pet. The vast majority of service dogs find real pleasure and fulfillment from helping and having a job to do, and that's why certain dog breeds excel as service animals more than others. Maybe try to volunteer with a service dog trainer sometime? You'll see how happy these dogs really are in their work.

Dogs, other than the toy and non-sporting breeds *need* jobs. Working dogs need to work, terriers need to dig, hounds need to track. It's in their DNA. Dogs are no different than people when it comes to finding a purpose in life. You shouldn't feel sorry for a dog with a job, Lucy, I assure you that they're very happy doing it. Feel sorry for a husky or a border collie that lives in an apartment.

My favorite one is the dog carrying it's kitten up the stairs. This clip doesn't show it but the dog was told not to help the kitten but the dog does it anyway.
Getting a beer and tucking in the baby are intrinsic parts of this dad's life right here. Good to know that puppers are lookin out when ole dad is tired and needs to relax.

That's how dogs carry their puppies. The skull is the hardest part of the animal's body, so especially at that age it's safest to carry it by the back or top of the head; any other way could end up in broken bones.
Also dogs don't use their teeth when carrying their young, they mainly grip with their outer gums and lips.

Very vaguely, like, fuzzy to the point of almost being pointless, I remember our family dog named Max. I was a baby, I just started gaining memories. Couldn't crawl let alone walk yet and stayed in a crib. Two constants in my early years besides my parents, and that was Ceemee (Can't remember how her name was spelled), our Persian kitten who slept in my crib and comforted me, and Max who guarded it. Small dog, can't remember what the dog breed is called, but he was definitely a good boy. Kept me save, and if I started crying because I was scared, he would yip and let me pet him, even if I pulled hard enough to hurt him, he didn't shy away. He sadly passed away from something, not old age but he didn't get run over or anything. Don't know what took him, but even to this day I still remember him. We later got several standard poodles (Including two mutant ones, I say mutant ones because they're bigger than mastiffs and slightly shorter than Great Danes. They were huge.). I miss them.
I brought my dogs through nearly their entire life cycle. So devastating to train them to befriend them to love them, to lose them. I did everything I could possible to give them a good life, but what a hole it leaves when they die.
