Today’s painting is inspired by a photo taken by one of my patreon members, Karen Williams, of a beautiful bald eagle sitting perched on a post overlooking the mountains. Karen told me that she stopped and snapped this photo while driving over a bridge in Alaska. In this tutorial, you will learn fundamental beginner painting techniques, including, color theory, one brushstroke, stippling, and scumbling, in order to create this beautiful scenery animal portrait painting. You will learn how to mix and blend acrylic paint to create vibrant and captivating colors for your wall art. In the ten easy steps it takes to create this masterpiece wall design, you will learn how to paint a background with atmospheric dimension, how to paint a sky, how to paint clouds, how to paint a landscape, how to draw and paint a bald eagle, how to paint facial features on a bird, how to paint feathers, and how to paint a weathered post perch by adding highlights and shadows to create depth and dimension, and how to layer colors to create texture and form to your subject. Brushes: 3/4 inch flat bristle, #8 round synthetic, #3 round synthetic
Acrylic Paint: titanium white, mars black, cobalt blue, green oxide, deep yellow, burnt sienna (rust) and burnt umber (brown)
Other: Pencil, cup of water for washing brushes, paper towel for drying brushes

STEPS:
1. Pencil - Draw outline for landscape
2. 3/4 inch bristle brush - Paint base coat on canvas with black, white, blue
3. 3/4 inch bristle brush - Finish land with brown, green, white, background blue (made in step 2)
4. 3/4 inch bristle brush - Finish sky and clouds with gray (made in step 2), background blue, white, yellow, brown, rust
5. Pencil - Draw outline for bird and posts
6. #8 round brush - Paint base coat for posts and bird with black, brown, white, rust, light tan (made in step 4)
7. #8 and #3 round brushes - Finish posts with dark brown (made in step 6), black, white, yellow, green, rust
8. #3 round brush - Finish head with white, yellow, brown, black, light brown, rust
9. #3 round brush - Finish wings and feathers with dark brown, rust, white, black
10. #3 round brush - Sign with black

It looks like a blue n white flag w the sky ! I'm going bv to try to incorporate some red in the sky on this. It's very patriotic w the eagle and that wave in the sky. Maybe the underside of the white clouds showing a red sunset behind them ?

Hey Bestie. Super eagle. There is a pair on a nest on my property. In On 🇨🇦 even. Never heard of it before. I don’t think I have the ability to tweak those posts for tree tops and flatten those hills a wee bit. Then presto it would be just what I need. Lol. Whats the chances…..da……none…..lol. Yours will just have to do. And why not its perfect just the way it is. And no I don’t have a picture . Maybe thats what the planes are flying over for. Hum…..BBout

This is awesome!!! You have really peaked my interest with the last couple of paintings. I usually do bits and pieces of your paintings...I paint on a 4x4 round for coasters. But I want to do the last 4 in total. I finally on the 4th try got the roses are red painting. I had to just walk away for awhile...but it turned out great for me. As always Thank you for being you. How while painting do you keep your acrylics from drying out. ? I like you foggy mystical, cute/sweet figures. or flowers.
