    Residue, or corrosion on the lead sheath is not just on the area seen underneath the drip pan tray but can further extend all the way up to the light socket. If that’s the case, the wire sheath and light switch will need completely removed to inspect, clean and repair any damage to the wires.     On two of my featherweights . There is shrink tubing on it. Does this mean it was previously repaired or is it possible it came from the manufacture that way?

    Is it safe to heat shrink the tubing with an open flame lighter near where you've cleaned with kerosene? (flash or fire danger?) If I don't have a heat gun, could a hair dryer work?
