      Exactly! Like two years ago, I had my hair as long as bellow my waist and never cut it. And it looked really good! You just have to be gentle with it and do as she says here on the video and you'll have a long silky hair.

      Cutting your hair doesn't do anything for perfectly healthy hair. It really only helps if someone has damaged hair like being too dry, split ends, etc.
      I don't cut my hair at all because it's perfectly healthy and it grows extremely fast

      +Catarina do you use heat ?

    • @extracoffeemug
      @extracoffeemug 8 років тому

      Occasionally, yes. I always use heat protection though and my hair is thin but I have a lot of hair and it gets frizzy thus why I use the oils (helps nourish and smooth it). Try using garnier oils with Argan Oil ( I dunno the name of it right now) or Syoss heat protection those are the best for my hair.

      I'm a 3c-ish. I'm in my 40's and growing my hair out from a short bob. When I was young, my hair was to my chest, but I didn't care. I'm bored with short hair so I'm growing it out. Less heat and deep conditioning as she mentions has helped a lot. When I was young, my hair wasn't chemically straightened, but now it is. My relaxer is mild. I've noticed, 1st 3 weeks, just blow drying and wrapping my hair is enough. People tell me my hair looks better than it did before. It's actually soft. It's grown about 4 inches since August.
      The tips work for "us" as well. :)

    Hey guys! Just a heads up that if you have severe split ends during the process of growing your hair, you can totally go ahead and trim them to prevent them from worsening - but the goal is to keep your ends as protected and healthy as possible to reduce the need for trims. Do what's best for you! xxx

      Yeah some of mine are so chemically damaged and dry , I don't have much choice than trimming on regular basis until my hair is all natural again . and if I just let my hair grow without cutting for over 3-4 months, my ends are growing thin (I had layers) it's just ugly.

    • @tashateacup
      @tashateacup 8 років тому +2

      i guess it depends on how you treat your hair then, like you said :) cause I don't find split ends a problem I feel like any trims I get would be a waste of length!

      @nile8146 8 років тому

    • @MissWsu
      @MissWsu 8 років тому +12

      I agree because my hair grew faster when I stopped getting trims. But the reason people say that comes from an actual good reason. Once you get split ends they can not go away without trimming and many people with damaged hair struggling to grow it out need trims often or the split ends will continue splitting upward until they eventually break off thus the length will be lost and the hair will thin at the ends..

    • @ollie1753
      @ollie1753 3 роки тому

      It's because of the split ends... if you don't get rid of the split ends they will ride up the hair shaft, making your hair break, and it won't matter if your hair grows BECAUSE IT WILL KEEP BREAKING OFF and will not be able to retain that long length you desire. so yes trims or at least dustings are necessary at least once or twice a year

      Unfortunately every person has a length their hair will stop growing. My moms hair won't grow past her boobs and she doesn't do anything to her hair that damages it.
      My hair however can go past my butt easily, try biotin and eat good foods to see if those help but your hair might just have its stopping point where it's already at.

    • @iBriLicious
      @iBriLicious 8 років тому +8

      GIRL SAME. What sucks is that the older you get the slower your hair grows back. Which is why little kids can grow their hair out quickly but once they're a teenager/adult, their hair will never grow as fast almost ever. I regret cutting my super long butt-length hair at about 12 years old because it's taken 5/6 years to grow back and it's still not even down to my butt again, and I never even cut my hair above my shoulders. It was a hard lesson for me to learn :( lol NEVER AGAIN :'(

    I had long hair, experimented with short hair, and am now in the process of growing it out again. In the beginning of growing it out, I would get a trim when I would start noticing a few split ends and after way too long, my hair had barely made any progress. I have stopped heat except for when going out somewhere important and found other ways to style and my hair has grown so much more in just a few months than in nearly a year of trying to get it to grow with the occasional trim (and those trims by the way, the hairdresser would always take off more than what I told him to, if you have to, I would recommend trimming it yourself).

  • @SandraLakshmi
    @SandraLakshmi 8 років тому

    You are 100% right! Trims doesn't do anything for faster growing. My hair is over 90cm long and I started from a bob. I guess it took me only 3 years to grow it to my butt. Keeping them healthy is the key and also a good healthy diet. Most people forget about that. Hair also need the right nutrition to stay strong and healthy.

    • @themilkclub
      @themilkclub  8 років тому

      +SandraLakshmi I definitely agree! Keep the ends healthy and eat right. I also totally understand some people prefer to have regular trims too. It all depends on how healthy you keep your hair/ends and how quickly you want to grow it!

    My hair is nearly this long. I agree with basically everything she says! I do have bleached and dyed blue hair - since I do have processed and long hair I use professional grade products (olaplex and joico) and wash my hair only 1-2x a week and style it only 1x per week. My biggest suggestion is starting at the bottom and working my way up so as not to pull out hair - which is super easy when your hair is this long.
    Biggest long hair pet-peeve is when my son or husband try and cuddle up next to me and lay on my hair, or when my hair gets caught in random hangers in tiny aisles at stores!

    I've been growing my hair out since a spur-of-the-moment pixie cut in the summer of '14, and sometimes my resolve wavers, but watching your videos is what really made me finally COMMIT to growing out my hair. It's a pleasure to see how much care you take and how deliberate you are with your routines! One question, though -- do you do anything particular when sleeping? I've heard some people with super-long hair like to braid it to go to sleep or use satin pillowcases to avoid the hair getting tangled/breaking when they sleep, but I'm not sure if there's any truth to that actually helping. Thanks! :)

    • @themilkclub
      @themilkclub  8 років тому +1

      +Brough Superiors so glad this video was helpful for you! as for sleeping, over all the years of growing my hair I have not done anything special. I just tie it in a low, semi-loose ponytail so it's out of the way and comfortable. You also mentioned silk pillowcases and I recently got a high quality silk pillowcase for Christmas (which I requested!) mainly for it's skin benefits, but it does happen to have benefits for hair as well. So I would recommend high quality silk pillowcases in general as they are great for both skin and hair (plus they look so pretty and luxurious) EDIT: but they are not at all necessary for growing long healthy hair, a regular 100% soft cotton pillowcase is just fine

      +Victoria Smith you can disguise any damage on the ends of your hair with either of the oil products I mentioned, so you can always try that first before getting too much cut off to maintain the length! even just a little bit of oil on dry ends can help smooth them over and make them look glossy and healthy :-)

    I had my hair long enough to sit on when I was a kid. I cut my hair chin-length in 2004, and again in 2008. It's been down to my butt ever since. Heat styling is only something I do for special occasions, otherwise I just braid it & let it be wavy like a goddess'. I use oil of morocco argan oil instead of conditioner. I've had dyes and perms, but I haven't used any since 2013, so my hair is totally natural now. Every three or four months I use Fiole 3+1 for a long-term treatment.

    • @twiggyjali
      @twiggyjali 8 років тому

      Brushing your hair too often will increase stress and cause breakage. Using too much product can discolor and dry out your hair. Avoid silicones, they are total garbage for your hair!! Use oils instead and apply from the ears down, being sure not to get it in your roots. Some oils can clog the roots, causing hair loss. Always rinse very well and avoid heat whenever possible. All you really need is shampoo, argan oil, and a leave-in conditioner like ID Care. The rest is up to your genetics and how roughly you handle your hair.

    • @twiggyjali
      @twiggyjali 8 років тому

      Massaging the scalp gently will help stimulate the follicles. Also, your hair grows faster in warm months than cold.
      My hair is presently around 30" long, and it grows pretty fast.

  • @playhaleyasong

    if you don't get trims, your split ends (EVERYONE has them, even healthy virgin hair) will continue to split up the hair shaft, and then break off even shorter. so by trimming the ends and cutting the split ends off, you are protecting the hair cuticle and preventing farther breakage, resulting in healthier hair.

    • @themilkclub
      @themilkclub  8 років тому +2

      +Haley Rose That's a good point! I do think most people have even a little split ends (although can't speak for everybody, who really knows). However for me personally, I have gone over a year without trimming mild split ends, continuously taking excellent care of my hair, and they have not broken off. Also the goal isn't necessarily to never trim your hair, but to at least reduce the amount of trims needed by protecting the ends. In the end we are all different so I assume people will use their common sense to take care of their hair in a way that works for their unique hair type. thanks for your comment! x

    My hair is to my knees....I do very little to it. I scalp only wash twice a week and wash and condition the length once every two weeks or so, trim occasionally, I oil once in a while with olive or coconut oil and I do use an oil with cones...my hair is so fine I cannot do without them. I use proper brushing techniques (always have) and wear it UP, either with a stick or hair fork.

    Hi! You are so angelic in this video, lovely hair. I grew my hair out a lot last year (I have before/after pic in my latest video)...I'm hoping to grow it more, great tips! but I do try to stay away from silicones...I thought they build up in your hair and require harsh shampoo to remove. What are your thoughts on that?

    • @themilkclub
      @themilkclub  8 років тому +2

      +Barefoot Globetrot thank you! and there are definitely some misconceptions about silicone, but there's no need to worry as you do not need harsh shampoos or ingredients to remove them :-) plus I've been using them for years and it has not been a problem. if you're still not sure, check out this article (scroll down to the question from Lara and the answer): www.paulaschoice.com/community/dear-paula/_/dear-paula-hair and also this article on silicone as a cosmetic ingredient: www.paulaschoice.com/cosmetic-ingredient-dictionary/definition/silicone

      Switch shampoo! Dont wash your hair eceryday.. Stop wearing it in a tight ponytail/pun, and instead wear a lose braid. It could be stress! Just take care of you and your hair :) Don't forget: It's autumn and humans are animals. It's normal to lose more hair between end of august and end of november 😊

      Take primrose oil capsules! (two capsules each day) Sometimes hairloss can be because of lack of vitamins. Primrose oil benefits the hair growth. Good luck!

    I just cut off all my hair to donate it. It rests at my collar bone now. I really hope it grows quickly. Also, I was watching some of your older videos and noticed you wear coloured contacts. Are they circle lenses? I really want to experiment with lenses but I'm super nervous because of the horror stories I've heard. I'm not even sure where I'd get them. Any info or tips you could give would be greatly appreciated ^^

    • @themilkclub
      @themilkclub  8 років тому +6

      +Abbey Alizabeth that's wonderful of you to donate my hair. if I ever cut it I would definitely do the same. as for my lenses, yes they are circle lenses! although I've experimented with regular optometrist-bought coloured lenses before. I suggest only buying from major reputable sites and brands. I've purchased from a few here and there so I can't rec any specific ones but stick to any major sites with good reviews, only purchasing well-known reputable brands. If you are less experienced with coloured lenses of any kind, I highly rec visiting your optometrist first and buying their brands of coloured lenses. Generally most coloured lenses of any type do not feel the same as everyday plain prescription lenses and it's ideal not to wear them for as long. For me when I buy online I always soak my new contact lenses in my own contact lens solution for at least 24 hours before wearing. I also rub them with solution to clean them well. For circle lenses, I only wear maximum of 5-6 hours a day or less, plus I always set a reminder for a couple of weeks before their expiry date and throw them out. I hope that helps! x

      some people believe that their hair has a maximum length it can grow. by not cutting it you may have discovered this :/ otherwise get a blood test/check in with your doc.

    I grew my hair 4 years... and it barely got past my shoulders... :( my hair is thin. at about 4 inches past my shoulders it starts breaking and thinning and my hair is ALREADY SUPER THIN. I don't have thick hair to start. And my hair doesn't look good long unless I put extensions in it to fill it out. I don't know why. :( at two inches below my shoulders- no splits no nothing. my hair is super healthy at that length.

      I am thinking about cutting it down, not dying it, starting over with great shampoo and product, and trying some tips...? No idea if that will help. But my natural color is not nice. It looks like pure grease if I DON'T dye it. But that might be because I am using the wrong thing. I noticed using my dog's shampoo my hair finally feels good...? But I have tried plenty of stuff people rec on these channels and like... ug dog shampoo and like mane and tail- I keep going back to those. The only things that seem to work for my hair. I don't know what is going on with my hair.

    • @themilkclub
      @themilkclub  8 років тому +19

      I can sum that up in this comment - I pinned it to the left side of my face and used the hair on my left side to cover the pin (it gave the illusion of tucking my hair behind my ear). this is how I developed my current hairstyle that I always wear LOL except now it's long enough that I just tuck it and no longer need a pin.
