Besides of efficiency and quality, you know when a Rover is coming, once you look at it, YOU KNOW is a Rover, square and ugly, that is exactly what makes it beautiful. Greetings from the other side of the world. ¡PURA VIDA!
We love the new Defender! Take a look at the Hardtop commercial variant. Lots of possibilities with that one. Another fantastic video. We enjoy following along with your journey so much. The Land Rover meet was great to see as quite a few large LR meets were canceled this year in the US.
Got my eye on the 90" Commercial providing long term reliability isn't an issue, will give it a year to see how things work out, no air suspension to worry about but l think it will still have an auto transmission, would prefer stickshift!
You should take a good look at your shock mount as soon as you can. In the close-up shots at 8:40 and 8:54 you can see the whole bolt moving about so something's gotta be loose or damaged. Don't want to get your chassis damaged, let alone have something worse happen. Stay safe out there!
The new defender is a big disappointment, that doesn't mean I'm against modernising vehicles but they've got the new defender completely wrong. It's just a posh suv that must be a nightmare to work on without taking it to a dealership every other day. It's for a new generation I suppose, but i certainty don't like it. @@ChurchDenton I would get a 79 series land cruiser personally, but regarding this new defender 18-20 inch rims, air suspension here in Africa forget it, people who don't live in remote places or under developed countries with very rough terrain and very bad roads don't understand that air suspension, large rims designed for tarmac driving with very low profile tyres and total dependence on electronics does not work and if it has any kind of issue which I'm sure it will have many more than the original, to have to be taken to a dealership to be fixed is ridiculous. There is an average of about 1 land rover dealership every 1000km out here, how is this new vehicle practical for this part of the world? At least with simpler 4x4s not just classic defenders most issues are fixable in remote parts of Africa. Based on some of the other documented experiences, I would not take a new Defender the same places you've taken yours. You've managed to acquire parts and had service performed by people that might not necessarily have a lot of experience or technical documentation specific to your truck, and they've been successful even to the point of rebuilding axle components. A new Defender is a modern electronics-heavy car that's loosely Defender-shaped. Land Rover/Jaguar/British vehicles are not known for dependable electronics. Having a new one with DEF and having electronic lockers and all the other fancy electronics would scare the hell out of me as an overland platfom. As nice and comfy as they appear, being broke down because of an electronic glitch in the middle of nowhere in Afghanistan would not be fun, warranty or no warranty! Sometimes, older is just better... Best of luck!
Just one sentence made me really smile:”I don’t even remember the last time I was driving off-road. Must’ve been in Afghanistan!” HOW MANY PEOPLE IN THIS WORLD COULD SAY THAT ? Suppose not too many. You’ve come a looong way...
Thanks for the vid. Every single vehicle in the convoy was spick and span and kept in top condition. It’s great to see club outings like that. As for your comment about the new Defender, I agree. Purist Land Rover owners should be ashamed to denounce and promote hate and negativity about a new Land Rover in the 21st century. We are all in the one Land Rover family and should embrace and support one another as shown in this vid.
But does every modern land rover have to be another luxury suv with air suspension and 20 inch rims designed by clueless accountants? Simplicity and practicality with some modern touches is still needed from 4x4s in many parts of the world but the new one is ridiculous.
Its nice but its not a Defender any more. Its cool super car. Can you imagine what will be with it in 10 years time aspecaly if you drive it off road. 🤔 Anderv P. White made a grat reviev.
Main problem of all new cars... they are designed as „disposable“. Spare parts are sold for 5-10 years and after that the manufacturer wants to force you into buying a new car. That is why my „new” Land Rover is over 40 years old. That one will be on the road until they stop selling petrol and than it is easy to convert it to an electrically engine.
Hi,there! salut Stéph , Hello Leigh ! I gonna write in French it'll be easyer ;-) Alors voilà... le nouveau Defender est certes très beau... I must admit that the new Defender looks cool 😎, but would I give my 130 away for a new Defender? Clear answer “No” to travel around the world, my Defender is my love 😍 an I would never give it up. I felt in love with Defender as a child and it is still the same. 😀👍🏻
You 2 are so lucky you can say over Japanese famili nov don't you have a great time there injoy
that's allot of Landys
haha...never climbed a tree with a harness and rope before. If you fall there's lots of branches to catch you! ;-)
Did he say the rooftop conversion is made in South Africa
Yes he did 😉 Alucab is South African I think?
The alucab is imported from ZA . Conversion done in Japan.
Actually it was Mongolia. 😉 but not very off-road. I mean everything is pretty much off-road there. But very flat. Miss those big open spaces.
Defenders leading range rovers at back the Japanese have it in the right order, as always
Not cheap , I’m buying a Fuso cantor 4x4 to build my expedition truck . Price brand new single can , quoted $58950 plus on rds
The Fuso is
The Fuso is no longer available in the US.

You are entitled to your opinion. Cheers 🦘

hola desde republic Dominican
2:45, I know you are a good climber..
Its nice but its not a Defender any more. Its cool super car. Can you imagine what will be with it in 10 years time aspecaly if you drive it off road. 🤔
Anderv P. White made a grat reviev.
I don't like it... But X-Mas is coming. Trust me, I wouldn't be mad at all.
Would you take it in the bush in Australia?
No chance 😜
I’m sure Land Rover won’t have sleepless nights worrying what you think 🤔
Main problem of all new cars... they are designed as „disposable“. Spare parts are sold for 5-10 years and after that the manufacturer wants to force you into buying a new car. That is why my „new” Land Rover is over 40 years old. That one will be on the road until they stop selling petrol and than it is easy to convert it to an electrically engine.
Why so many cars with UK plates on still?
They are all fake plates for decoration 😉
Hi,there! salut Stéph , Hello Leigh !
New Defender is made incorporating the North American soccer mom SUV platform to target the American Market. Land Rover should bring back its iconic defender back
G’day Leigh why you didn’t dig deeper for the new Defender grave..... Haha.. guess it was a rental car and he lost the 200 dollar bond !!!!! Or so.. I still wonder this car has still a steering wheel and not a Joystick !! Cheers mate and keep the sunny side up !
Jak is not coming?
