Shook A Swarm Of Bees & Caught A Dozen Eggs!

- These nice folks called me about a honey bee swarm on/in their Meyer lemon tree. This tree is full of killer thorns & the bees were all up in this thing!
I shook the swarm, caged the queen & left the hive box there until nightfall. Went back & took them away, along with a dozen free range eggs to boot!
The eggs were delicious & my wife & I went through them pretty fast!
I sure hope Ms. Vicky gets bees again, them eggs sure are good!

It's like an extreme game of "Where's Waldo" looking for the queen lol.
It's mindblowing that you're this calm while standing in the middle of a swarm, i love it
He is. Have you seen him laugh while he’s getting stung?
They're quite docile in a swarm. Break into a hive that's full of honey and then you get aggression.
Out fishing on a 10,000 acre lake yesterday. My boat became the landing zone for a bee 🐝 swarm. Watching your videos told me to remind calm. I took my boat towards the shoreline. Which was about 100 feet away. I slowly fanned the bee clusters and they finally left my boat. It took about 45 minutes.
good on ya! thanks for your patience, and for being a friend to the bees. sounds like you did very well :)
I'd probably still be sitting there frozen. Strangely around bees I tend to freeze up so I don't disturb them & get stung. Then I run like hell.
That or I'd be swimming for it.
Thank you for doing that.
That's awesome!
An old Sicilian saying goes: The hen that walks comes back with a full goiter. This is what happened to you. I've been following you for a long time thanks for your videos. Greetings from Sicily
What a great homeowner “I didn’t want them killed, but rehabilitated”
I'm sure that was an autocorrect error. But isn't that homeowner great! I love a person who respects all suburban wildlife, especially the misunderstood ones. 💚 🦎🕷🐝🌎
What’s in that honeycomb 🤣🤣 🐝 🍹
Rehabilitated 😂😂😂😂😂
lol! whoops!
Bees are really quite pretty, aren’t they? I used to be scared of them, due to being stung badly as a kid, but ever since I started actually looking for real information about them, my fear has turned into respect and admiration. They’re amazing creatures.
Dam I'd be pissed xD they made you their bitch essentially?
These people did not want the bees killed so they called you. Now that is a nice thing, keep it up.
I love how most people move gingerly around bees, scared to get stun. Then JP comes along ready just to scoop them up by hand. 9:41 Love when he just dumps them in the box and bangs on the lid to get the rest of them to fall off. lol
Mrs Vicki is so sweet....loves her chickens...Great Job 🐝man..👈🏾👈🏾💯💯
A nice swarm and a dozen farm fresh eggs..score!👍🏻
Good to see you again mate. Let the glorious swarm season begin. 🐝❤️
Hi from Russia! l keep bees too. I like watching your videos.👍
You have the best attitude ever and yes the free range eggs are the best and the chickens are also happy as they deserve to be
You are one of the greatest bee whispers I’ve had the privilege of watching 💞
eggcellent swarm catch there JP. Boy those thorns are like natural barbed wire.
"This will kill you" with the thorny branch @2:39 😆
...followed up by, "You know I'm gonna eat" at the end. 🥚🥚🥚
I wonder if JP is orchestrating bee colonies by day and record labels by night? 🐝🎙️
Hi there JP glad to see another upload keep them coming love from England 🏴

Hi JP, for cold tolerant avocado varieties check out TopTropical site list of avocado trees.
Love the Meyer Lemon thorn rap.
Great job JP.
Nice swarm! Those thorns, though! And your pruning of that shrub is only going to make it come back even bigger and fuller.
I can't stop watching your videos, really makes me want some bee's. I have the green thumb for them. I was thinking wild flowers!!! You bee the man JP 👍👍👍
Couldn't wait for your new video JP.learnt alot from you bro.

Love what you do. Have watched lots but on my TV and not my computer so I couldn't comment or like, but I like them all. The marches are the best. You sure are good at what you do and reading the hives.
Always a good day when you post a new video.
This mans original music tho 🤣. "you know i'm gonna eat"
The bees on the camera lense is a good Special effect, great mate
This guy is a true bee whisper 👍👍👍
Such a wonderful thing I'm just too scared of them lol... just glad there's people that look after them as much as possible.
The best thing in this so far is getting free honey and a hive to keep, totally worth it and fun to do
I love watching the bees!! These videos are great, thank you! I just subscribed!
Loving the music, great upload as always
I love all his music samples too
You're the man JP! Best channel on UA-cam.
Hi Jp ... Wow amazing swarm
i love watching your videos because i love that La. accent. i live in north Georgia just a few miles south of Chattanooga. we dont have a pretty accent
Avocado tree... you always need two of the correct, different, varieties to get fruit.
As far as your freezing weather just get the right varieties. I'm in zone 9a, but I still had a couple of nights at 20 f... no special protection, and the Avocados had no issues..didn't even drop their leaves
In all my years living in southeast, Louisiana I’ve only seen one large thriving avocado tree. The homeowner said it definitely took its blows over the years due to cold spells & there were areas that looked dead or messed up as I recall but he said when it produced fruit there were tons to be had!
@JPthebeeman then there was at least one other avocado within pollination range. type A has flowers, which produce pollen in the morning and accepts pollen in the afternoon, and type B in the morning and pollen in the afternoon. Mother nature doing her best to prevent them from self gratification I guess lol.
I did live in LA for a few years (courtesy of uncle sam), and I would guess that the biggest threat is water in your area. Avocados don't like wet feet. I rented a house on an old homestead which had a couple of massive avocados, no fruit, but the owner said lots when he was a kid. The homestead was about 20 miles south of ft polk and the trees were 60 years old.
Definitely not discounting your experience, but there are avocados that thrive there, just plant well clear of wet ground.
And I enjoy your videos..keep up the great work.
It has been a long time not to watch your bees film. Hope you are always in good health
Doing well, thanks. 👍🐝
You most have been very good at where's Waldo to find all those queen bees 😂🐝
Another great video, thanks JP!
Spring greetings to you from upstate NY
Those were beautiful eggs!
The original parent root stock of citrus, still used as a base for grafting onto, is called a thorn. But I didn't know the spines were that vicious-looking. I'm glad you didn't impale your hand, JP! I would suggest the lady property owner have a frame built over the avocado and a frost cloth placed over it during winter. This may help. Col, B of I, NZ
Frost cloth and a string of incandescent Christmas tree lights under it. I saved my small avocado and citrus trees from a freeze, 22 degrees (-5.5 Celsius) last Christmas.
One of my bees stung me above my eyebrow...
Next morning I wake up with a Yappy Eye
Man love these videos. Anyway you can show what boxes and queen clips you use?
Stainless clips from Dadant. Boxes, some home made, some from Mann Lake, some from Shastina Millworks out of Oregon.
I prefer Mann Lake’s frames, Dadant’s smokers, always with heat shield.
We had an avocado tree in California when I was growing up. I am allergic, but I only learned that after developing a taste for fresh avocados.
Did you know that avocado do not grow true to seed. So if you had an avocado tree that produced good fruit it was almost certainly grafted from an already existing good avocado tree.
🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝👍👍👍👍👍👍
Amazing 👏
We have a Eureka lemon tree here in San Diego, and boy do I know those thorns my goodness!! Maybe not as big...yeah they're that big who am I kidding! Great to see ya JP, those were a lot of bees!
Just winging those branches all over the place 😜
Always fun to watch you get some easy swarms. Till next time JP.
I really enjoy watching bee videos, they're awesome little creatures!!
What a lovely lady! Great video as always!
I love the sound they make when they hit the box. I also love the buzzing. Bzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Love watching a good swarm catch. Our season is just getting started.
Great video upload. Entertaining and enjoyable throughout. Superb attitude towards these insects. Quite brave tackling a task such as this. Always the possibility of being stung. Hope the bees were re-homed somewhere safe. Thanks for sharing.
I am late watching your vide0 this time I have been unwell now I watch your video has made me feel very much better I just love watching your videos I missed the queen I always try and find her first but you beat me this time hope to see some more off the videos very soon
So they will simply stay in the box and build their cones? Cool!
Can we get a sting Counter on all future videos?
Thanks for sharing buddy
9:45 oh hello
244th! GOOD MORNING JP! When I lived in Denver, we had a huge bush in the back yard. Went out to mow the lawn and as soon as I started it, the bees came out of it and attacked. The next morning I went out and took a look around the bush and saw a huge swarm bunched up. But a few days later I went back and they were gone. I’m lucky I wasn’t allergic, I was stung 6-8 times before I got back to the house. Roger in Pierre South Dakota
I love this find it very therapeutic and interesting nice work beeman :-)
Your a beast always enjoy watching your work
Hi JP 👋 nice to see you

Quality free eggs
Nice swarm JP. Bonus free range eggs!!
OMG fresh eggs!
Love your videos !!! From Maryland
When we saw them flying around the bush and there was so many of them we called you because we didn't want them killed - they're our pollinators. Now you think about that for a minute and honestly tell me when's the last time you heard that? Spread the word this is the proper thing to do!
This man is immune to bee stings 😂
Good Job 👍👍🤗🤗
great
They looked very aggressive swarming, glad they weren't, but man they looked mighty thick, that toothpick tree though wow
Scramble me up some eggs!! 🥚🐝🐔
Lol! That was a good save there at the beginning. I thought you were going down.
Takes more than an avocado tree to bring me down. 😉😁👍🐝
jealous of those eggs!
Man insane how they treat you as if you were one of their own, cheers from new Zealand
Was surprised there was any Bush left after you kept cutting it then flinging the branches to one side 😂
Recently found your channel. Loving the vids, man, I admire your work.
You’ve also given me my new favourite portmanteau “squinch”
Lol @ peek a boo..
Nice catch JP!!!
Those thorns kind of remind me of the thorn crown placed on Jesus head
2:38 😂😂
