Removing 50,000 Bees from a Compost Bin by Hand

- Bees had been living in this compost bin for at least a few months, but now they needed a new home. I was happy to meet such a gentle colony of bees and to be able to give them a better place to live.
I always appreciated bees for their important role in our ecosystem, but your love and enthusiasm for them you show in your videos makes me cherish them even more
Thank you so much for your kind words and for appreciating bees! They're extraordinary creatures and it's a privilege to share with everyone my life as a professional beekeeper.
@@TexasBeeworks thanks for another great video!
@@TexasBeeworks What a beautiful soothing voice!!!! 🌺
Buzzzzzzzzz*
I mean yeah man, if bees were extinct then in 5 years we probably wont survived that long either cause some of are fruit and vegetables is made by bees
I've kept bees for almost 50 years. I just do it as a hobby. More difficult now than it used to be, because of mites. I only keep 2 hives, and I'm usually more suited up when I deal with them, but your calm attitude is entrancing. I have to gather honey in two weeks, and will suit up, but will try to be slower in my movements. You are an inspiration. thanks.
I grew up terrified of bees. Watching you save colony after colony, and being so respectful of everything about bees, has completely changed my mind about them. Thank you for saving the bees. After finding you, I’ve watched a bunch of bee vids. You are my favorite. So calm and kind. ❤
It makes me feel very uncomftrable but i still watch it
Most people confused wasp as bees in their childhood
that that that is my story too!👍🏻❤️
No literally saaame
Literally the BEE WHISPERER. Love your voice over and poise while doing a hazardous job. A real eyeopener.
Thank you for showing my family that hives can be rehomed. Our neighbor sold his huge property an had a dead old growth tree that has a huge hive of honey bees thriving in it and the new owners want to kill them. They were going to set it on fire. But we googled an this nice couple spent two days straight finding the queen amidst the river of honey flowing from that thing while carefully digging the queen out. It was so big she found two queens! I never knew that could happen. No bees died (needlessly at least, a few causalities are unavoidable during moveing) an we had so much honey we didn't know what to do with all the combs and it was all thanks to your videos.
"...and it was another great day of saving the bees."
never gets old.
I'd buy some merch.
Yes! Love hearing it every time! 💕
Same
Yassss...
The beeeeeesss
I’d also love to see more about you bringing them back to your place. I’d really love to see your apiary. We have a 10 acre farm, and I’d love to start beekeeping. I’ve had love & respect for honeybees for a long time, but your videos are deepening those feelings. They deserve the best.
I agree. What does she do with them all?
I’ve been wondering the same thing!! I would like to see what she does with them!
Yes! We would love to see it all at your property!
Being severely allergic to bees as a kid and going through several years of inoculations taught me deep appreciation for bees. People would always wonder why i was drawn to something that could kill me. Lets say that respect is a great motivation. Amazing little creatures!
Same! I've always been terrified/ fascinated by bees and I want them to love me 😭 I had no idea you could be inoculated from bee allergies, I will definitely look into that! Whatever the costs, it has to beat paying $800 every time you need an Epi-pen.
@@iCanbEYOURrUKIA Don't buy any more epipens. Look for an autoinjector and get a script for adrenaline. Should be able to get out of it for under $40. Those gready mongrels are just price gouging.
I also have a be allergy and it’s my goal to have a bee farm of my own. People always wonder why I’m so calm around bees but I think they’re beautiful!
same here. I'm allergic to honeybees, but they're so amazing and fascinating (and essential to the environment) that I love them anyway.
I always appreciate Erica for her knowledge and insight on the bees, I also give a gold star for her handling of them, she is so gentle with them, you can see they accept her as one of their own after awhile, I guess after they notice she's trying to help them and is not a threat. We need more people like Erika's good heart and soul!
I LOVE how you rescue the bees. You have such a natural way of handling them and you have such a calming voice. I like watching your episodes of rescuing the bees. Keep up the Good Work.
Love that you say... it was another great day of saving the bees. Thank you for all you do for them!
I like how the "most replayed" graph confirms I'm not the only one quickly pausing or rewinding as soon as you say: "I was looking for the queen and pretty soon, I found her" to see how quickly I could find her before you point her out.
Man, this channel is amazing! It's so fascinating getting a close up look on something most of us would happily avoid but that is deadly essential to our survival. Keep up the good work!
I never realized how many bees were in a hive
I started beeing more kind and peaceful with bees after you, they are so beautiful! One of my Favorite animals ❤ so happy that you are here to save them, thanks!
Your love, care and preservation of the Bees is so very wonderful. Thank you for your wonderful videos. ❤
Your videos are so relaxing. I actually had a dream last night, after watching so many of your videos, that I had bees in my chimney, dripping with honey. Lol! Thank you for bee...ing one with nature. You have a special gift.
Every time I need a softer approach to life her videos seem to arrest my anxiety and depression her voice is so soothing and comforting and of course not many people have a command of their emotions when working with bees so she is absolutely amazing of showing people how to handle a colony of bees 🐝 with little fear and the bees respond well to her presence
This lady is magic✨ I have always loved bees and appreciate the way these videos teach us how to behave around them 👍🐝💕
I am so fascinated with bees now! I always loved them bc I know how important they are, but seeing how they actually work together and how complex they are, is truly amazing! 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚
I love hearing her speak. It calming to me. The way she says "baby bees" puts a smile on my face. I get why the bees are okay with her. I wish I could be as calm around bees as she is!!!😊 keep saving the bees. We need them.
I absolutely LOVE your videos. I used to be one that would get rid of bees when I seen swarms, im sorry. I was uneducated and didn't know. You have taught me a lot.
I was furious back last year when other beekeepers and others started hating on you. It's non of their business.
You are just amazing at your profession, able to explain stuff on a level where it's understandable for laymen like me.
Thanks so much for your work and videos. Also, you could make so much money by doing audio books and meditation exercises.
but why are they hating on her ?
Yeah why were they hating on her?
@@vintageb8probably because she doesn't have to wear a protective beekeeping suit, and they're just jealous
The haters are probably just jealous of her skill and success
I dont know if you will see this, but have you ever been attacked by the bees you were saving? just curios you dont have to answer! 😊
you have such a calming asmr voice and treat the bees amazingly! love what you do ❤
I’d love to see more about the process when you get home
This was a very fun video to watch. You've given me pause as I have that same compost bin design next to our garden and apiary, I'll have to keep an eye on that. It's also interesting to see you using a smoker. So nice to have those comb closeups. Do you have a smoker fuel preference? Excellent point about keeping the brood and honey-loaded-comb separate in transit. I wish you all the best in beekeeping :) thanks for the video.
In a seperate video she mentioned that she tries to use local plants and other natural fuels. Hope this helps
Wow
Erika watching you fearlessly deal with bee removal and realizing how your work saves countless number of bees highly respect your work.
You’re such an amazing human! Thanks for sharing your important work & knowledge with us! 🐝 💗
What a kind, soothing voice. You should do audiobooks for people with anxiety or insomnia
The bin really does seem like a perfect bee box. It's got bee sized doors and everything.
Erika's voice always soothes n calms me into a lovely state of relaxation. No wonder the bees are always calm with her, her energy probably soothes the bees into a meditation chill out state!❤😂👍🙏
I love your videos. Thanks so much for sharing them with us.
I find bees to be the most fascinating creatures ever created in the entire world.
Watching you and the bees and how you handle them is relaxing and awesome at the same time. Do you ever get stung?
The way you care foe each bee as an individual ❤️
I was so excited to see you posted a new video . Thank you for all your hard work saving bees . This was amazing to watch love your passion
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching me and the bees!
all due respect this young lady is such a sweet honey bun, saving the beeeezzzz
I’ve always loved bees and the honey is so good for you as well. My garden has flowers that bees like. 😊
I watch a number of beekeeping videos, but my dream is to do beekeeping as you do. You care about the bees, every one of them, and they feel it.
I could fall asleep just listening to her talk about anything. Her voice is so calming and soothing.
The bees like you because you are the Queen of the Bees!
Thanks for your great work and saving the bees!
This dainty little girly-girl is twice the man I am. :0
The World needs more people like your are.
I always feel bad about the bees left behind. Lol
Anybody that comes back and is lost are older bees that will die in a week or two of old age anyway. It's not the end of the colony and that's what matters.
The smile on her face when she uncovered the hive
You are one of the most beautiful ladies that I have seen that the creator clearly adores. Peace and blessings to you. May your life be full of joy and grace.
If someone had told me about this I probably would've been very sceptical. Really quite amazing to watch.
Sharing the wax that the bees ‘shared’ with you, then ‘shared’ back to the bees. I love it! What really good work you do, Erika. I’m such a fan. I miss the bees that used to live somewhere close to me. They would come and share my tea that I made extra sweet for them. We both sipped the tea, unless they were all around the cup. This was my favorite time of every day, the bees coming to visit each day at the same time. I just opened my door and in they came. In and out, a line of bees following the lead bee, into my house, to my tea glass. They’re so soft to touch, and I always touched them when they were thick and intent on their feeding, at my house or at my mother’s house around the hummingbird feeders on the patio. But one year they didn’t show up, and they haven’t been back since. I get a little if bumble bees and occasionally I’d see a velvet ant or two. But my bee friends have been long gone. It’s been sad. I hope their new hive is safe and thriving. I really hope that someone didn’t do - I don’t want to think about that. The bees, the beeees🐝🐝🐝
Another day in savig the lives of the bees. Love it😊
It's so satisfying to watch her scoop bees for some reason 🐝
I love bees and understand how important they are. I have thought about getting a hive or two to help keep them safe and to grow. I however am allergic to bees and that has kept me from doing it. However when I buy a place and if it has a large enough property I will definitely get a couple of hives
Please keep an epi pen nearby at all times, though. Ok? My Brother is allergic to bees and it's no joke.😊
Having recently been hosting a spider and making a DIY enclosure for it, I wonder why compost bins don't put mesh over the ventilation holes.
You may not be A Queen Bee, but you are definetly THE Queen of The Bees ❤
Also, I sorta feel like, even though there are activists and all that, YOU and your fellow keepers, are TRULY saving our planet. ❤❤❤
Out of curiosity, if you wanted to give bees in your area a home (provided you're not allergic) would a compost bin like this be a suitable thing to buy and set out specifically for them to use??
Best not. Bees should live in a hive and cared for by a beekeeper! You should become one if you like bees.
I wondered the same thing! If they choose it because it’s a good design… why not? 😆
@@mrbejam Maybe... but you can't control what kind of insects you get. What if HORNETS decide to make this their home instead of bees?
@@Exodianecross1978 🤷♂️ I’ll continue with the hornet hypothetical - they’d likely make their nest somewhere else nearby anyway if they chose a nest in that location right? That’s a geographical issue with hornets, not the compost bin. 😆 if food is nearby they’ll just make a nest in something else nearby if no compost bin. Dunno - I’m not an Arthropod expert.
@@mrbejam I can only tell you what I know through books and what my late uncle told me, a beekeeper! Bees should always live in a hive that is located in a box so that a beekeeper can take care of them. Living on their own is possible, but this makes it difficult. Bees can become sick as any other living being. Trichodes apiarius is a beetle that troubles bees more often than you can imagine, bee-killer wasps are also a curse, something a beekeeper can fight if he takes care of the hive! So in my eyes bees shouldn't live on their own, always under the protection of a beekeeper. It's still difficult enough, a swarm of wasps can be the end for a hive as well, that was a reason why my uncle stopped being a beekeeper, he was already old and after he realized that his hives were raided by wasps, who killed ALL queenbees and queenbee-larvae, he ended his work.
everything about what you do is just wonderful. I am terrified of insects (it's not bee-specific) so not only do i respect you for being ABLE to do this but i respect you for SAVING THE BEEEZZZZ! because even though i am terrified of them, my logic brain does understand that bees are our friends
Hi Nico I love the Bee stories. It's a wonderful to know the Bee work of honey. Thank you for reaching me the Bee life
I spotted the queen almost straight away. You taught me how to do that :)
I honestly could watch her saving bees all day!
Your "Zen ,Tonglen , Satygrahi" Nauture is so appreciated by both the Bees and I .What a Beautiful Reality to see, Thanks so much !!🥰🥰🥰
I really like this girl, SHES very smart on BEE care, GREAT JOB thank you,
imagine being a bee and some giant wingless thing takes the roof of your house then starts eating some of it
These are alway”s great 👍 video”s to watch! It”s lovely 🥰 to see the bees, and the Queen 🤴 get a new home!Yea!And,I saw for the first time in my life,a Queen 🤴 doing the waggle dance 💃 telling the worker bees 🐝 where the flower”s are! That was amazing 🤩 to see!Simply amazing!😮
The way you say bees is somehow the most calming thing in the world to me
Fairplay we need people like her to save and look after the bee's world wide plus her voice can put me to sleep, she should do asmr
Amazed at your calmness and patience. You have a lovely voice to listen to as well 🥰
You must be immune to bee stings.Your new moniker-The bee whisperer.
Im amazed at how calm you make the bees with a little smoke.
Hi, very nice to see someone save bees.
Amazing that you scoop them up barehanded. Unreal ❤
Baby bees are cute! I never imagined
Bees are absolutely the most amazing creatures on the planet. The level of calmness with which you do this is almost divine. I am dubbing you the “Bob Ross of Bee Keepers”.
Love you so much! Your work is SO amazing!
Thank you so much! The bees and I appreciate your support!!!
@@TexasBeeworks of course! Gotta save those amazing wondrous creatures!
I am So Fascinated by this whole process.
When I was in Jr. High
I did a presentation in science class. All about Bees and Their Colony.
I truly admire your work.
🐝🌄🐝🌄🐝🌄🐝🌄🐝
Thank you for saving the BEES...
Smoke always calms me down and it gives me the patience to count 50,000 bees.
All kidding aside you have something special to be able to do what you do. Great work❤
Your voice…calming very smoothly
You are a bee whisperer. We need more like you to save our planet one bee at a time.
I loved this! How do you know when the bees aren’t going to sting you? What makes them know that you aren’t going to harm them?
most actual enemies have no qualms about squishing bees. bees know when their friends are dying. since she squises as few bees as possible the intruder alarm never goes off and there's no army deployment.
Never would have imagined Shakira is so passionate about bees
I'm so glad she's saving the bees, and know that there's no way she'd ever be able to get 100% of them in the transport hive.... but I feel bad for the lonely straggler bees that get left behind.
Oh yeah keep up the great work, you are an inspiration to millions. Women need more rockstars to inspire them.
Who would have thought that moving bees colonies videos can be so calming and relaxing :D Thats also probably because your voice is so soothing ;)
Amazing job!
I think the best is to keep the new hive box close to the original hive, until night... and then to take them to thier new home
Your narrative is amazing and super calming.
I still think you're a queen bee in disguise 🤣🍯
I love watching your videos.
The bees were trying to attend you, you are the true Queen Bee
Nice lady .. very compassionate
Seeing this makes me want to buy compost bins for the bees.
Wow..
you are amazing, truely ...
i would love to watch this process in person..
i bet thats amazing to watch you do that in person..
thx so much for what you do ...
What a stunning Queen.
Gosh, how many hundreds didn't follow you! Love your videos!
You are VERY PROFESSIONELL!!!!!! Good Job.....
you know your bees
really cool to c a master in their field
This woman is brave. I would not risk removing that without a suit.
"So I took a bite, and it was delicious."
😂😂😂😋
Your amazing, keep up the good work saving the 🐝.
The fact that she just took bite LIKE WHAT!!!!?????
You have a very soothing voice!
I used to be scared of bees. I think your calming voice helped me with that fear. But wasps are just... 💀
you are a very special soul
Love the vid . Watching humbles me and it's beautiful watching how you sort it out
