I will say this movie touched me deeply. And I think in large part because of Emilio and Martins love for each other and the essence of the movie touching them. I thank them both and all the actors and people who made this movie, it is a true gem.
The Way its been created with love, passion and knowledge. I am honored, as spanish person, to have enjoyed this fantastic movie. Thanks to Emilio and Ramon. Thats a great movie and very touching one.
I ❤️ this film with all my soul. I watched it 20 times. I did el camino in 2018 becauseofthis film, and I can't wait until I am coming back 👣👣👣👣 buen camino
I walked the Camino last year 2022 having delayed for two years because of Covid. It was a fantastic experience. I walked alone mostly, but talked to others and met some great people all with their own stories why they were walking. I didn't make the connection to the Wizard of Oz until it was expained.
This movie really inspired me on my pilgrimage experience. After my two sons passed away I walked from Children's Hospital in Cincinnati to Maria Stein OH, 100 miles...5 days. I have the story on my channel.
I would tell emilio to appreciate the little steps and blunders. Most actors I think are in that category. A lifetime of bit parts on tv. Tons of voice acting. He talks of his father "gigging" and I'm thinking that if Martin had been above gigging they wouldn't have survived. Most younger generation could probably stand a dose of willing to gig more humility he obviously had.
I never thought about the wizard of oz with the four characters. If that is true, then I can't believe that I missed it. But i'm not so sure about it. I would agree that the female character is looking for a heart or looking for a softer siyes. She had been hurt and put up a wall. And I guess I could agree on the Dutchman who's looking for courage to be himself and not worry about losing weight and a female partner who is unhappy with his physical shape. I think he had great love for everyone and he was looking for love back at himself. From everyone else and also from himself. But i'm not sure that the irishman is looking for a brain. He certainly was looking to unblock the writer's block. But is that a brain or is that also heart. And then I suppose you could say that the father charac turk was looking for home. But then again I would say that was also looking for a heart. Looking to love his child instead of being so judgmental. See things from the perspective of the son. For me I thought they all were looking for love and heart. And that was what brought them together and kept them together. It was looking for love and a heart from four different perspectives.
4:00-4:13 - that's surely not correct. 'Saint Jacques...La Mecque' also has a scene inside the cathedral and that movie is some five years older than The Way.
I walked the Camino 3 years ago. I never went home, I stayed here. Now I live in Leon with my spanish girlfriend and we have a spanish/danish dauther who is 1 year old. I gotta say that this movie disappointed me a little. It is a far way from capturing the true spirit of the Camino, and it should not have been filmed in the fall/winter. It should have been filmed in the summer when the Camino is crowded with pilgrims. A great thing about the Camino is that you meet many interesting people with fascinating stories and motivations for walking the Camino. This movie only has four pilgrims in it! But the best part about the Camino is the internal and spiritual journey you undergo as you walk the 800 km. This is difficult to capture in a Hollywood-production. To me, it is much more interesting to hear interviews with Martin Sheen when he talks about the movie and the Camino. He is such a nice and cultivated person. It would have been a much better movie had it been a documentary about him walking the Camino. It could have been even better if Martin had walked with his two sons Charlie and Emilio. That could have been a blast to watch!
I have to wonder if we watched the same movie. I loved it. It’s a movie, so it’s focused on 4 people, but there are many scenes where there are interactions with other pilgrims. I thought the spiritual beauty they wanted to confer really came through. My two cents.
The movie disappointed you because you were not allowed to direct it. Emilio did not ask for your input. Emilio did a great job in putting everything together in a short time, and like he said, providence played a role.
The movie needed to be centered around the 4 pilgrims to capture the story. There is no need to have a bunch of pilgrims in the movie. We all know that el camino gets packed with pilgrims during different times of the year. So it's not about the number of pilgrims , it's about the transformation of the walking process. Best movie ever!!! Awesome job Emilio

excellent story telling....It makes perfect sense, I never thought of it that way....looking at it from the perspective of the Wizard of OZ!!!!....
OMG they are the Wizard of Oz characters! And just like in WoO, The Cowardly Lion (Joost) is my favorite. :)
Yes! I felt the same! Incredible work by Emilio!

The first time I ever saw Martin Sheen as on TV as a kid in The California Kid where he played a hot rodder.
Still great looking.

Wasn't Emilio a "Boy Under Lamppost" in 'Badlands' with his father?
Where I can access the movie? I cant find it in any streaming platform. Thanks.
The way thats unique

There’s an extensive detailed list of filming locations for the movie you mention, but the cathedral isn’t listed.
Nice movie trying to talk the old lady into watching it with me!
Charlie Sheen needs to find a way
To find "the" way.
Just found this movie Jan. 2021...
It was awesome.
I'm still afraid he'll duct tape my buns together.
