Saw them in '96 at Fletcher's in B'more. I wish I wasn't drunk at the show. I did see them twice more at Johnny Brenda's sober and they blew my mind. My husband who doesn't really like my taste in music was in complete awe. They pour their hearts in every song I've ever heard. They toured with The Put-Outs for a short time. Another underrated band. They will forever be one of my top five fav bands of all time

34:22 "We're not a band, but we play one on TV and this one's called 'Sucked Out.'" Brilliant deadpan.

Thank you goes out to the uploader. As a fan that got to see a few of the Regretfully Yours and Head Trip supporting shows, this really chokes me up. One of the most tragically underrated bands of my generation. A product of their time that got completely shat on and overlooked by circumstance. But what do I know right, I'm one stranger with and opinion on the internet.

Funny you posted this on here less than an hour ago and I am lying in bed in Montreal watching this video reminiscing about seeing them about this time and how vivid my memories of that show were. I saw them April 1996 opening for Echobelly I think? I went to see Superdrag and left before the headliner. I was 17 years old and it was my first time ever being in New York City. They had played a few weeks earlier in Montreal but I got carded at the door and turned away, but I guess the Echobelly show was all ages and I got in.
Anyway, my most vivid memories of the show were Slot Machine/Phaser back to back and then getting floored by Nothing Good Is Real. I only wish they had played "Take Your Spectre Away"

That's awesome. Nice hearing from a fellow Superdrag fan. Thanks for sharing your story! In hindsight, these kind of memories are priceless. I'm around 3 yrs your junior and didn't see them until '97 (I think). They opened for Green Day and I had obviously already heard and been familiar with Sucked Out...(remember when MTV played music videos) but was excited to hear some more of their sound. Slot Machine/Phaser is one hell of an opening track live. I was particularly wowed by Cynicality, which Davis had dedicated to Tre from Green Day, always thought that was cool. After Head Trip's release I rushed back to see them again. While a pretty small show, at least they were headlining and had a longer set. It was one of my favorite shows I've ever been to to this day. Their energy and stage presence was infectious in this period, they had just released and album that they put their heart into and they had their lives and career ahead of them. The younger me of this time would find it impossible that they would end up becoming this forgotten, underappreciated, and tossed in the one-hit wonder bin of the '90s band that it seems time has dealt them. Timing and exposure unfortunately tends to decide greatness and memorability.

Saw them live 7 times total and no matter the venue or the era, there was never a time when John didn't go out there and put 110% into the performance. And yes, horribly underrated...in the annals of rock history, Superdrag will always be the band that had more talent than many of the bands who became legends. But the music speaks for itself and always will.
