Well done Bud!! That should help alotta people!! That really makes ya miss the Ol' Days eh!! Back then changing a starter would take 2 minutes if you took your time!!☻

Dude, thanks so much for this video. I bought a $50 dollar one and it was not easy and nor did it work, wrong size. Went down to OReilly's and got a exact replacement for $169 remanufactured. Will do in an hour, this video is good for that.
Great video and explanation of how to take and install the starter george. You could get some good Samsung or Sanyo cells and replace the ones the drill came with.
I'm going to look into it. I am guessing that only one of the cells has died, since it was working and then just quit. It has happened twice. I actually bought a second ratchet just to get more batteries.
Well, it is simply a one step at a time scenario, but if you don't feel confident in doing it, best to let someone else tackle it, but you know, if an old guy like me can do it, most likely a younger person can accomplish it too. Thanks for stopping by.
Great share George ! Your going to need that starter soon .. They sure put rigs together the hard way these days ! Starters should be an easy to get to thing .. ENJOYED
Thanks Shawn. I tested it today while setting the engine to TDC and it works fine, so I am looking forward to the first startup. I finally have the carburetor all back together, and am plumbing the pcv valve and the port for the brake booster. Who would have thought that these would be such time consuming issues. Not worth videoing, so I'll just show the finished product in the next update.
Vernon of Missouri Old Timer fame told me of a time he did just that. I had to confess that when I was much younger, I did that too, but not anymore. Thanks for following along Matt.
Nice job George, I keep a big sheet of card board for the same reason crawling around under a car doing repairs. I'm looking for a good battery powered ratchet too. Thanks for the the info.
While the ones I have work well, for the sake of battery replacements (when needed) I would go with a known brand. Even the HF ratchets are getting pretty pricey. They only offer it in the Hercules brand and it is $90 without any battery or charger. I wish they would make the Bauer brand, since I am already invested with a few of those and would be set for the batteries and chargers. $25 for the battery and $30 for the charger brings the price up to $145 plus tx. I can buy at least 3 more of the cheap ratchets for that price and that would include 2 batteries with each ratchet. Have fun in your search and thanks for following along.
You did a great job with that starter! Modern cars have given me many unique ways of removing a starter lol some are under intakes those are fun! Should be pretty easy to rebuild your battery back hardest part is soldering them together as usually the originals are resistance soldered always wanted one of those setups.
Much more involved than I thought, but I will do a brief overview once it is all done and running properly for those wanting to consider the concept. I am doing some of this for my own benefit along the way. Thanks so much.
Taking the wheel off will make it easier for you to move around under there for sure. I don't recall now if I had to turn the wheel one way or the other, but if it will give you more clearance, do it! Thanks for stopping by.
Wanted to ask u george you need to get yourself a seat with wheels for working on the gmc truck also does the gmc truck since it’s a v6 does it move when u get on it or is it slow for a v6
It's not that comfortable down there and it was still a little chilly too. Thanks for stopping by. Hopefully this video will help someone else doing this starter swap.
How so? Because of the ultimate end of the truck? Thanks for stopping by. BTW, neither you nor I knew the final outcome at this point, so it wasn't a waste and if this video helped someone else, well that is a positive thing, right?
Thanks for the tips on the nose up!
You are entirely welcome and thank you for stopping to take a look with me.
Good job George !! Those battery ratchets make things easier .
They sure are helpful. Thanks Norman

Good idea with the mattress topper. I use HF moving blankets folded for more cushion. And we're too old to be laying on that cold ground.
