    I bought a 2003 2.2l 5 speed s10 when I was 14 with 32,000 miles. 14 years later that’s still my daily driver. She’s my slow as shit baby but I’ll never get rid of her. So reliable and anything that’s wrong with her is an easy fix. Other than hitting a cow on the highway she’s never been down longer than a day. I love her

    Mine is named "Louise". She is a 2002 LS, 2.2 liter 5 speed manual with 176,000 miles on the odometer. By far the most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. She starts right up on the first try even in -30 degree weather. She's a farm truck so she gets worked hard but doesn't complain one bit. I will be replacing the tail gate since it's badly rusted out and is barely hanging on! Love my S10!

Great trucks I’ve had minor issues with mine! I did have to change out the fuel pump eventually and one time I did have to change out two solenoids in my transmission! It was stuck in 3rd gear and I could go into reverse but once me and my buddy changed out the solenoids she was good to go!

    Door pins: Buy the replacement pin kit. Go find a machinist and have the bushings made out of steel. All you need is the very top bushing done. Brass bushing turn to junk in a month because the hole isnt round.. Steel will last hopefully a couple years. Im doing mine right at this moment. Parts are at the machine shop. Give the machinist the pin also. Keep in mind the new bushing will be a bit of a booger but usually the top hole is egg shaped enough that it will go in. It all depends how bad the hole is egg shaped. Mine is a 2000 s 10.

    Usually the center plug that has the steering shaft in the way is only a problem if the motor mounts are collapsed. Put a jack under the motor and raise it up an inch. Totally changes the situation. Extremes did come extended cab. I have a black one, and blazers came as an extreme as well. My bravada is more comfortable than an s10, just a few of the early 90s trucks. Even a few 92 or 93 trucks had what was called cpi. Early "vortec" aluminum intakes existed. Look up motor week 1/4 mile testing for a sonoma gt, compaired to the iconic 454ss truck. They were within 2/10ths of a second...pretty rad

Chevy Luv was actually the 1st small Chevy truck and it was basically a Isuzu truck with a Chevy logo. Like Mazda and Ford , Ford owned 65% of stock in Mazda of America. 2nd Generation S10s started in 1994-2004. All S10 models are hot for collectors and race track drivers due to their weight. You should do more videos on S10 restoration and LS swaps cause they are Hot right now.

    Personally I love s10s. I’ve got a 2.2 5 speed single cab 2wd that I bought at 15. Absolutely love this truck and still daily drive it even tho I have a 86’ f-150 and grand Cherokee. I don’t give a damn for horsepower that much. I pull my jon boat and I do a lot of side jobs and it’ll haul supply’s when I need it to. My 2.2 s10 has never let me down. Hell I even wrecked it and they are stupid simple little pickups and easy to find parts for. Got a sound system in it some a/ts, a new upgraded clutch, a/c will run u out of it. Wish they still made them because I’d buy a new one. I’m even getting an s10 for my gf to daily drive. And I plan on buying another 4x4 s10 when my now s10 gives out. If you’re in the market for one and watching this video buy it. Can’t go wrong for the what 2 or 3k they go for nowadays if you find a papaw gettin rid of his. They have some common issues but I’ll tell you rn it’ll fail you less than a big truck that’ll chug gas all day

    I have a 2002 S10 LS. It sat for 10 years was my cousins. Had 21000 miles but fuel system was shot. Flat tires and sitting my cousins back yard. Body and interior like new! I had it towed out and the GM dealer rebuilt the entire fuel system. So I have about 7k invested with what I paid for the truck and the repairs. So far so good. I gotta look into that turbo kit someone posted on below.

    I really wish it came with a LS motor but maybe that'll be a future if the vortex 2200 ever dies.

    They sell a turbo kit for the 2.2 that gives you 80 to a hundred extra horsepower honest stock 2.2 trick that with a posi rear end and a 5-speed and you have a contender anywhere you go with a short bed single cab go for $1,200 you basically have an awesome fun little monster

    I have a 2002 Chevy S10 4.3 Extended cab. pretty reliable easy to fix. gotta fix the Chevy lean tho. Left side cleans more than the right. Usually people say alignment but it’s stock height. Usually people lift the left side up so it matches the right also. idk what it takes but you can also drop the right which makes it leveled with the left.

    There are only 2 generations of s10's. 1st gen was 82'-93'. 2nd gen was 94'-03'. They also did make ext cab xtreme trucks as well.

    I disagree on the full size trucks being more sought after. With gas at nearly 4$s a gallon, I'm looking to the Rangers in the years between 1989 and 1992, and the s-10s 1993 and older as those were alittle smaller and lighter than the mid to late 90s ones. Also I bought a s10 with that transmission problem you mention, slipping in and out of 3ed and 4th, It's a 4wd, I want to do a manual and 2wd conversion. I would prefer a NV4500 out of a chevy c2500. That v6 in there has power for days but the auto transmission I feel is holding it back. keeping it 4wd would be nice but again, gas is 4$s a gallon, so 2wd is gonnal allow me to get the use out of it.

    This is a come late comment but here in North Carolina there’s quite a few thousand of those some of them in mint condition. And by the way most if not all of them are owned by older people like me (I’m 66). They are reliable and cheap to fix, which I have done it once in seven years ($211 for the coil, parts and labor). So I guess up here many of us disagree with you.

    There's a nice '95 S10 for sale by me with the 2.2 liter 4 cylinder, extended cab and a 5 speed. Anyone have an opinion on that combo? I currently have a 92 Ford F150 which I love, except for its crappy gas mileage.

    • @chrismatteson2337
      @chrismatteson2337 8 днів тому +1

      Gets great gas mileage. If it doesn't have a blown head gasket, buy it! Only thing vs F150, less bed and can't tow much. Can only hold 1yard mulch ect. Some places 2 yard minimum as front hoe holds 2. Start slow from stand still in rainy weather. To save clutch, put in neutral slowing down at stop with brake. Then put in first gear to go. Only use clutch to go. 3,000 miles original clutch.

    There is only two generations of the Chevy S10 the 82 to 93 for the Square body and the 94 to 04 for the round body the Xtreme came in the extended cab and the third door was introduced in 1996 or 1997 but you could just get the regular 2 door extended cab with 2 jump seats
