Used your walkthrough to replace the stepper motor on my 2012 Mitsubishi Outlander. I appreciate the details you mentioned. I freaked out a bit when you said not to move the actuator, that it needed to stay where it was for replacement. My actuator moved and I could not get it to stay in place, but saw in another video that there is a little hole going through the unit and you can use a small Allen wrench to hold it in place…that little detail saved my bacon. Thanks again for the walkthrough, gave me the confidence to give it a go and save $4,500!!

I knew when the audio cut whatever he was saying was some cold Bullsh*t There is no way to tell if the motor is 100% good. you can apply battery power to the step motor through power probe or jumping wires but even then you still wouldn’t know 100%

How many dirty mechanics would have told you that needed a new transmission and charged you for it and only replaced this piece. Appreciate your honest mechanics .
This is only best case scenario, can have multiple valve body codes + damage to cvt. Not always a fix. If you have to do labor+parts a lot of shops actually end up saving their customer money by replacing with something they can guarantee is a fix for them.
How mad would a customer be if you told them they have to pay for this valve body job and still need a new trans because they damaged it at some point before bringing it to your shop? Of course there are in depth diagnostics and tests and you can gather with a number of variables the cvt SHOULD still be good but I’ve done these with whole new valve body replacements and seem perfect for 30-40min of driving……then still had to replace CVT.

Four!! And they wnated to charge me $10k for the part and $5k for the work. I tried selling my 2009 lancer to mechanics and they only offered me $300-800 saying it’s a very hard fix and my car isn’t not worth over $1000!
Dirty?? This mofo didn't even have the proper sockets to remove the bolts. I cringed watching him pull that 14mm with the open end side of the wrench. Honestly, these trannys are a POS... and lack of filter/fluid changes is there biggest down fall. He got lucky with just the "stepper motor"... not all are saved with this try.

Thanks. Wanted your opinion on this. Replaced a Nissan CVT with a used 50k mile one. Ran great for 7 months. Just had a valve cover and PCV valve replaced. Got the car back and P1778 is throwing intermittently. Had to floor the throttle from a dead stop on one occassion. Could something electrical have been disturbed during the valve cover removal process?
Very doubtful. How often do you change the CVT fluid, check the filters, clean the magnets?

P1778 and p0868 Nissan Versa 09 1.8 SL, just bought this car and give me 2 codes, trouble accelerating and slipping. Checked the fluid and looks clean and i'm affraid that this is done before because i see fresh silicone underneath this pan but i didnt touch that yet. Any advice? For replace transmission is gonna cost me $4500-5000 and its a lot! 😢😢
Hi Jon, dealing with similar issues on 2010 Cube (same CVT). Have done lots of research and changed trans pan, fluid, filters, tested solenoids, cleaned valvebody, etc. No resolution yet but I'm checking the readings on the temp/pres sensors now. Codes are: P1778 (step motor), P0746 (sol.A), P0868 (low pressure).
This car has 160k km and looked like the fluid was original (never changed, black). :/
@@mobileoncue1370 Dropped on the shop yesterday, hope tomorrow i'll get a response from mechanic! The problem is these cvt no one repair or rebulit, replace only and this is so expensive and im down already $6k and is high possibilty to junk the car , it not worth to spend 5k more on the tranny on this car. The lowest estimate i've got was $4200. Unfortunately what i asked, these are death codes and need a trans replaced and i don't have any hopes honeslty.

I have a 2015 Sentra and I'm not sure these are the codes because my mechanic just said I probably need a new transmission but the issue with my car is that it jerks from 2nd->3rd gear and also jerks a bit when putting it into reverse. So are these the signs for the codes you mentioned in this video???

Hey so my Nissan Murano was working excellent but then the battery died when I left the switch on. I jumps start it and now the car is running but the the RPMs stay high and to reach 60mph it’s up to like 5,000 RPMs there are 3 codes P01778, P0840 and P0845. Any experience on this ?

Thanks for the amazing video bro ,Hey man I’d love if you can get back with me ASAP I actually have a few questions i had the p1778 code which cased my car to not accelerate over like 20mph and it’ll like bump a little like I ran over something so I followed all the instructions I changed the step motor even with putting in the allen ranch in pre drilled hole but afterwards when I got done it wouldn’t shift gears it wouldn’t move at all and I removed the valve body up and respected the process and it still wouldn’t shift , do you think the step motor they sent me may just be bad? Or do I need to make sure every bolt is on before removing the Allen ranch ? And how do you find out which bolt goes where I didn’t keep up and number them but I’m shake to get all screwed in idk if the right one is going in but it’s fitting

@@rgcd5043 make sure u have enough fluid in the transmission and I’d say let it sit there for abt 3 days or so before u try to move it ig so the computer can catch up with the valve body u unplugged and put back in Bc after a couple days my car finally shift gears again

I got the same problem with my Nissan murano, i replaced with new transmission, tried with multiple
new stepper motor, oil pressure sensor , still getting the 1778 error code and at higher speeds feel it is still bumpy. replaced the entire transmission oil as well, new filter etc. any suggestions?

It don’t have no code and check engine light it’s your transmission clutch going bad

Please help, my Nissan altima 2008 2.5s stocked up in first gear, won't go beyond that, after diagnosed with computer, P1777 code was detected, today I took it to my mechanic, he service the gear, and test drive, it worked, after few seconds, when the car warmed up, it got stocked in first gear again. Now I noticed That ATF fluid was used to top up the gear oil instead of CVT fluid.. Please I need your help, what should I do?

Use a multimeter to test the step motor if is good or plug it with electric source to test the step motor should move back and forth if it works just fine

Hola, tengo una Pathfinder 2014 con el código P1778, le acaba de cambiar el aceite NS3 y el filtro de elemento, pero a bajas RPM se siente como pequeños "jalones", tiene 72 Kilometros, cuando saque el aceite solo tenía como 2 cuartos, y antes del cambio los "jalones" eran mas fuertes.
Mira yo creo que los solenóides no te trabaja biem porque quedo com trabajando com poco aceite

Can I get someone’s opinion? So my Nissan Sentra has the exact same issue, I went ahead and bought the step motor, even bought a new transmission oil filter and gasket, and 4 quarts of CVT fluid. I would have done the work myself, but honestly, my fat ass didn’t wanna have to squeeze under there nor did I want to deal with the mess of draining the pan. Anyway, so the shop I took it too, initially said they can do it, and it should take about an hour or so, for about $70 bucks. Ok great, no problem. 4 hours later, they finally call me to tell me that it was a bit more “involved” than anticipated. And now they want $350 CASH for labor ONLY. Seems like a pretty straight forward job that could have been done with hand tools, but this is a freakin shop with a hydraulic lift and impact drills and such. My gut is telling me that this dude is tryna pocket the money since they wouldn’t even be losing any inventory. I should probably also mention that I only went to this place because they were highly recommended by locals on the NextDoor app, but they all mention the owner being the go-to guy. Unfortunately he’s on vacation and won’t be back for another week. This other guy is tryna hustle me, ain’t he?

Que tal, antes que nada gracias por tu gran video, tengo Juke 2012 y tengo el code p1778, muy seguido avanza muy lento solo se revoluciona pero acelera muy lento, en ocasiones todo perfecto, cambiando este selenoide debería trabajar, algo mas ya esta dañado?, antes de esto en la marcha se subian las revouciones solo y bajaban como si la banda se soltara. Primo yo no hablo muy biem Spanish pero voz ya miro se tu azeite e lo filtro está em Buenas condiciones e tenes muchos carros que sale este mismo código mas lá transmission ya está mala de adentro porque adentro trae una faja e quando no lo da el mantenimiento em lá transmission está faja se astira e por esso as vez el carro ya no trae fuersa para aranca

Hi dear.
I have 2010 Altima 2.5L and it needs 5 Liters of CVT fluid. But next generation 2013 needs 4 liters only FYI.
I replaced it many times during 6 years. In the latest one I used the new version NS3 instead of NS2 and no problem with that.
Also keep in mind to clean the metal filter (cleaning is enough) and replace the cooler filter. Only with cooler filter replacing you will feel a big difference and get smooth performance.
Depends what type of service you gonna do on Transmission if you do drain or if you wanna do flushing it’s a different amount of oil

No Brasil Vc pode usa olio diesel mas depois vc deixa secar bem e aconselho vc colocar um pouco de olio novo da caixa de marcha pra limpar o resto do resido do olio diesel antes de coloca o filtro na caixa de marcha ok
Se vc estiver no Estados Unidos vc pode usar Break cleaning e deixa secar bem antes de colocar de volta na caixa de marcha ok
