Hi Alan, I have several stories relating to " Crossroads," mostly small incidents that occurred when I was working in Birmingham city centre in the 1980s. I was very nearly knocked down by Jane Rossington, who played. Jiill, Meg's daughter, whilst crossing the road near the ATV studios. On another occasion, I was bought a pint by Angus Lennie, who played chef "Shughie McFee," when I worked for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). As to Noelle, I was working at the time at the Odeon in New Street, Birmingham, in the days when it's main business was as a 2,552 seat concert venue where I met many big stars who performed there. To get back to Noelle, next door to the Odeon at the time was the door leading to a hairdressing salon owned by the famous hairdresser "Mister Teesie Weesie" Raymond (there's another one for you ro visit) I was in the foyer of the theatre one day when a huge Rolls Royce pulled up outside ( these were the days before it was pedestrianised) a driver dressed in full traditional chauffeur's uniform got out about half a dozen people got out , one of whom, wearing an enormous fur coat, was Noelle. The entire entourage entered the salon, and that was probably her last hairdressing appointment because a few days later, she died. As to grave next to hers, Joan Gordon, known as "Jockey" was her mother who played the first ever guest to check in at the motel in the first episode of "Crossroads", I hope that you found this interesting, my best memory is of being bought a pint of bitter by one of the stars of "The Great Escape". Cheers,. Nick McCormack.

Hello Nick, I've got to give you the Gold award for the longest but most interesting comment. I wish they'd known some of those stories I could have Incorporated them into my film. Angus sounded a great guy. I'll love that and what a fantastic memory for you. The story with Noel visiting Raymond was sad But still quite something to witness. I looked him up. I couldn't find the Grave but thank you. Just imagine if you had it been run down you'd have got in the newspapers 😉 not everybody gets hit by one of the styles of crossroads. Seriously a fantastic comment. Thank you ever so much. I hope people enjoy reading it. Maybe you wouldn't mind if I popped it on the community page with your name. People might find that interesting. I miss it if it's just in the comments run etc. if you don't want to that way but have a great weekend my friend and thank you for all that. Best regards, alan

In 1970 she moved into the house next door to my parents on Handsworth Wood Road she then built a maisonette Next Door where her and her mother jockey lived , Jockey lived upstairs and she lived downstairs . She parked her brown then silver Rolls-Royce at the back of our house . Despite what is said about Noll being a difficult woman I can’t confirm that because I never worked with her but as a neighbour she was an absolute pleasure. She smoked like a chimney she drank like a fish but she was always a lady. She was always a star but never up her own backside ever . Larry Grayson used to come to her flat along with many other stars and as a child in the 70s we were starstruck having a famous neighbour . She died two years before my mother in 1985 and she left her flat and some other properties she owned on Handsworth Wood Road to her friends and male housekeeper. And she now rests next to her mother Joan Gordon AKA Jockey because she was the size of a joackey x

Hello Alan, hope you are well and enjoying life. Another great VLOG with interesting facts i knew nothing about. My Dad died in November 1964 and mum and I went to live with my Auntie and Uncle and maternal grandparents. Grandad loved Crossroads and it was a ritual that he waited for me to come back from school and we would watch it together. Happy memories and so I was raised watching it as a seven year old until my late teens when it was no longer cool to admit you were a fan 🤭. Don’t forget to look at Margaret Rutherford. I should have said it on camera. Crystal that they kept the grass long for the insects. It was done on purpose not through neglect. There were signs of telling you this and I've done The grave of Larry. If you've not seen it, he was very close to her.

Hi Alan you mentioned John Logie Baird who invented the tv,well he was from Helensburgh in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. The original prototype of the tv takes up the whole top room in the Helensburgh library and it’s amazing to see it. L

Wow that sounds absolutely amazing! It sounds so big. I can't believe the size. How would you get it in your living room? You'd need a big house thank Sandra

@@MotorHomeBeepBeep yes it is. You can see it through large windows but my school was John Logie Baird Primary School so went on a School trip and we were allowed in the room but under fear of god not to touch it! Obviously from the original prototype smaller versions were made but were still huge. I thought it was in the ‘20’s and I have just checked and it was first shown on 26th January 1926 almost 100 years ago and just look how far we have come now! If you or any of your viewers get a chance to visit Helensburgh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿you have to go and check it out.

Never watched a single episode of Cross Roads. My old man had the local tv repair man to doctor the TV (which was a black and white set with the old clunky channel selector) so that we couldn't watch ITV AT ALL! because he didn't want us watching the adverts. I missed out on loads of ITV Kids shows in the 70's. But I am told Cross Roads was as bad as Neighbours lol, so I guess I didn't miss much. For me it was BBC 1 and Blue peter never Magpie. That would be a good visit to see, John Noakes grave. The legend who cleaned Pidgeon Shit off the top of Nelsons Column live on a kids TV show without a safety harness. (I think that episode was discussed in Parliament) Also he did the highest parachute jump for a civilian at the time, and had the Idea of getting children to send all their parents OLD cutlery (does anyone have OLD cutlery?) in to Blue Peter for charity. Post boxes all over the country were full of knives forks and spoons. He never could say Foons and Sporks properly. Get down Shep! Brilliant!

Hi Ade well that was bizarre. Not allowing you to watch the commercial channel. I couldn't imagine it the other way around where you've got to pay for the license fee the BBC but you did miss a lot of good programs I'm afraid. I've done John Nokes where is ashes was scattered by a rocket at the back of his own school. If you're not seen it, he was a great guy, wasn't he? I love John. Vaguely remember the thing about cutlery. Wow, you've got a good memory. Thank you, alan

@@MotorHomeBeepBeep Thanks Alan didn't know you had visited John Nokes. I'll have a look for it.
Yes, there was bedlam over the knife and fork thing lol , Kids were sending in family heirlooms (the family silver kept in boxes in the wardrobe) It was an absolute disaster. lol. John had to personally go to the place where they were sorting the cutlery and try to re-unite the owners with their property. Keep up the good show.
Keith Floyd "the first" of the celebrity chefs to take cooking outside of the kitchen and into alfresco. He was the godfather of how not to poncify food chuck it in the pan and have a good slurp of wine. There are many Chefs who have been inspired by his wit to the backdrop of the Stranglers music, and his catch phrase "Pan Down look at the food not me"
It would be great if you could find him.

Crossroads was the butt of jokes years ago, due to poor acting and scenery. Acorn Antiques was based on Crossroads, so I understand.
