idk if i said this already but fam has THEE BEST BASELINE to this song EVVVEERR!! lol i heard cookman version, jsu and pretty much anyone else who plays this song. they can't compare to FAM's
2:33 trumpet messed up..but its kool cuz yall still cranking ayyy stephen(trombone player) i see you keep you the good work FAMU...BEST BAND IN THE LAND!!!!!!!!!!!
A lot of people like to say that FAMU doesn't come with power... Thats straight BULL... Famu doesnt OVERBLOW so its gon SOUND like noones trying to blow but in reality we are MUCH louder than other bands...
@Kinzer007 That question should really be directed to someone from FAMU but it is a term that a couple of bands use but originated at FAMU from legendary band director Dr. William Foster when he was director. It kind of means hurry up, or let's go, or pep up. So you say Hubba Big Band (Lets Go Big Band). Of course that is my definition. It may be more to it if you search FAMU history.
and people say they cant blow. please this is proof right here that they can blow those horns. and unlike most bands they sound good blowin their horns
To my young Katz: Please take a moment and explore the(70's 80's) Groups/Bands of old.... on UA-cam. There are a host of horn licks untouched. I'm surprised this one is still hanging in there. Back then Music was Music, and not a VoiceCorder:( Groups had Horn sections! Below are a few: Earth Wind & Fire, Cameo, SOS Band, B.T.Express,Brick,ConFunkShun,Fatback Band,Mandrill(fencewalk),LTD, and a host of others. Explore the past. What once was old... can now be NEW. Its all on UA-cam!
@blueraspberry100 im going to a community college first. im a senior now then im going down there. but i kinda want to go there as soon as i graduate.... im just so anxious
@Music1592 LOL, well I am sure they are about the same size they were in 99 so it shouldn't be too much of a problem if they get there early in their seats.
@rryles13 really? but texas southern has graduated succeful jazz musicians. i dont know them cause that happened back 20 to 30 years ago back when their band was one of the best in the country. and im sure other HBCU's have graduated successful musicians back during that time as well. i only want to be in hbcu bands cause they're fun and i know i'll be good at it
@Gentleman1911 hey hold on gentlemen, im younger generation and i knew it was by cameo. but i love music. i marched for northwest halifax high in littleton near Warren County High, im a freshmen at A&T now but i dont play for them
@Gentleman1911 i actually think they're the best at everything with band and outside of band. tell me who else gives famu competition school wise and band wise
@TheBassfinatic In what dimension are you living. The only bands that take Alabama State as a serious threat are AAMU, Alcorn, and Morgan State. Don't think cause yall had one decent year that yall can sit at the big boy table of bands.
@mariyaakakida i disagree because southern doesnt have balance. every section in southerns band is always louder than the other which is a bad thing. sure FAMU isnt loud most times but who cares. loud doesnt prove that you're good. all loud means is that you're loud. the only SWAC bands i say that could compete with FAMU as far as quality of sound goes is UAPB, Jackson State and Texas Southern. since i come from a corps style back ground FAMU and the rest MEAC is who i like better than the SWAC
1. I never said they were detrimental to society, I just said that the education at an HBCU isnt equal to the education of an Ivy league school. They just don't have the resources to compete with Harvard academically. Band is another story WHICH IS WHY I SAID "this school is only good if you want to pursue a degree in music"
@TheDragonmaster18 FAMU is not even ranked among the top 10 HBCU's. Spelman, Morehouse, Howard, Tuskegee, Xavier, Fisk, and Hampton are in the top 10. FAMU is known for their band but other HBCU's are better known for research, engineering, producing doctors, dentists, vets, judges, etc.
@TheDragonmaster18 and make sure if you decide to go to FAMU, that they still have their accreditation, they were on probation before, but the band is still good! LMAO!
@jamie201120 LMAO! @ "prduccess" Did you go to FAMU too? I'm not hating, I just recognize every school's strengths and weaknesses. And yes, the HBCU that graduated from was in the top 5.
@dintimanaterxbl This is not su FAMU has a musical sound that is so much better than playing just loud any band can play loud and out of tune but not FAMU the best in the land
THE DRUMLINE AND THOSE TUBAS ARE OFF THE CHAIN...!!
FAMU is such a classy band. They will take music that always sounds awful on paper, make it characteristic, and still be entertaining. Good for them!
That tuba soli is sick!!!
Might not be the greatest arrangement but it sounds super nice. The execution is typical FAMU. Quality over sheer power.
FAMU has the best version of neck. I don't even go to school here but being a college tuba player, I love the shit out of this tuba part.
❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Security & the Sheriff are groovin to it too, lol
2:32 Everyone: "Nigga-"
i cant wait to play baritone at FAMU best band really

@harrah5 yeah i know they had that problem before but when they got the president they have now back in 2007 he's been making FAMU look good
A lot of people like to say that FAMU doesn't come with power... Thats straight BULL... Famu doesnt OVERBLOW so its gon SOUND like noones trying to blow but in reality we are MUCH louder than other bands...
That trumpet, he know he got his ass whooped for that
Yooo. If you're in this band: you're my hero. Studs from top to bottom. Salud!
very musical...not jus cranking....i like
that Tuba break GO HARD!!!!!!!!!!!
This is an 09 video of FAMU. They had 10 of them back then.
Goddamn do I wish I knew how to fully play that song on my tuba
@Kinzer007 That question should really be directed to someone from FAMU but it is a term that a couple of bands use but originated at FAMU from legendary band director Dr. William Foster when he was director. It kind of means hurry up, or let's go, or pep up. So you say Hubba Big Band (Lets Go Big Band). Of course that is my definition. It may be more to it if you search FAMU history.
and people say they cant blow. please this is proof right here that they can blow those horns. and unlike most bands they sound good blowin their horns
Let's talk about how hard it is to hit those notes in middle school especially for trumpets
wow sounds pretty good! rpops to the tubas!

@Music1592 LOL, well I am sure they are about the same size they were in 99 so it shouldn't be too much of a problem if they get there early in their seats.

@Gentleman1911 wat does hubba mean?
yea sure. i guess that's why their business school didn't earn accreditation this year..because they're such a good school.
@rryles13 really? but texas southern has graduated succeful jazz musicians. i dont know them cause that happened back 20 to 30 years ago back when their band was one of the best in the country. and im sure other HBCU's have graduated successful musicians back during that time as well. i only want to be in hbcu bands cause they're fun and i know i'll be good at it
wow good job famu
@Gentleman1911 It's actually much bigger than the 99 band.
@Gentleman1911 hey hold on gentlemen, im younger generation and i knew it was by cameo. but i love music. i marched for northwest halifax high in littleton near Warren County High, im a freshmen at A&T now but i dont play for them

Actually, this is a good arrangment, minus the first measure. More fuller than the SU version.
@dantoi2314 Im pretty sure CAMEO owns this song..im just saying
Nice
@mariyaakakida i disagree because southern doesnt have balance. every section in southerns band is always louder than the other which is a bad thing. sure FAMU isnt loud most times but who cares. loud doesnt prove that you're good. all loud means is that you're loud. the only SWAC bands i say that could compete with FAMU as far as quality of sound goes is UAPB, Jackson State and Texas Southern. since i come from a corps style back ground FAMU and the rest MEAC is who i like better than the SWAC
