Thank you for doing this, James. This is something I had mentioned when you first got that device and were plugging it into the hi-fi. The results definitely are good. I just had another idea as you were making good on the suggestion. If you had some kind of cable splitter that could divide up the separate channels of a stereo spread so you could export it to separate channels, that could be something else you might want to try.
A great product by Vox, indeed. It also works well with computer speakers, in Stereo. I have this Amplug and a Steinberger Spirit travel guitar with me on my summer hollydays🙂
I just use wifi speaker with a greater watt capacity . A wire from headphone out to the speaker gives amazing mini travel rig. I have the blues version and I use an old peavey electro acoustic which has a piezo fitted. Sounds brilliant
@@Rocklicks72 It does give a more richer sound i find, and like you i prefer to have the amPlug where i can get at the controls rather than dangling out of the guitar! 😊
thanks for sharing this information. The AC30 Amplug1 also works very well with a real trebble booster. The AC30 Amplug2 does works with a trebble booster, but it has too much gain, I wasn‘t able to make it clean up🙂
is there a need for the cable extender and what would happen if i just plugged the Vox AmPlug2 into the guitar direct? just wondering as i dont own a cable extender and im thinking about buying the Vox AmPlug2 Brian May i would love for a response and you made an amazing video and you definetly earned yourself a new subscriber!
The problem with plugging direct into amp is you’re mixing the sound of the amPlug with the natural sound of the amp. Using the aux in means its neutral sound simply amplifies the sound of the amPlug . The extender isn’t essential it just means you don’t need to have amPlug in the guitar not being able to see the settings Hope that helps 😊
Might seem like a crazy Idea but i wonder how well it would do connected to a pedal or set of pedals? So you connect it into where you would normally have the pedals going into the amp but plugged into this instead. It might not work at all but im curious to see if it can be done or how what would even sounds like.
It will be noisy, since the Amplug already is so🙂 The following might sound too progresive, but I would suggest to everybody inserting litle 10:1 audio transformers in your signal chain, between pedals, for reducing both signal and noise levels wherever needed. That‘s what I do, it avoids having volume knobs almost at zero, getting again too much amplification and noise in the next pedal, atennuating again via volume knob almost at zero, and so on. I have stolen this Idea from the High End Audio Exhibition in Munich, where a company exhibited transformer based volume controls.
I have the Amplug 3 UK drive. It works with pedals really well. Sounds a million times better than the Boss Katana. Mine is connected to a pedalboard that has 10 pedals and it’s very QUIET. Worth mentioning that I power my pedalboard with a battery pack which further reduces noise (Joyo sell a little adapter to convert a phone battery pack into a pedalboard board power supply)
I’m using this method but when I turn it up a bit my amp is cutting out. Dues that happen to others. Any advice I would so appreciate. Love this video!! Thank you.
Hello james...i bought the amplug and I'm using it..but it makes a whistling sound that anoys me alot(when i put the gain over 6) and idk what to do with it..do you have any solutions?😊
Don’t put it over 6 😂 It might be the headphones you’re using is feeding back. I’ve also noticed that when the batteries are running low the device starts acting up

A much more economic solution than the ‘convert to a pedal’ option I’ve seen on various forums . Great shout James !
Must admit I liked the look of the pedal but at £360 spending £2.70 on an adapter seems a lot more economical
@@Rocklicks72agreed 🤘
I have the BM Digitech pedal - paid about £85 back in the day. The BM Amplug arriving tmw and I’ll certainly use this setup for playing in the garden.

I’ve got a headphone splitter so yea you could send signal to two amps
Groovy, James.
Cheers in your ears (and ours),

Sounds good James, the Aux In is not affected by the practice amp settings so this is a good way to go.
Seems so obvious to do. Don’t why I didn’t think earlier
Amazing how great that little box works! 😃. Rock on 🎸🎸🎸. 🌸
Thanks James for your info, great sound 👍
Thanks for the info!
No worries!
🎸 Great sound 🎸🤗❣
Many thanks!!
Great bit of kit, i find using a real TB increases the sound quality switching the onboard one off. 😊
That’s actually a good idea 😊

A good thing about this Amplug is that it is stereo. So you could even use it in a stereo setup.

Could be amps fault or I found the amPlug acts funny when batteries are running out of power
@@Rocklicks72 figured it out. GC sold me an amp with a 24vAC instead of DC. Thanks bro.
That little extender thing is good.
Aye, only cost £2.75
Great!!
What type of lead do you need to plug from the vox headphone amp to the practice amp.
I just used a stereo phono lead
@@Rocklicks72 thanks very much mate, great channel great playing 👍
Do I use a TRS or TS extender?
TS mono. The same size as a normal guitar lead
Hi james, you had your guitar converted. Does it make difference
Huge difference.
Could i just connect the amplug directly to a fender champion 100 input??
If it has aux in then yes
Have you got the link to the cable extender from amazon cheers

Hello james...
How loud can this setup get?
And does it sound any good out loud?
Can it get close to the mv50 tonewise?
I’ve had it full blast….. just ask my neighbour’s 😂
@@Rocklicks72 thank you so much mate.
But does it sound anything like the mv50 while using it with that volume?
Which AMP is that?
It’s an Echoplex practice amp. They don’t make them anymore
