Introducing the Vox MV50 Brian May and amPlug Brian May

- Sir Brian May and Vox have joined forces to make the legendary guitarist’s iconic tone accessible to all. Two new products - the MV50 Brian May, and
amPlug Brian May - are the result of the collaboration.
amPlug Brian May
With the amPlug Brian May guitar headphone amplifier, you can get the legendary guitarist’s classic tone anytime, anywhere - through any set of standard headphones.
Designed to recreate the unique sound of Brian’s Red Special and cranked AC30 signal chain (and not to forget the sixpence), our mission with this very special edition of the amPlug was to make Brian’s instantly recognisable tone accessible to all.
With the amPlug’s AC30 + Treble Booster setting, and three onboard effects (“Brighton Rock” delay, phaser and chorus) inspired by Brian, the amPlug Brian May is literally “the Brian May tone in the palm of your hand”.
But the amPlug Brian May goes further than delivering on tone. Featuring a range of backing rhythms, including the “We Will Rock You” stomps and claps, you can jam along to classic tracks in your headphones.
MV50 Brian May
Powered by Vox’s Nutube technology - a revolutionary new vacuum tube that produces authentic tube tone at a fraction of the size and power - the MV50 Brian May is based on the MV50 circuitry and AC30 tone, but with the addition of a KAT (Knight Audio Technologies) treble booster, which can be toggled on or off, allowing guitarists to achieve Brian May’s instantly recognisable tone.
With a 50w output at 4ohms, the MV50 packs a large punch despite its small size, making it just as suited for gigging and rehearsal as for practicing at home. And with speaker emulation in the headphone/line out, the MV50 Brian May can be recorded without needing to mic up a cab.
Both the MV50 Brian May and amPlug Brian May are available in a special collector’s edition set, including matching speaker cab, keychain and postcards.

We love you sir
God bless Sir Brian May and Rory Gallagher!! Thanks Vox for both artists in one amp!
Brian May is always humble and respectful about his inspirations, whether it's Rory or Clapton or Les Paul etc...he's a real professional
@@jasondorsey7110 That is correct sir. I had said in another post someone had put he copied Rorys sound. I replied Sir Brian would be the first to say he got it from Rory very humbly as a young man when asked. Class gentleman.
I guess but Brian is on record saying he didn't like the Vox turned up... until he put the treble booster in the chain.
So nice to hear him play "It's Late" - very overlooked song.
An AC-30, turned up, is a glorious thing!
Way to go, Dr Bri!
It's also stupidly loud, and most people cannot realistically do it without getting Police at their door. These are great substitutes.
Great to have Brian recognized with the Vox sound, would be great to see a full size signature Ac15/30 next 👍🏻
They already did a signature AC30 many years ago. Kind of brittle to use on a live gig without a power soak.
They already did that, the Brian May Vox ac30 amp, I have one.
That is brutle, as in ear crushing and police attracting.
@@itslikethesamebutdifferent8020 I should clear things up. I mean as a sort of updated Brian May family of amps as they release these new models. Plugin to AC30 combo of sorts would be just great to see as a fan.
That is super cool! Brian May seems like one of the genuinely nicest guys in music, not to mention just a super cool human being. I’d love to just sit in a room and hear him talk about gear, music, and his life. Oh, and these amps are super cool, too! LOL
Such a humble man he is. And a composed and learned man too. His sound was quickly a trademark to me and many I believe when I know about him 25 years ago. God bless him and his loved ones. ❤
Love Brian May! I remember the first solo I ever learned was the we will rock you solo Queen was really my introduction into music and I’m so grateful to Brian May’s playing
Very Cool, Thankyou. Proud Vox Valvetronix VT40+ owner here. Such an amazing Amp and so much fun to play through. Very Interested in The Brian May Series. Cheers
Great little set-up, sounds awesome.
Thank you Vox, we all needed this
I love the MV50 Rock. I can’t wait to try this one!!
The image of Brian May in the Bohemian Rhapsody video, that sound and the guitar hero image was burned into my memory at age ten and utterly determined the direction of my life. I'd love to meet him and shake his hand.
Brian is Legendary, as Vox amps. 🔥
Bought the amPlug today! Can’t wait for it to arrive!!
May we all want to live forever as the champions of the world! These tones are giving me case of body language!
Pete Mallandrone-the unsung part of the legendary sound!!! What a hero
I'll have one of those, thank you! Love the red tone
You’re a truly great person, I will do my best to get one of these Sir Brian May.
Sir?
U mean Queen!
Both products sound great
I can’t imagine not loving Brian May
Amazing sound
I have used or tied almost every gadget, tone bender, amp setting, and gimmick known to man, I still declare myself useless! I might get one of these and become a better man. Brian May is unique. I salute you Sir and thank you for the years of pleasure you and Queen gave us.
I just ordered one.. Can't wait,,
This is awesome!
Oh I got to have one of those !!
Sounds great 👍
Can't wait to order my BMG Red Special 😁
I need this AND the SEIKO Brian May edition watch , gotta match 😍
Oh my God!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!
These look cool as hell.
nothing new. old designs, eq'ed slightly different. HOTONE amps did all these years ago. And the vox plug has been around for a decade.
Rory is one of my favourite guitarists of all time and Queen is what first got me into music before I heard rory. This product to me is a tribute to both of them. I'm buying this rn, Love you May and Gallagher
Brian May u are a TREASURE, love ya
LEGEND🤘🏼🤘🏼

So cool
Brian may !!!!! 🙌
Love Vox Amplug2s was thinking about getting an AC-30 one, bit I might get thus Brian May one.
RESPECT!!!
Really stoked to see these amps!! 😀👍
I'm definitely getting the Amplug, as I've already have a few of those (AC30, Bass, and the brilliant Satriani) and they're incredible sounding....
So I expect nothing less from this red baby 😜👍
The MV amp, however, should - in my opinion - come with a 1x12" cab instead of 1x8"...
But that's just me - I have cabs, so just the RedHead will do me 😎🙏
That's cool to hear that you have some of the other Amplug models and like them, because I'm totally thinking about getting this one myself! I think with my BMG Special plugged into it, I should at least get close to that trademark Brian May tone!
Great 🤗❣
Interesting stuff! I got the Vox MV50 Clean as a pedal platform / small backup amp.
It's really better than expected and these Brian May signature amps are probably a good option for all who want that sound but have limited money.
Cool stuff. I have the Metal amPlug, it's great.
Fair play.
I love Brian May's iconic sound, and wish that the "Vox AmPlug2 Brian May" would exist as a floor pedal where you could add and remove the effects that are typical of Brian's sound. I am convinced that such a pedal would make numerous guitarists happy.
With guitaristic greetings from Germany
Mic 🙂
All hail Brian May!
Legend
As a follow-up on my earlier post:
Just received my AmPlug Brian May! 👍
Straight out of the wrapper, batteries (which are included!!) put in, and plugged into our stereo in the living room.
Sounds só good.... 😎👍
The stereo FX are really well done (instant Brighton Rock, just couldn't contain myself 🤣)
The green channel (regular AC30 crunch tone) itself is just beautiful: I started with tone halfway and gain very low, and it certainly has thát chime you'd expect.
And *then* you gradually turn up the gain.... 🤘😎🤘
The red channel (with the phenomenal Trebleboost) brings it to a whole new level, again. Bri-lliant...
Obviously when you're going for thát classic Brain May tone, you'll best use singlecoil pickups. Of course it'll work with humbuckers, but you will probably lose some clarity (haven't tried that yet).
And the red channel is pretty noisy too - again: I play singlecoils, so that makes sense.
I absolutely love it...
This is my 5th AmPlug (so far!!), and they are just borderline-ridiculously useful & great to play around with! I've successfully recorded with them before (the Bass plug is so *fat* and punchy!) and this one will undoubtedly do great as well...
As a (predominantly) Marshall user, I've been pleasantly surprised repeatedly by the new Vox gear! Recently found a Valvetronix 100W head with 4x12 cab, and it really adds a lot of sonic options...
Thanks Vox!!! Can't wait to see what you come up with next 👍😎🙏🙏🦊
And obviously many *many* thanks to Sir Bri as well 😀👍🙏
Maybe we can get a early Ritchie blackmore sound from this Brian may signature mv50 and amplug
Huzzah!!! Keep yourself alive Brian we love you!
i trust brian, im going to buy it
Ouah... the MV with the vox cab My futur amp/ cabinet
Lovely little amp.
WHERE'S THE SODDING FX LOOP!!!!!
I bought the mv50 ac a couple of months ago and now they release a Brian May version. I think I should have waited a bit longer
Don’t worry about , they are basically the same , the only difference is the Brian May version included a Kat treble booster
@@RedSpecialSuomi are you sure that the two amps are same except the KAT treble booster?? I own MV50AC with Fryer TB connected, but it does not generate such distorted sound as this UA-cam. I guess MV50BM may have more gain without TB.
@@dairyoma They're running it through a small cab. Of course it's gonna sound like that. I run my MV50AC with the Treble Booster Classic with the BC 112 cab and it sings!
My first amp was a XOX AC30 - bought second hand. I am not a professional musician, I am also over seventy. But I still joy music, and play for a hobby. My current amp is a VOX VT 40+. It is a brilliant piece of kit. I feel somewhat loyal to VOX, because they were originally made in Dartford, where I was born. Alright. I would like to also get hold of a Marshall High Wat stack - but where am I going to use it?
Cool!!! Does it have send and return jacks?
I have an MV50 clean, amazing tone, more than loud enough to gig with through a 2x12 or 4x14, BUT there is no reverb or effects loop so no proper way to add one. Vox have you added one to this?
Supongo que necesitaré una red special guitar también...
Don't give up your AC30 Brian. That small amp may sound good but your AC30 sounds great.
Brown May is so cool
Nice ;)
I wanted a BMG with that color, but I had to get a red one due to limited availability:(
Brian May and Rory Gallagher, guitar masters!!!
Vox makes sure I have things to spend my money on. Gallagher/May amp is a must for me
RORY!!!
I run a tele into an AC 30 Amplug into a Palmer Direct PDI-09 out to FOH. Sounds like a real vintage AC30.
i love queen & brian
but i sold all my vox amps and never looked back
i DO have the delaylab still though 😊
to clarify they are NOT BAD amps
just not quite what we were going for 😅
beatles tone = flatwound strings deeptones & vox high treble amps🎉
Gunna sell a million of these
BTW, that amp is beautiful.
Всегда красиво получается умеют проффесионалы
G R E A T!
🥺🎉Superbe
I want It All....
Yes I want it all....Yeah Yeah!! Absolutely Brilliant!! Take my money @VoxAmps
Not bad. Get a AC-30 vintage. Talk about clean, divine POWER. Love that amp.
How is it that small 🤯
Dear VOX Amps, do you plan to have those Brian May models available here in the USA? There are some of us out here who are also enamered by Sir Brian! Also if you could bring back his signature AC 30.
Check reverb dude. They have the amplug combo and the mv50 combo.
@@murdock8068 i just recently found out. Definitely going there.
@@joerojas5448 No worries brother. Good luck with your purchase and hope it serves you well my friend.
Imagine him bringing this to a Stadium Gig, (as he said) You wouldn't see it, I wonder how the sound would be??
Don't forget the most important factor in Brian's guitar tone; the sixpence coin!
its coin emulator option can do that, settings are sixpence, us quarter, mexican peso, modern euro and washer found on the curb.
I don't think I'd be able to hold six at once
Has to be a _signature series_ coin at 3 times the price or else it won't work.
So will I get a good tone with a Fender Performer Stratocaster. Bacause at the moment I‘ll not buy the guitar also, even though the Red Special is amazing
Can the amplug be used with humbuckers?
Just take my money...🤘
i love you
👍
The old Blue Tonelab was the best thing Vox ever made.
How much?!
I've got a MV50 AC, what's the difference?
The are same don’t worry about , the only real difference is the Brian May included a Kat treble booster in the circuit . You can buy for your mv50 separate treble booster
If you’re a guitarist and don’t own at least one MV50, do you even guitar bro? 😂 Great little amps, really want Brian’s to add to my collection!
I wish it was packed in a solid Combo ...
All this small things are not mine...
Absolutely love Brian but it seems over priced as you can get an actual ac30 for ‘not too much more’
Crap... I need this for a spitfire I want.
Now a The Edge one!!!
So what valves does it have??
The MV series head uses NUtube tech. The headphone amplug is uh duh solid state digital modeling. Tubes are great but Solid State digital and analog have come full circle these last 5 years. It's quite extrodinary. i've sold my heavy ancient tube gear in favor of quilter amps...but Fender Tonemaster is great, Vox MV and Super Beetle mini are awesome....BOSS is kicking all sorts of ass with Katana and Nextone.
@@topfacemod totally agree, I myself have the mini super beetle and it’s fantastic, there’s also the new Roland blues cube series along with everything else you mentioned, I personally want the blues cube artist one
@@topfacemod yes I’ve got a Katana and I can ring up just about any sound. I have a GT1000, but it’s go so much stuff in it I get lost.
@@robertsole9970 've got a Katana Mini and I might play it more than anything else. Practicing.
@@topfacemod I have an old Boss Zoom handheld guitar signal processor from like 2005 and I like it a lot too, I plug in in and use headphones and it’s got some great built in crunch tones.
Run a boss metal zone through it
I like the idea of the MV50s, but I just wished it didn't looked like a toy.
I think this was supposed to come out 4 days ago?
So let me get it straight... I buy this little thing and I sound exactly like Brian May?
The upgrade for your brain and fingers is coming SOON.
The big old badger..
TAKE MY MONEY
This sounds really really fizzy, gosh I was expecting summat smoother. Hopefully it'll be different in't shops.
Brian May is actually my Aunt
