My name is Kathy and I fell in love with the sound of this duo of pure feelings of the times as a child, and today, I still share the same amazing love! 🌹💕🎵💝
Paul Simon is one of the most gifted song writer's, along with Bob Dylan, of this diversified time in Music Lore... Beautifully sung ballad!!! ❤❤ Love, Kathy...
Yes I agree, Cathy's song is truly Paul's most beautiful love song. It really is a magical, sweet and touching song, and, Paul's fantastic gituar playing; goes perfectly with the song. I love to hear Art singing this song, as much as I love to hear both of them sings it. Art's soft, anglic tone goes beautifully with the words of the song.
inspiration is a gift from god talent is the ability to bring it to fruition and humbleness is the experience that you achieve when you share it Simon and Garfunkel I thank you for all the above.
Strange but to me Paul singing this song sounds way better. His singing is right up there with his writing and guitar playing talent. He's a beautiful musician and this song is his best.
Absolutely agree. This song was written for Paul’s beautiful voice. It was nice of him to let Art sing it with him as this song is very personal to Paul. Paul’s original is definitely the best.
They could probably??? They definitely would! ;-) Simon and Garfunkel are two of the greatest cult figures of the 20th century. Their music is real music, not comparable with the dull music of today! Most of the "music" today is rubbish. S&C embody peace, love and calmness with their songs
Imagine walking along the street in the 60s and hearing these two playing, later to discover that they had become one of the most successful folk rock duos/bands of all time.
When I was 15 (1965) I wrote an essay at school about my favourite modern-day poem, explaining why it was my favourite. Needless to say my choice was 'Kathy's Song'. I got great marks and my English master was so impressed with the lyrics he asked me about Paul Simon. He was quite shocked when I explained who and what he was. It was a choice between this and 'I Am A Rock'. I'm sure either would have won his admiration! A real 20th Century poet.
I, too, was 15 in 1965, so I can and do appreciate your sentiments. This song sends me right back to then. It is sacred almost to me; that is, I feel humble and grateful when I listen to it, gratified that it was written and sung so beautifully at an age when it meant so much.
Way ahead of there time, those songs that made gold were actually tears old. but didn't hit the rock and roll charts until much later in their careers, Then Paul goes to Africa and comes back with something brilliant.
Amazing, still as heart rendering as the first time I heard this song, a version recorded in 1969. Still relevant, and as if they are somehow singing a page from my journal. (I'm sure I'm the only person who feels like this, Please Note Heavy Sarcasm...I'm sure I"m but one o many who feel like they found my journal and composed a song) Still Brilliant after all these years....
See Shells... No, you are definitely not the only one. Paul Simon penned some wonderfully, sweet poetical lyrics, but Cathy's song, is quite something else. I love both Paul and Art singing it, both have very distinctive voices and both give it the feelings and depth it requires, but, Art's voice, gives Cathy's song wings... I love both S&G... Forever in my heart. March 2021 UK.
The late 60's and early 70's were turbulent times. That generation fought against social norms to provide the changes in racial, gender and social injustice that we take for granted today. This music provided some of the inspiration that fuled those causes in their quite, soulful way. These guys are icons! Much beloved. I hear one of their songs, close my eyes, and remember...
How can a hu-man say he's gonna give up writing songs? I just don't get it Paul, and to be honest I don't believe those were your words... but I love you for them anyway. You eat breath and sleep in the music projects you have done over the years. Thanks for leading me to Graceland at such an early age. we are so connected, this great big and small world of ours... must be a dream come true to see the fruit of so may labors of love. I have often said that the biggest regret of my life was throwing a party when I was in high school and staying back home to throw a party, rather than going to see him play live at SPAC for hours, song after song. But I feel like I almost made it up to myself when I had the opportunity to support "the hole in the wall gang" - #Me&Julio
This has been my all-time favorite Paul Simon song for many, many years. It's very special to me. And I was always convinced that there was no video recording of him playing it live. This is amazing. Any one know if there's any video recording of Paul playing and singing it live?
I wish Paul wouldn't cut the outro short, it's the best part of the song. Ive seen a dozen live versions of this song and he never plays the full ending.
I will "pretende" that you are joking. Do you really know them? They are consider by Bilboard and RollingStones magazines the best duo of all time? Paul Simon is probably, the best song writer/poet ever. They are on the road for more than 50 years. That's why I'll "pretend" that you are joking.
@bobx2x2 Agreed. The whole point of listening to a Paul Simon song is to remain completely silent so that the exquisite poignancy can be fully absorbed and appreciated whilst his genius washes over you. The time to show appreciation is before and after. This modern trend of shrieking and whistling during the performance seemed to gather pace as a result of these appalling "talent" competitions which now pollute our TV screens. These must be the same morons who can't find jobs. I wonder why.
@DuhEnlightenedOne The thing about America's Got Talent IS THAT THEY PROBABLY WOULDN'T (the problem being the show format and manipulated audience NOT THE PERFORMERS.
@purplepelican69 I agree with you completely except for the "same morons" comment. I've never had a job and love Simon and Garfunkel: don't lump everyone in with the layabouts, mate, it doesn't bear out.
Why do folk in the crowd yell out and whoop during such a delicate acoustic song. We don't want to hear their disruptive contributions. Wait until the last note has faded away.
paul simon's most beautiful haunting love song. thanks paul and artie. amazing...
One of the best love songs EVER writen
My name is Kathy and I fell in love with the sound of this duo of pure feelings of the times as a child, and today, I still share the same amazing love! 🌹💕🎵💝
Paul Simon is one of the most gifted song writer's, along with Bob Dylan, of this diversified time in Music Lore... Beautifully sung ballad!!! ❤❤ Love, Kathy...
Such naked sincerity and tenderness is rare in modern music. My soul returns to S&G upon many a hollow night.
Garfunkel is right: Simon's most beautiful love song.
Art is right probably Paul’s most beautiful love song
Perfect for Arts voice
Yes I agree, Cathy's song is truly Paul's most beautiful love song. It really is a magical, sweet and touching song, and, Paul's fantastic gituar playing; goes perfectly with the song. Thank you Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel for this music. This music will live on for very, very long time!
Hearing this song calms me.. I cant sleep without hearing the S&G songs.. Especially Arts voice...
One of my absolutely loves, of Paul's songs. This one and 🌉, is so beautiful, I never fail to feel every word passionately. Love these two. 💕 💕 💕 💕 💕
I cry every time I hear Artie sing this song - so beautiful! So happy for him when he gets that great reaction from the crowd!!! 🥰
Yes, I agree. Sad though that you can actually see Paul's resentment of Art here. Makes me so sad.
Thank you so much for posting this amazing, beautiful, incredible, breathtaking performance!
inspiration is a gift from god
talent is the ability to bring it to fruition

Paul Simon is a poet no doubt about it
~ Prophets, poets and troubadours ~
Grateful to have lived in their time.
+constance pierce Wonderfully put.
Are you insane? These guys are the best Folk-Rock Duo in the history of music!
They could probably??? They definitely would! ;-) Simon and Garfunkel are two of the greatest cult figures of the 20th century. Their music is real music, not comparable with the dull music of today! Most of the "music" today is rubbish. S&C embody peace, love and calmness with their songs

One of the most beautiful songs ever and 14 people don't get it ? Perhaps in 50 years they will understand as well.
I loved all the songs on this album
When you are this good, you are Art Garfunkel.
Amen.
A perfect duo!

These 2 songs are my favorite ever, too!!! Real masterpieces of poetry, rhymes and melody!!!

This song has very special meaning to me. RIP my CMG, I will always love you
Paul is such an amazing guitarist \ singer/ songwriter.....
Way ahead of there time, those songs that made gold were actually tears old. but didn't hit the rock and roll charts until much later in their careers, Then Paul goes to Africa and comes back with something brilliant.
Haven't heard this in many years. Thanks for posting.
That was mind blowing!!

To think that Kathy left Paul because of the fame. If anyone wrote me a song this incredible I’d be with them forevermore.
And Paul sang it on the record, by the way. But Art took it on the next level.

Très beau !❤❤❤❤❤❤
Simple y bello!
Incredible xx
The Dynamic Dual love these guys
What a lovely song! I personally prefer Paul’s original from the S&G album.
Great song! Would have loved if Paul had sung it himself.
Beautiful music like love endures.
I sort of wished that the audience didn't shout comments when they were sing and just shut the hell up and enjoyed Art's singing and Paul's playing
Eva Cassidy just made a cover, the real genious behind this lovely song is Paul Simon.
Dude seriously? They'd win it a thousand times over man. :)
yes was written long long time ago
LOve the song
Wish they had sung in harmony.

Audience over-participation is exactly why I'm not a fan of concert DVDs: I like to either go to the concert or listen to the recorded CD.
Me too!😭
there but by the grace of you go
I always thought Paul sang this. I'm so confused, lol.
Clear Thinker he does, only in live versions art sings
The original recording is with Paul, also the early live performances. Art sang in on their reunion tour.
To Bobbie V.Elm, N.J. Yes I do remember love,...Rick.

I was aware that Paul Simon had spent time in England.
Was not aware that Arthur was there with him.
Paul has spent one year in England while Art was working on his Master degree in mathematics. He only visited him some times.

Topi song from suri India 💋💞💋🇮🇳💞
This song belongs on the golden disc aboard the next Voyager. Aliens will get to see that humans are loving a race!
@purplepelican69 I agree with you completely except for the "same morons" comment. I've never had a job and love Simon and Garfunkel: don't lump everyone in with the layabouts, mate, it doesn't bear out.
Musical GODS, correction - Lyrical GODS
@DuhEnlightenedOne lol, a strange urge to slap you shook me for a second...I better now :)
アートが歌ってるは珍しい‼️
Imagine if these two guy's had never met?
I presume that was an American audience
Why do folk in the crowd yell out and whoop during such a delicate acoustic song. We don't want to hear their disruptive contributions. Wait until the last note has faded away.
Did I understand this right?
Kathy would collect the money?
That must have been Paul Simon’s lowest point on hair… he’s almost bald there…
Well, if Art would not have had his wig he would had looked the same 😅
great song , bad recording.
