You did it again Albert. You truly nailed it. Though I have some experience painting cubist art, your lesson and how you deconstructed the principles of cubism made it even simpler and more accessible for me to execute. This clip is a Grammy award-deserving production. Thank you for the lesson.
Hi Salim, thanks, where can I collect the Oscar 😁 It gave headaches but suddenly I saw how I could tell the story. It was all new to me but thanks to you for asking for it. I could no longer skip this interesting art style. I'm glad I made the video and dove into it. Have a happy day, Albert
This is my first cubic painting tutorial I am going through ever. I did some cubic art before but mostly looking at other cubic art and just following my intuition. This one really opens up the basics in more depth. Thanks for the wonderful lesson
Hi Arko, thanks for sharing. Nice abstract head you made, especially the different sides of the face combined. Also the bold dark lines and use of color make it powerful. Love it, Albert
Excellent tutorial with clear explanations of the important distinctions between the 2 major styles of cubism..would love to see your take on American modernist painter Stuart Davis style which synthesized elements of cubism and an early proto pop art...
Hi Steve, thanks. It was also interesting to make. You suggest Stuart Davis, interesting, thanks. Because I live in Europe I tend to see more European painters, so I'm always happy when a new painter is introduced to me. I'll put him on my (long and growing) list. Albert
You are amazing Albert. Your videos are an inspiration. You have helped me so much to get back to art and start to play and have fun with shape and colour. Thank you.
You're fantastic! Great great artist and I love the way you explain every step. You have great knowledge... I am into learning cubism now, I have always been a surrealist painter since I was born! ❤ Thank you for the content 🙏
Thanks for this video Albert! You've defined and explained the characteristics of both styles of cubism really well and I finally understand it! Will definitely be giving it a try!

Love this video!! It's so fun, informative and delightful 😄 that's pretty mind-blowing, that one movement, Cubism, was the foundation for so much art and style (even comic books🦸♂️when you think about it) ever since.
Thanks Carrie, it's also a bit logica because it came along not so long after abstract became the new thing. So when something looks like squares it's not always cubism style inspired. But it certainly had an influence. And it's fun style to try for yourself. Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings sure! It was the shading part, knowing how they get that certain finished look with the black and whites on different sides was great, its my first time learning how to paint this type of art so that was definitely helpful 😊
Good Morning Albert! My all time favorite period is Art Deco. I love this and I have to say I love the analytic cubism painting - it is absolutely wonderful!
Hi Rebecca, thanks. Interesting, maybe I will look into art deco also. I learned that so many art movements came from cubism, maybe interesting to look at them separately. Have a wonderful day Albert
Thanks, Enrica. Indeed, I often use paint as glue. I have the paint at hand, and glue would have made a mess of the thin strip of a newspaper. Just try it for yourself. Albert
Hi Alison, I just checked the moment in the video and I feel it again. It's interesting to do and experience it yourself. It helped me to understand, but it was way out of my comfort zone. But who knows, a different type of cubist portrait, a more colorful, one could be nice. Albert
@@ImperfectPaintings Yours turned out well, so bravo. I think of painting everyday for the last 15years even with materials stacked in front of me for many of those years without being able to pick up a pencil to draw, frozen. Hi Alison, thanks for sharing your personal story. I can relate a little because I would love to paint an interesting portrait but I lack the skills but also the motivation to dive into it. Fear, simple fear of not being good enough. So I do other things, like abstract. And I like it more every day. I guess any subject you dive into can bring joy. In the mean time my skill level rises and perhaps I try it again next year. I guess you catch my drift. Just start doing anything creative, try every other day to scribble whatever.
