I'll be doing regular monthly Bible highlighting videos in my Path Finders Fellowship group. Launch is Oct 1, 2024. We'll be doing much more than highlighting but just wanted to let those of you who are watching this video know. Pre-Registration is now open and THERE’S BENEFITS TO PRE-REGISTERING hisancientways.com/path-finders
I have long been trying to find a highlighting system that is simple and that I can easily remember and do. And while watching a couple of your highlighting videos I finally figured out what can easily work for me. It just clicked. It’s basically the same as yours but I switched up a few colors that made it more easy to remember in my own brain. Blue- characteristics of God( I think of God in the clouds) Green- Commandments/ Instructions ( I think of a green light which means to go) Orange- warnings( like a safety vest) Pink- promises ( both start with p) Yellow- miscellaneous Purple- coming of christ( I think of a royal purple robe) And this is working out great for me so thank you! I’ve been enjoying all your videos.
Oh my goodness! I can't tell you how long I've been lamenting the fact that my Bibles have no attached ribbons. Thank you so much for showing that! 👏You know, I hadn't thought of it this way until you showed how you highlight, but by reading with one color at a time, you are not only switching the way your brain works each time, but you are essentially meditating on the word too. Good reason to read this way, even if I do have rogue highlighting going on currently. 😆
I don't always read passages that way. But when I do it's so helpful - like you said - it's a way to look for and find just that one thing. And I LOVE your phrase "rogue highlighting." That made me laugh 😅 because I've got a bit of a generalized rogue study system going on where I'm a little all over the place and I never know what I'm going to be doing from day to day. That's the impulsive side of me that just lets the Holy Spirit do whatever He wants with me! Thanks again for sharing 💓
Thank you so much for showing your Bible up close and reading at the pace you do. Very comforting. Your voice is wonderful and not cutesy or screechy or abrasive or sounding like commendation. God bless you🙏💙🌻🌻
For me, this is a blessing to watch you read thru and interact with the scriptures. I found other YT videos that use a whole lotta “pretty” and that makes my head spin. Your approach is slow and thoughtful. Thank you! (Used your link to buy stuff, yay 👍🏻)
Hi Nancy, I have been using a different highlighting chart that had me highlighting practically every word and while I found it fun at first, I noticed that when I went back to a passage I didn’t find it easy to pick out important points. This method requires a little more thought and seems to be more relevant in the end. Thank you!
I've seen systems which were loaded with so many colors that I just knew it would frustrate me in the end. To be fair I probably don't highlight as much in my own studies as I do in my highlighting videos. When I'm showing how to do it I want to give as many examples as possible. Anyway, thanks for watching and sharing that!
This is wonderful; eye opening and thought provoking. I would love to see part 3 using Matthew, along with more examples of identity highlighting examples of scripture. Thank you very much for sharing.❤🙏
Thank you so much for this video. I followed along with you. I really like your color code! I agree with the assignment of colors. I did get to the point where I just made a dot with my gel pen where the verse had more than one category. Thanks again! I’m now a subscriber 😊
Excellent system. Beginning a new Bible. I’ve identified my colors for coding but was lacking the system for implementing. Don’t care for the waxy pens. I settled on color pencils. They work best for me. Thank you
I haven't tried color pencils bu I know a lot of people like using them. I recently switched from the gel waxy highlighters to a Mr Pen liquid that doesnt bleed. I did a video on that switch. But I might try experimenting with colored pencils too. Thanks for watching and sharing!
I’m late to the video, but I was like you, hunting all over social media for a color coding system for Bible study. I believe the Holy Spirit led me to your videos. The way you think about colors and their meaning to you, plus what you felt was important to highlight, really clicked with me. I went through Psalm 94 and highlighted along with you, and a couple of times I was ahead of you, thinking this verse should be this different color, and then you confirmed it, which gave me confidence in the system. Thank you for ministering to me today on Good Friday, 2024. He is Risen!
Very good introduction to highlighting a Bible passage. Also like the six colours that you are using. Looking forward to more in the Old Testament seeing that you are loving reading it😊
I'm using the Mr Pen gel higlighters. You can find those here: amzn.to/3hf6JYG. And I also occassionally use the Pilot frixion light pastel erasable highlighters. You can find those here: amzn.to/3EhonmL. Thanks for asking!
Highlighting scripture is very subjective because it involves your reaction and mental organization of scripture based on your color system). Would you have highlighted anything differently? Please share!
I don't personally have a physical NLT that I can highlight in...my husband has one but he doesn't highlight and won't let me use his Bible for highlighting for videos. I could buy a new one...but I have too many as is. I do agree that the NLT is a great translation to begin with. But it's a very thought for thought type of translation so you still might be able to follow along.
Thanks for asking. "Identity" is who you are in Christ. What God says about you as one of His. Example: You're beloved, you're His daughter, you're a worth Christ fighting and dying for you. Your the temple of God and sealed by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1 has a great list of identity statements.
Our Identity in Christ. There are truths in the Bible that says who we are in Christ as born-again believers. Ephesians is a great book to read to understand who we are in Christ - we have been adopted into His family, we have been redeemed and forgiven, we are His workmanship. And much more than that. I'll be making a video on that in the near future. Thanks for watching and asking!

I don't know how I missed this video! Thank you for doing this tutorial.❤🎉
I think that YT doesn't always show videos in order and sometimes videos fall through the cracks. I'm glad you found it though! Thanks for watching ❤️

That's a great idea with just using a dot for multiple categories. Keeps it a little cleaner. Thanks for watching and sharing!

What kind of marker are you using?
I'm using the Mr Pen gel higlighters. You can find those here: amzn.to/3hf6JYG. And I also occassionally use the Pilot frixion light pastel erasable highlighters. You can find those here: amzn.to/3EhonmL. Thanks for asking!
I use erasable colored pens because sometimes I underline the words with the wrong assigned color since I underline nouns and verbs in a passage.
That's a good idea. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you share
Thank you for watching!
You could highlight in one color and underline in another
Yes! I do that sometimes too. Or sometimes I will circle in another color if it's just one word I want to highlight.
😊 thank you
Thanks for watching!

i wish this was in NLT im new at reading the bible

What Bible was the one you read the commentary from?
The ESV Fire Bible.
What is identity
