Your version is absolutely wonderful. I was watching how You play, when I was learning my own version of Turkisch March (but I play it a little bit differently from Your version) I`m agree with You, that we all should learning music by ear, cause in fact, it is the best way to be a good musician, especially if we play classical music, which is not easy. BIG greatings from Poland!
Hey there! I’m just reading your comment. I know your version as well, and it rocks! I learned this tune reading the piano music, but it was a huge challenge to memorize it so I could see where my hands went. I play more piano these days! Cheers from Las Vegas.
Thanks! I’d be thrilled if there is one. Unfortunately U toob became a dumpster fire of ad driven content years after this was released, and hardly anyone sees it now.
Absolutely unreal. As a beginner bass player, you've really shown me just to what extent someone can take a bass guitar to. You are truly an inspiration!
David, you rule. this is STILL awesome, i keep this is my favorites list, and i keep showing it to every other bass player i meet, and they are ALL blown away.
I first watched this about 12 years ago when I started learning bass. This was a major inspiration for me, showing me just what was possible through hard work and dedication. Thank you
Thanks, and glad you liked it! The song is "We'll Turn the Red Water Blue" which I recorded a few years ago. It's available on Itunes and other various places for download... Dave Hull
No, I've worked out an arrangement for the 4 string. It'll be a little bit before the 4 string sheet music is out, but check my website for updates. The 5 string version is already on there. Glad you like it!
Last night I saw Amadeus and today I woke up and started working on building a stronger foundation in my musical approach. Just took a break and found your video. Thank you for the inspiration ! ..I'll also be returning to my 5-string bass now.
I took piano lessons as a young kid. Then picked up bass by myself. In both cases I spent a lot of time behind the instrument...and kept at it! Only way to learn something!
I believe tablature is a valid method of learning a piece. However, I completely believe that learning music by ear takes your musicianship to another level and that reading notation is an infinitely useful skill. No matter your preference or level of knowledge, it's all about showing and sharing the love of music!
YOU JUST GOT OWN3D! i also love classical musics and also play bass... but never tried something like this your performance is very interesting GOOD JOB!
@armygreen314 Glad you liked it. The song at the end is my own called "We'll Turn the Red Water Blue". It's on Itunes and CD Baby. Take care! Dave Hull
Really, I don't see how this isn't one of the most viewed video, I guess not enough bass players on youtube, I love your version of the song, and in all honesty it's one of the big reasons, i bought a 5 string bass(I had a 4 string)
Thank you! I did study music formally for a long time, but studying music comes in many forms. Some of the best learning comes from performing on stage for years! Thanks to everybody for leaving such great comments- between Myspace and UA-cam I've passed 500,000 views! Keep 'em coming and tell a friend! Dave Hull
Yes. But there are a couple of sections that need some altered fingerings. Keep posted on my website for the 4 string version of the Turkish Rondo sheet music.
@0katerina01 you are able to reach a broader range of notes that can be reach and sometimes you need the extra notes to reach lower notes taht can't be achieve with a 4-string, there are also 6 string basses which are BEADGC tuned. The cello can also contain 5 strings and Guitars can also have 7 strings as well. It's all up to what the muscian needs
Yes, I arranged the piece from the piano music. I'm playing an Ibanez Sound Gear SRX-705 (neck thru). I've been diggin' on Spector basses lately too...
Very impressive young man! I play guitar and bass so I'm well aware of how much strength it takes for my fingers to do that kind of finger tapping or playing the bass, but to fingertap a bass guitar. Wow! Well done.
I use the 5th string to make things easier, but you can work around it. I'm coming out with the printed 4 string version of it soon on the Deha website. Dave Hull
What's really impressive about this, is that his technique is almost completely based on hammer-ons! Great tone, my man :-) Friggin' impeccable timing/coordination, too :-) Be nice to hear you tap something with a groove as wide as the tune at the end of this video.
The song in the credits is "We'll Turn the Red Water Blue", recorded by myself and my drummer friend Tony Montanez. (It's available on various web sites & Itunes).
dude you can really play bass and in a creative way, which is good, so keep it up and put another video of this crazy stuff on here, if you havent already, or els put on somemore

12 years since watching this for the first time, and it still blows my mind.
Your version is absolutely wonderful. I was watching how You play, when I was learning my own version of Turkisch March (but I play it a little bit differently from Your version)

This belongs in the youtube hall of fame. I remember being in high school watching this and being amazed by it
Thanks! I’d be thrilled if there is one. Unfortunately U toob became a dumpster fire of ad driven content years after this was released, and hardly anyone sees it now.

And counting.
Still my favorite bass vid even after all these years.

Thanks for the compliment! I've been playing for a long time...Started piano when I was 3, and bass while in grade school. Thanks for watching!
Wow!!!! What skill, what expressivity, much more than needed to blow you away!!!
Thanks heaps, David.
The song is called Piano Sonata in A Major, specifically the last part- Rondo alla Turca
The song at the end is "We'll Turn the Red Water Blue" written and played by yours truly. (It also happens to be on Itunes).
My bass guitar teacher is teaching me this. And I am so freaking excited because this is beautiful.
It's a combination of everything, using a lot of tapping, sliding and plucking with the thumb. The melody switches strings a lot also. Good luck!
It's an original tune called "We'll Turn The Red Water Blue". It's on Itunes and Rhapsody. Glad you like it!
the moment the word "Mozart" and "Rondo" showed together, I knew this was gonna be good
As a classical music fanatic and bass player, I am speechless. This was a treat. Great work! 5 stars, favorite
wow you are such a very talented guy...i love the way you play mozart in the bass guitar..amazing!!
I first watched this about 12 years ago when I started learning bass. This was a major inspiration for me, showing me just what was possible through hard work and dedication. Thank you
The actual name of the song is Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major, K. 331 (300i), and this piece is just the third movement, Rondo alla Turca. Good luck!
whizz kid indeed, cheers, thank you for this most generous gift, please make most of the goods God has placed in your hands...

Thank you very much! Great job! Was glad to watch your playing! Good luck! Stay tuned!
You are fantastic - great work - thank you for playing this
Thanks, and glad you liked it! The song is "We'll Turn the Red Water Blue" which I recorded a few years ago. It's available on Itunes and other various places for download...

This i my favourite... Congratulations, my friend!
It's a Sound Gear neck-thru model. Not a bad bass if I do say so! (The model is SRX-705 to be specific.)
Yes. But there are a couple of sections that need some altered fingerings. Keep posted on my website for the 4 string version of the Turkish Rondo sheet music.

Amazing !!! Excellent work!
Absolutely loved it. Keep it up. Such great tapping technique, I'd love to see what you could do on a Chapman stick.
@violinman606
Like everyone said, it has 5 strings.
Basses are not only X string.
You even have 6(standard) 7,8,9,12 strings for guitar.
I love the way you don't stick to the timing ashamadely. Like the best, there's a time to get outta time.
To je fakt nářez, jedeš bomby bejku!!
