This is the first time I've had a good opportunity to write music to a scene. I've already turned in my project but after this video I may need to adjust a few things. But this whole process has been really, really fun and inspiring. I would love to be able to do this for a living. Thanks Spitfire and Pinar for this competition and opportunity.
I’m looking forward to hearing all the entries! I started to listen to a couple of them and I was blown away by the quality that I decided to wait until I finished mine… also because I didn’t want to think of how my score lacked in so many ways. I’m looking forward to the experience! Good luck everyone!!
@@snarf1504 Uh... BBCSO upgrade and the new Pro releases for the entire Symphonic Orchestra plus Chamber Strings aren't pads, and if an ensemble library is recorded at Abbey Road, I'll take it because it's still better than most other ensemble libraries. Plus their [ads sound excellent and EVERY OTHER library creator does them as well.
Really liked her synth work on Captain Marvel...the score on Stargirl seems to be just as great (love me some old school action music!) Can't wait to get back home and start working on the scene...
Hey, thank you all so much for giving us the chance to do this! I never knew how much fun it is to score a video clip!! I'd love to do this more often. If possible I'd like to find a way to get more video-only movie clips to score, just for the inspiration. This whole experience is super exciting.
Pinar is so awesome! I had a chance to watch and meet her during a panel a few years ago at a conference here in LA. I think i will work on this scene as well.
I am so excited about this competition. I've never felt more inspired to work my ass off because boy I want those Albion libraries. Good luck to you all.
I'm so keen to do well in this that I've written two attempts already. I've had to make a temp studio too as I'm still not settled in my new house so am working with only one guitar and some libraries.
Thank you very much Pinar for you wonderful insights! I almost wish I didn't see this so as to avoid any replication of what you did but I did get the "feel" of what the cue dictates. Thank you again for your exceptional artistry.
Hi, wow, I really like your work and the way you used the string section.. do you compose directly on your DAW or do you use a Notation software first ?
Hi guys. Your FAQs say we will get a comment on our video once our submission has been seen by a judge. When should I be concerned that I still haven’t had that comment? I’m aware we are not far from the winner announcement and would hate to think my submission was never seen. Thanks all for what you are doing.
So informative - thank you! Question for Pinar - do you orchestrate in your DAW first, or do you write the score into Sibelius or Finale before exporting it to make the mock up?
This will be fun! Quick question - do we need to stick to the old school orchestral theme/instrumentation that runs throughout the series? Or can we run with something more unusual for a one-off feature? Thanks
Same thing for me. As a drummer, I've been starting all this keyboard/VST instruments since about 3 weeks but it was so much fun to do it. I know I won't win but it's always more entertaining to learn on actual projects than just doing theory.
I totally get the sentiment. Just do "you" no one does your personal musical heritage like you do. Score it like it's your own. Think about what you'd want it to sound like.
we already know what all the entries will sound like. And if somebody tries to do something different, they will be ostracized. And no matter what, there will be lots of sour grapes. Shame..
I'm using 8-bit VSTs for a competitive advantage
Dearest Pinar and Spitfire Audio, I would like to say thank you for giving us such an opportunity.

Personally, I find it best to create before seeing others creations, otherwise it's easy to be influenced and to loose ones own uniqueness.
@@mmhcreates Very true!
To do a mentoring session would be worth more than any sound library for sure. Thanks for all the tips.
To be honest I'd be content with JUST getting the experience off competing. Even if I don't get first or runner-up.
She is a great composer, we need more support to these artists like her, and less to those of a one chord in pad for 5 minutes over and over again
You mean replace H. Zimmer?
You just ruined my entry for this one. I guess I'll have to do 2 chords over 5 minutes. 😂
Yeah, she's great. Not who I imagined Spitfire to pick for a competition, given their focus on pad libraries.
huh

I find this to be a great opportunity to learn and explore writing for TV!. Good luck to everyone!.
Thanks so much for hosting this competition!! I love you and am so inspired by your career!
those strings blew me away, such cool runs and everything. so inspiring to see the mock up and also insightful. thanks so much for sharing
Agreed!
Awesome composer! How can she keep calm is intriguing.
Thank you Pinar! This is an absolute masterclass, brilliantly explained. So useful to hear a master's process at work. What an inspiration! 😁

@@r.kapaun01 , I appreciate it! And I also agree.

found it...

This is going to be epic. Yes ready to listen to the entries.
An awesome opportunity again, thanks Spitfire 🤙 Good Luck everybody

Thank you for the depiction, instructive. Althought I saw it after have posted my entry, I think I'm not so wrong in my rendition :)
Just try to score the entire thing with just bassoons
I might have to unofficially do this!
Honestly this sounds like a really fun project.
Master of Trumpets
I am trying to score with just cowbells. :)
Do it
Thanks!!! Greetings from Argentina!
I love how she explained how she breaks up her workflow, I inadvertently did the same thing with my submission.. Great video
Thank you for sharing Pinar!
Wow I definitely was surprised to hear her say she had less than a day for that scene, took me two weeks for the competition hahaha! Props!
Pinar, what are the section sizes of the strings and brass, if you wouldn't mind answering?
So insightful fo my orchestral Instrumental I'm working on. Thanks so much for storytelling and music leading the way in that. Thank you!
Awesome. Thank you for sharing those insights. 🙂
You know when you start writing a cue and you think 'yeah!' then after a while you think 'maybe not' then you get writers block lmao....
Everytime 😁
@@Andrew_Reno lol yup
It's the music gods getting mad at you for making better music than them...Laughing out loud!
That is hard to hit all those points and make sure everything is running nice; she is an amazing composer.
Thanks for sharing. I am very excited about this competition.
Awesome work.
Wonderful! I'm just dipping a toe in the water of scoring. I'm curious how you determine a tempo for the overall clip
Anyone know of a good CHIPTUNE Sample library? Asking for a friend...
what...too soon???
Really looking forward to this!
Super cool! Can't wait to try
Ok, now I feel kind of nervous about my entry 😂🤦♂️ omg…
I look forward to recording nothing but 8bit music over this
7:47 Any guesses on strings used here? Or maybe even a personally sampled library?
++ I am wondering the same thing! Especially the runs that sound slurred together.
Yes please someone has to know. It must all from spitfire's library, but this strings man wow
My 2 guesses would be either Project SAM's Colours: Adaptive Runs or Orchestral Tools: Orchestral String Runs
I'm comforted in knowing that I pinpointed the same cues as Pinar, even if her score is massively superior to mine 😂 😂

Appreciate for the tips
Thank you for sharing your tips!
Hi Pinar, Awesome score.
Oh boy. Why did I notice this only now. Well... there's still a little time left!
So many awesome entries. Lucky I got to finish my own try-out. Best of luck people!

in less than a DAY?!?!? I gotta step it up LOL

my guess is directly on the DAW

i think you can do what you want regarding instrumentation. it mentions this in the spitfire video about this comp
They said do you. Originality. Orchestra, synths, personal recordings...
WOW WOW WOW
She's a composer's composer.
F in the chat for Joey
I have now lost all hope to win but gonna enter just for fun
That's the spirit :-) I feel the same way, but ya give it a try and hey it's great practice if anything and you learn along the way.
