    Destin, I sincerely hope that a large company, perhaps Google, picks up your idea, doesn't steal it, pays you for it, and let's you work on it, to make it happen in a situation like Google maps. Imagine if you could not only walk around areas in google maps, but hear them as well.
    I think this project is an excellent idea and I hope it gets **HUGE**

    That was so much fun! I'm a 64 year old rheumatoid arthritic. Sliding down that mountain was something I'm pretty sure I'll never experience first hand. Yet, I found myself laughing out loud, experiencing the ride with the rider. AND I can do it again, without the hike up! Thanks guys! Subscribed!

    do you think you coluld do a 360° video with the 3D sound to get extra extra reality

    • @flobb91
      @flobb91 7 років тому +51

      that wouldnt work. the 3D sound only works because it is recorded with two microphones. they are positioned where the ears of the "cameraman" are. if you would rotate in a 360° video the audi would not rotate with you. this would destroy the illusion

    • @dustinwrye
      @dustinwrye 7 років тому +46

      Unless you used an array of microphones. Sounds could be programmed to switch/blend microphones based off of which camera angle was being viewed.

      Outside Stuff we need a binaural microphone

    • @talltony7290
      @talltony7290 7 років тому +12

      Outside Stuff Yeh it's possible with extra equipment and software. UA-cam 360 videos didn't have 3D audio

    • @Leonardokite
      @Leonardokite 7 років тому +7

      flobb91 You are correct. It would be messed up.
      It does work in VR but then the environment is synthetic and can adapt to head movement and the point that one's head is aiming to adjust the audio. VR like the Oculus is pretty amazing.
      Considering that, it may be possible to have an array of microphones and simulate the 360 environment with sound. Of course that would require horrendous bandwidth to stream.

  • @pallinger0513

    Not sure if anyone else is experiencing this, but the intro sound was pretty harsh on the headset. It sounded like the bass was being swapped between the left and right channels over and over producing a buffered sound.

    Happened upon this channel because I was at the park in front of my house one day and saw a man wearing all blue jumping off of the small concrete bridge, climbing back up and repeating the process whilst a tripod camera recorded his actions. I thought to myself, this must be a really crazy person, or he's probably making a video for youtube. I searched, proving difficult without context but nonetheless, success. The park was Delano Park in quaint little Decatur, Alabama. The source video, from an unbelievably awesome channel called Smarter Every Day. The video poster for rainbow factory video on this channel is the creator of Smarter Every Day, and his videos are an immersive and quite interesting experience, to say the least, but provide you with a down to earth explanation for some of the world's most interesting subject matter. All that I have seen and learned have been definitely time well spent.

    Yes, hearing the sound of the venue along with your desired content. Just recently I had checked out some older westerns from the 50s+60s, and quite often I can hear the soundstage echo when the scene is supposedly outside. I guess this is a function of better sound retrieval quality. This is also present in many audio recordings even from the 50s. RCA red label recordings of the CSO, Fritz Reiner recorded with left, center, and right mics (reissue CDs) mixed and remastered by the original crew, Wilma Cozart Fine et al. Didn't know they could pick up such detail in the mid '50s! 👍👍

      360º 3D video recording equipment is very expensive.

    • @LukeDruid
      @LukeDruid 6 років тому +1

      than you would have to record 3D audio and also somehow sinc it with the 3D video. Could be possible, right?

    • @timothyzorn1534
      @timothyzorn1534 6 років тому

      No, that's not possible. You can record 3D video from one point of view and have a binaural audio recording facing that same direction. However, you cannot record a 360º 3D video and have surround sound audio with just (two) binaural microphones. The audio recording would be facing one specific direction, so when you rotated your point of view, the audio would no longer match the direction you're facing.
      You could record surround sound with 360º 3D video, but it would no longer be binaural and you would need a very specialized player to match the audio direction with the way your head is facing.
      Also, you cannot have true VR with recorded video (i.e. you cannot tilt your head or lean forward or anything with the headset on - you can only rotate) - you would need a computer-generated experience for any true VR, especially to have true binaural audio which matched the direction you're facing (look up The FOO Show).

    • @timothyzorn1534
      @timothyzorn1534 6 років тому

      I think the best you can hope for at this point in time is 180º 3D video (LucidCam?) with binaural audio, having the camera and audio facing the same direction. It still would not work very well in VR, but you could play it on an ultra-widescreen 3D monitor and listen to the audio with headphones, keeping your head facing forward.

    Hey Destin. Sorry if I'm misspelling your name. You have no idea how much these videos help and how cool they are to me. I am hearing impaired and for many years I did not wear hearing aids due to lack of funding so I spent many years missing a lot of sounds of nature and ambience. I now have hearing aids that connect to Bluetooth and act as headphones. They also amplify the ambience and subtle sounds that you record in these videos. I am loving being able to listen to things most people take for granted. Thank you for what you're doing and keep up the good work.
