- Sandra and Andres performing "Als't Om de Liefde Gaat" ("When It's All About Love"), the Dutch entry at the 1972 Eurovision Song Contest.
I realize I'm probably in the minority here, but while this is certainly a cheerful, happy number with a fittingly energetic performance by both Sandra and Andres, it somehow leaves me cold personally, and I find its 4th place kind of overrated. But that's just me...
8 months since my last comment, and this song is the default one that appears in my head when there's no other tune there. And that jacket and trousers just appear as a luminous green glow whenever I'm anywhere dark. I suppose you could call them emergency flares.
Canción muy alegre! Descanse en paz Sandra Reemers.
Pat Benatar and Jimmy Page in a duet, superb. I still want that suit for parties.
Love the positive energy
Love Sandra brilliant as usual.
Good Euro Entry from a Popular Dutch duet.
the audience!!!!
They clap along with the song, it must have been a little bit unusual in those days, I have never heard it from ESC 1970 and older =0
I like this- it's everything an ESC song should be- cheesy, catchy and happy!
When they were still singing things like this on eurovision?
Requiem In Paecem Sandra Reemers.🙁😢
Love this song! A damn catchy tune!
From certain angles the chap reminds me of Jimmy Page (of Led Zeppelin). I think that suit would be great for a 70s fancy dress party- the flares and lapels don't even need exaggerating in the name of irony!
Sandra Reemer's song from 1976 is better. Actually that one is great!
Even if it was a bit overrated I like it. Europe sometimes needs such silly songs about "how love makes you're going crazy". Still good performance of both Sandra and Andreas.
Tasosk3 while I don't think this is too good of a song then I found some other songs like I giorni dell'arcobaleno,Beg,steal or borrow and Nur die Liebe läßt uns leben much more overrated than this one.
Yes, tasos, that is just you. Or at least definitely not me, because I absolutely love this song. What doesn't move you doesn't move you but this moves me for sure! A really infectiously cheerful song and performance, it always makes me feel warm as opposed to cold. How's that for a counterbalance? Whenever I hear this song, I can't help be swept away by its upbeat vibe.
Sweet and happy pre Abba Abbayish song
Abba just arrived in 1974.....
@@scorpioman1964Yes, they existed in early 1972, but not quite under that name, and had just had a hit in Sweden with People Need Love at this time. Great song as well :)
Good point, the first two chords (on the "na na..." part) are literally the same as Waterloo, but a different rhythm!
@@IThinkYouLookLarvely I know they had a little succes in The Netherlands before 1974. Also Bjorn with his Hootenanny Singers had hits too here. They even made a dutch version of Gabrielle.
An excellent song (this and Norway were the only good duets of that year)
though the outfits are worthy of a Barbara Dex.
Finland sent a very good duet and an unforgettable entry
