bought the same motor but short shaft in 2018 got it on a 15ft sea nymph bass boat got a top speed of 25mph by myself in the boat . the peace of mind factor is beyond awesome paid just over 2300 free shipping to my door . great little motor
I haven't got the chance to put alot of hours on the motor. I'm still pleased with the motor at the moment. It did have a critical issue at the end of last year causing the entire motor to be trashed at roughly 8hrs. Mechanic said best he could tell the oil pump had failed right at the end of me running it last. Warranty completely covered rebuild, no questions asked. Although I'm irritated I had to receive a rebuild and not just a new motor. I am still pleased with the motor though, I would buy it again just in a short shaft 😁
@@lchawks25 I just picked up a 2012 15hp Evinrude. Haven't taken it out yet. I've been running a 1979 6hp Evinrude for years without a problem other then the fact it's getting too slow. 14mile with just me and fishing gear. 9 with my girlfriend. My little boat should haul along with a 15hp. Its rated to 20hp but I don't have a trailer I just put it on the roof of my Ute and therefore thought a 20hp would be to heavy to be taking off and on all the time. 3 grand for a new 15hp Evinrude here in Australia so I'll see if I get a new one
Yeah I do have to say they are quite a bit heavier than a 2 stroke especially to be packing it very often. It's crazy how alot of motors are just detuned or a swapping out a carburetor.
Tell about the Force outboard you had. I have a 1980 Sea King by Chrysler 15 which is basically the same motor but less complicated. It usually takes 3 pulls to start when cold, but starts up always easy after. Sorry you had a bad experience with that one. At least there was no oil pump to go out. 😁
If you had it level with the fin and boat with the moter you would go a bit faster I bet, the only reason I know this is because I used to have two boats, a 12 foot v haul, and I have my Alumacraft T-14S and my 14 gets up to speed a little quick cause the moter dont hang low on my 14 like it did my 12 but I sold my 12 cause I like my 14 a lot better can hold a shit ton more weight and 2 extra people so the 12 had to go. But I really do like the evinrudes
