A French man was sentenced to death by an Indonesia court on May 20, 2019, after he was found guilty of smuggling drugs.
Prosecutors said Felix Dorfin, 35, was caught in possession of 3kg (6.6 lbs) of drugs at the airport in Lombok, Indonesia.
The country is known to have some of the world’s strictest drug laws.
Since his arrest in September 2018, Dorfin has been in detention except for two weeks after he escaped and was on the run before being recaptured.

If there's been executions before yet some people still do it, then the law isn't very deterrent, is it?
@@eruelsantos3695 if it’s one or 2 isolated cases a year, yes, it’s very effective.
How many cases of drugs smuggling to you see in Europe or America a year?
Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore doesn’t see double digits ever. Singapore maybe once in a couple of years, despite being one of the world busiest port and air hub. And Malaysia and Indonesian has wide territorial range more difficult to police, but cases are low.
So yes, great deterrent.
