- For obvious reasons, the Green Bay Packers are heading into the 2023 NFL season with more eyes on them than they’ve had in a very long time. But while the 2023 Preseason for the GB Packers has honestly looked promising, especially with the Jordan Love highlights rolling out with all 3 games, the offense Packers HC Matt LaFleur might plan to run this season could be a completely new approach for the Packers.
To start, this Packers offense under OC Adam Stenavich is already returning a more than proven run game with Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon. And with this presence, the new look WR room for the packers headlined by Christian Watson & Romeo Doubs, now has more versatility than ever by adding young pieces in Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Malik Heath, returning Samori Toure, and even the rookie TEs in Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft. But most importantly, if Jordan Love continues to thrive the way he has, most recently vs the Seahawks this preseason, this team could be a lot better than most expect.
But that could also be due in large part to the Packers defense. Because containing the fire power on this side of the ball in guys like Kenny Clark, Devonte Wyatt & Preston Smith up front, De’Vondre Campbell, Quay Walker & Rashan Gary in the middle, and of course Jaire Alexander, Rasul Douglas and company at the top, Packers DC Joe Barry is expected to fair much better in 2023, only aiding more to new QB1 in GB, Jordan Love.

It could be bad. Worst case, they might be only 16-1 in regular season. Of course I am hoping for better. Obviously they will beat the Jets in the SuperBowl, but everyone knows that already.

I am so hyped for this team. As a lifetime Packer fan, i can remember the last time we've had such untapped potential in our entire roster. AROD leaving was truly the end of an era. Time for a fresh start!
At least for me the discussion of that guy who said “ i need more money because my ego can’t take that (fill in the QB name) makes more money than I do now (3 separate times in the last 5 years) and I know i take up 60% of the cap but its STILL the teams fault i have no help” leading to “I want out but Ill take a pay cut so the Jets can build around me” SHOULD END NOW. Favre’s manufactured departure was annoying but considering the organization booted the greatest player in team history for a guy thought by almost everyone as a product of a pass happy system and to hand him the keys only to repeat Favre like nonsense with the addition of greed and a larger dose of selfishness any respect for his accomplishments here should be tossed out the window.

As a Packers fan, we're mostly looking for growth & progress in the right direction. A winning record would be great! But realistically being such an insanely young team mistakes will be made.. Seeing clean communication and having a solid game plan is a must. Will likely be very hot at times and very cold on others. GPG
Seeing Packers preseason Love only averaged like 9:yards per pass …one of lowest in the league. Safe short passes. Against better QBs MLF will have to press Love to get it downfield with precision. 4th year in league he cannot be throwing errant deep balls. QB 2 and QB 3 have shown they can so the honeymoon won’t be forever. We will see what Love has by mid season.
I trust this insanely young offense more than I trust Joe Barry. It's mesmerizing that he has a job still. Cautiously optimistic about the offense though.

Prior to preseason I was predicting 8-9, give or take a couple. Now I'd bump it up to 10-7, with a fair chance of winning the division. Super excited for this season!

Two best teams in the NFC North. The other two teams have ridiculously bad defenses. Vikings and Bears can score yes, but they can’t stop anyone either. That causes problems when you face teams with elite defenses. Lions looked great against the Chiefs. Gotta get Gibbs more touches though. You guys will be scary when Jamo returns.
First game of the season went nearly perfect for the Packers. Let’s just hope that they can keep it up because they were facing the Bears after all and it’s not hard to beat them.

I really believe it comes down to Barry and the defense and MLFs play calling and scheming. If the defense from last season shows up. They won’t be very good. If the defense can stop the run and consistently get off the field then they have potential to be very good. I could seriously see them winning anywhere between 5-6 games or 10-11 games depending on health and defensive performance.
Lifelong GB fan here that completely agrees with your take. It’s all on Barry & the defense to hold it down while this super young offense grows up. Defense will determine what this teams record will be. Regardless of the record this team should be entertaining &, at times, frustrating.
YES! exactly. Stop talking about the offense like it has been the issue. Defense has been a huge problem and I seen it in preseason all over again. Unable to stop the run undisciplined and it strips the offense of its run game
@@bryanpeters5577 Well the offense, Rodgers in particular. Struggled in playoff games when it counted. The past few times GB was in the playoffs I remember the defense getting turnovers and stops late in the game that gave the ball back to Rodgers and the offense and they'd go 3 and out and it would cost them.
The defenses biggest problem is playing too much soft shell cover 2 at the wrong times. Soft shell cover 2 just gets picked apart by tight ends, slot backs and check downs the whole way down the field. It keeps the defense on the field and tires them out, they lose at time of possession. That coupled with the defense not effectively stopping the run game they just get exhausted and can't get off the field or generate great pass rushes in obvious passing situations. They need to let the corners play more physical on the receivers and the safeties be more active in the run game early so the D-Line and generate more push at the line of scrimmage and the backers can play more downhill. Then that soft shell cover 2 will be more effective when they no longer have play action passes at their disposal.
This is my take as well. If the defense can somehow defend the run better I think this team could win 10-11 games. Unfortunately, I'm not very hopeful because I have no confidence in Barry as DC and the Packers have been struggling against the run for years.
@@dustinrustick8450 Well, late in the season the defense turned it on and started to play well. They also started playing more press man coverage on the outside and getting more physical in the secondary. If that defense can show up for the whole season then they should be good. They have plenty of talent. Honestly, talent wise I think they could be a top defense like the Niners or Jets. Gary, LVN and Smith pass rushing, Clark, Slaton and Wyatt stopping the run game. Campbell and Walker playing fast at backer. JA and Rasul are as talented as any corners in the league. Safety is weak spot but maybe Savage will bounce back. There really is no excuse for this team to not have a good defense other than the coordinator not scheming properly. Barry was on the hot seat this offseason and hopefully the defenses performance down the stretch was him figuring out some things and that's why they stuck with him.
I'm excited about this team. Both the o-line and d-lines look solid.
The RB room is a lock. The D has alot of potential with studs on every level. Love finishes with 4200 yds. 31 tds. 11 ints

I think both the offensive and defensive line depth is better this year than it has been in a while. It seems like Green Bay is hitting a decent average on recent draft picks.
Love won’t have to play that well to meet Rodgers’ average performance last year. They will be starting 3 new specialists which can’t be overlooked and will probably cost them at least 1 close game. I see 8 or 9 wins and a shot at the 3rd wild card spot in December, with the general arrow of the organization pointing up for the future
I’m going with 8 wins. They have potential, of course, but nothing proven at QB, TE, WR. That’s huge.

GB Packer shareholders here. Going into preseason we had low expectations. Very low. 6-11 low.
But after watching Love show a shocking amount of poise and good decision making, we’re wondering if we might hit 9-8.
Regardless, we’re not expecting a playoff appearance.

You can tell that Love got a ton of "know how" from Rodgers. He looks identical to Rodgers of his mannerizm of dropping back and flicking passes. Compliment to both Love and Rodgers..
For this year I don't expect too much. But, the way this team has been restructured this off season, it looks promissing that the Packers could become one of the dominant teams in the NFC for a couple of years again.

We’re going to see LaFleur’s offense. It’s clear watching the preseason in GB and the limited play of Rodgers in NY that the past 4 years was the Aaron Rodgers hero offense. I feel bad for Jets fans because as hard as I say the let down will be, there’s no real words to describe it. It’s easy enough to see the Packers winning 10 games based on what the preseason looked like, but we know the regular season is a different beast. It’s a cop out answer but I just hope Love show’s development, there’s going to be a few stinkers but I just want to see stability and growth
Thats exactly it. Under Rodgers we didnt see LaFleurs actual offense. We saw the version of the offense Rodgers wanted. Rodgers made it no secret he wanted the ball in his hands more times then not. And Aaron force fed Adams to get Davonte his stats while Jordan will take what the defense gives him and as we seen in preseason Jordan isnt afraid to tuck it and run. Which in itself adds a new wrinkle to the offense.

Veteran QBs ALWAYS adapt offenses to their strengths. “Rodgers always wants the ball in his hand”- packers have been one of the most balanced offenses in the league over the last four years. It might be a bumpy ride at times but I think this team is going to raise some eyebrows around the league once they hit their stride.
I’ll keep expectations low and say we finish no worse than maybe 6-11 to 9-8 but could see an 11-6 season. Just depends on how love is able to connect with Watson, doubs, and reed along with the TE’s. Defense should be very good if not scary good/great. Everything depends on Love and the offense but am excited with this team! Go pack Go!

Im a lifelong packer fan and i think we will be alright at worst, and a sneaky playoff team at best. Althought I'm sad to see so many of my all-time favorite players leave these past few years, I definitely am still excited to see whats next for us! and hell, even if we suck at least there are a lot of good teams in the AFC to watch for years to come, so as a football fan ill still be able to get some entertainment from that.

To think the next franchise QB for the Packers is only 9 years old right now is kind of crazy.
Love will inherit ownership of the Bears week 1 and will go on a terror thru the league with a handfule of flat games they look like rookies where they lose in games they can't close out or a few bog losses too, but they will be solid most weeks and win I would say 10 and 7 to finish the year with a potential Wild Birth at 2nd place behind Detroit who narrowly wins the division.

The Packers have made the right moves, but it will take a season for them to come together. Anything around .500 (8 or 9 wins) is a victory for year 1. I think that they will be more interesting to watch than some people imagine.

Love's got a problem with any pass over 20 yards. He's never thrown a deep ball catching the reciever in stride. Reciever ALWAYS has to slow down or stop to catch the ball. He better fix that quick.

I'm very happy LaFleur will get to call the offence instead of Rodgers. When he fails to get Coach of the Year again (because media ignores tiny Green Bay) it will be even more of a travesty than it was when he took a toxic 6-9-1 team and made it a healthy 13-3 team instantly. Rodgers did NOT do that.

I'd love to see LeFleur get some recognition. I will say regarding 2019, Gute really remade the locker room leadership that year with a HEAVY roster tweak including the almost entirely revamped linebacker and safety groups. Let's not forget, that offense in 2019 was not very good yet.

Without a good quarterback a football team is lost. With a great quarterback a good team can be great. We will see if becoming the
