I'm in line at Canadian Tire, and the small guy in front of me, has this most amazing Bruins Leather Jacket on. Really, you had to see this thing. It was an intricate work of art, unlike anything I'd ever seen. I may be a Habs fan, but I'm a hockey fan too and before I knew it, I found myself looking for the right words to make a confession out loud. I said... "THAT, is THE nicest, Hockey jacket, I have ever seen, in my entire life." The man turned around and it was Stan Jonathan!!! Of course I recognize him, I said "STAN!!! So nice to see you! Wow, that jacket's beautiful!" Stan points at my Habs hat and says "That hat makes me see red!!!" LOL "I bet it does!" I said sheepishly as we both had a good laugh. Once he paid for his items, he grabbed a bag in each hand, turned to me and politely asked me... "do you want to go?" as if he was ready to drop the 2 bags and throw down. lol Thanks Stan! I've always been a fan and I'm sure you could hear it in my voice. I always like sharing that story with hockey fans. You're a legend!

My first game was 1977 in Boston Garden. Those Bruins players were characters. In 78 I went to a game Bruins vs Sabres Johnathon got a fight right in front of us. Crazy
I loved Stan Jonathan and John Wensink. With Don Cherry, the Bruins of that time period played tough and would grind it out, but didn't have the offensive talent as the Cherry teams of a decade earlier (Orr, Esposito, Hodge, etc...). If other teams tried to f__k around and play cheap or take runs at their skill guys, though, this team would absolutely beat the balls out of everyone. Jonathan, Wensink, O'Reilly, Cashman, Secord, etc...the list goes on and on.
The two of us ''almost'' had a meeting on the streets of Boston. You don't know this but Boston Cabs have a warning system that the passenger's can't see. And a lot of us carry guns. This older black taxi driver had his warning lights on and I stopped on Boylston St to see what was happening. I see you and this older guy getting out of cab. Oh No...fuck, its Chris Nilan. You ended up shaking the cabbie's hand and you both got back in. You did the right thing
Man, I remember those Hamilton and later St Kitt's FinCup Teams, led by Dale McCourt, Al Secord was there too, Rick Seiling I think, Bob/Tub Neely was it? Danny Shearer (knee injuries ended hockey for him), goalies were Walmsley and, hmmm... Won the Memorial Cup.. What the heck was their crazy, coach's name? ... I forget that too... But he also coached Canada's Piestany Punch-UP team... Coach had a bad rep, and took a bad rap for that, although the punch-up wasn't the coach's fault, not the way I heard it... Theo Fleury, Brendan Shanaham, Jim Sandlak was it?... What's that other guys name... played for Canadiens and Colarodo... Mike Keane?

Loved this two of the greatest of all time
Cape Cod pond hockey got me here. God I love hockey!!!!!!
I was at the Garden when Jonathan fought Bouchard. I never saw so much blood. I learned a valuable lesson that night. Never underestimate your opponent.
This great to watch Chris. Growing up watching you and Stan was the best. I loved it when you joined the B’s. Fucking hated you with the Habs. Keep up the podcasts
IMHO...Pound for pound, Stan Jonathan was the toughest hockey fighter I've ever seen. As my father said, "When Jonathan hits people, they stay hit."
4 star interview again.
Hi Chris, your coach at NU Ferny Flaman toughest Bruin that ever laced them up.
Coach’s choice 1958 “best fighter” for starters.
My first game was 1977 in Boston Garden. Those Bruins players were characters. In 78 I went to a game Bruins vs Sabres Johnathon got a fight right in front of us. Crazy
Not only was Stan the Man in Boston he was also the Man in Peterborough, I remember gym class at P.C.V.S. !
Two warriors in a great fight. Loved they way they played game as well. Now the game is so soft now.
Pound for pound NHL fighters Stan Jonathon and Gary Howitt
George Mcphee was a bad ass for a little guy
Mike Keane?
Bert Templeton
Also they had Ron Roscoe and Dave (Golden Gloves) Norrish
What made stans name was him against Bouchard great fight you surprised him with that left hand!!!! Wow your name was made right there?!! Mr Bouchard was never the same after that!! Good luck solid winger this is from a montrealer!??!! Later
