Frank, I enjoyed watching the video. A quick comment...the low idle is a quick fix; check the IAC value, which should read 10-15% to ensure there's enough air for the engine to breathe at idle. You shouldn't have to connect it to a laptop to get the idle rpm adjusted, but a laptop certainly will give you much more latitude for fine-tuning....but the Holley Terminator X handheld should get you there. You're always welcome to call me with any tuning questions. And don't forget to hit the throttle good and hard in your next video so we hear it "bark". -- Jim Inglese

Idle air control is over-compensating for the temperature. Definitely not a big deal. Judging purely by sound, idle target should be up around 850-900. That 600-650 won't cut it with the cam you have in the cold. The charge is too dense... especially for an ignition map that can't compensate.
Hay Frank it's Neil , stackers always have a problem with cold starts in the winter, it can make the difference of how it feeds the fuel to the engine. Chock system is different than stackers, as they can be tuned to cold weather. The temp has a lot to do with it. You are inside of the problem my friend. I was beginning to wonder where you were, Frankie. Now we know. That EFI stack setup is the bee's knees, brother. Super sexy! A thing of beauty and a joy to behold. I'm hoping to talk you into bringing the car into the school shop so my auto tech kids can drool over it. Two things on the starting/running issue... 1) The ECM does have an adaptive learning strategy so it will improve with run time. It will store data in the RAM as you drive it. Also, remember that learned data will be lost whenever you disconnect the battery. 2) Those 8 throttles are letting in 30-degree air and that air is not warm enough to help the incoming air vaporize the fuel coming out of the injectors very well. Keep us in the loop as things get tweaked. Congratulations, brother.
It's running sure lean. It does need to be driven but this is the wrong time of year for that. Hope a good tune will work out some of the issues. any of your students do mapping? digital tuning?

@@BanginGearsGarage I teach at a college, part-time and they had a Mustang dyno but pulled it out because of the liability (mechanical and safety).

Old car nut that I am and you know that I will always will tell you the truth.
I dont believe you pump the throttle before starting with EFI systems. They dont have accelerator pumps to richen the mix on startup.
You are correct, and I'm running super lean I'm adding more air to the mix and that's the reason I'm having issues at start up.
The tuning just needs to be finished, that's all. It isn't getting enough fuel during cranking, not enough after start, and not enough fuel in the fuel table for cold temp enrichment. With a little more tuning, it will run running perfectly.

The engine is probably too lean at idle or too rich depending on the air he needs...so you might have to do a little ECU tuning and calibration if the engine was tuned only for running into the dyno

Why are you pumping the throttle before you start an EFI??
I see some backfire through the throttle blades. Maybe running lean? The EFI system should automatically run it rich when it’s cold
Because I didn't know better and was so used to starting it the old way. But thr car has been tuned and running great.
