Met Hill Billy at the Toronto Pearson Airport around 1986 at the security screening to board the plane. The nicest guy you would ever meet. He gave me a t shirt and I was a huge wrestling fan.
Jim is such a nice guy. Everyone else shoots on other wrestlers from the time and don't hold back. All of Hillbilly Jim's videos are like this, "Savage? Well, Randy had a reputation, but I always thought he was a nice guy. He was always nice to me." "Mcmahon? Well, Vince has some 'qualities' to him, but I always thought he was a nice guy. I heard the rumors, but he was always nice to me." "Hogan? Well some people had problems with him, but Terry was always nice to me." Goes to show you. If you are a nice guy to people, they will be nice back. It also doesn't hurt to be 6'7" and weigh 285 lbs.
I always heard that Rick Rude was a good Man from people everywhere . Was told he was easy going and very kind family Man but don't piss him off because he was a legitimate real life bad ass if he was pushed.
Rick was a legit tough guy. He used to be a bouncer in MN with Barry Darsov, Hawk, Animal, and John Nord in some very rough bars. From what I've heard he was one of those bouncers that gave you one warning. If you ignored it, he'd beat the f**k out of you while throwing you out. I think Animal and Barry said Rick was the toughest of them, and he had no fear.
I was working out at superfitness in Toronto and one one of my buddies said the wwf wrestlers were in town and I heard that they would do workouts at the location i was at ..i was doing lying Tricep extension and had 2 ..45 lb plates on the curl bar and all of a sudden I heard a deep voice saying you mind me stepping in on a few sets and noticed it was Rick Rude ..i said sure and I was almost doing my max ..Rick started with my weight and banged off 20 reps and then started slapping on weight ..i was about to strip the weight he put on to do my set (by now there was 4 x45 lb plates and 2 x 25lb plates ..he said keep it on and I'll spot you ..i laughed and said your going to get a bicep workout ..he drove me to do 6 reps and with him spotting me i banged out the six and he made me work for it..hes final set was incredible he slapped on 3 x45 on each side and banged out 10 reps ..He was a very strong dude
I believe your story partner. I saw Rude wrestle in Austin and afterward while all the "faces" like Brutus the Barber Beefcake shit past us, he stopped to sign autographs and thanked parents for bringing us kids. I have also heard he was super strong. He obviously had a great physique, but I have heard he was much stronger than he looked, and he could knock guys out with one punch.
Rick Attard....I believe you bro. Rick was a champion arm wrestler in Minnesota and the biggest rib the boys always pulled in the bars to shake down tough guys was to get the biggest SOB in the joint to arm wrestle. Rude would just sit in a corner waiting for the next victim. He never lost either... according to all who have seen it in person.
I don't remember the year, but WrestleMania was held at Ford Field in Detroit. The WWF held an event of some kind at a mall across the river, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. I passed by the area where the event was taking place, and I saw Hillbilly Jim there. I would have loved a chance to meet him, but he looked busy, and I didn't want to bother him.
Loved Hillbilly Jim as a wrestler but he was also a killer commentator too. My favorite was him co hosting All American Wrestling with Mean Gene. He’s got my HOF vote!
Rude was underrated and underappreciated. Look. Physique. Mic skills. Athleticism. Top 10 all time easy. Should have and could have carried a strap for a promotion and draw. Just wasnt enough of a backstage politician and Snake to be a #1 guy. A legendary heel.
Almost certain he was; however, he put in the work to go with it. Hence, the phenomenal results. Steroids alone, or with half-assed gym routines to go with them, won’t produce results anything close to RRR’s physique.
Still no clue how he's in the hall of fame. He wrestled very few years. At first he got the small rub from Hogan. After that he was a jobber to King Kong Bundy (who's yet to be in the hall of fame).
Love Big Jim, he comes off as authentic good guy. Rest in Peace, Ravishing Rick Rude - one of my childhood favorites and a true f*cking bad ass.
Hillbilly Jim retired when he was still quite young, and that's why he's in great shape. He didn't hang around beyond his prime.

These Hillbilly Jim clips are GREAT!

Rick NEVER hurt me in WCW!! ALWAYS took care of me. So FREAKING nice
He never hurt me either in WCW. But then again, I was sitting in the stadium seats watching the matches from a distance.

It wasn't Ford field it was the Pontiac silver dome back in the 80s .Ford field didn't come about until 2002 when it opened.
Hillbilly is great! Thanks Hannibal

hill billy jim will always be a legend and looks great for his age
The tougher the dude, the better he took care of you.
Hillbilly Jim legit seems like one of the nicest guys in wrestling. I'd love to drink some beers and eat brisket with that guy!
Met him here in Nashville. Very down home polite guy.
SO good to see Hillbilly Jim!!!
It's me, it's me, it's Hill Bill E.
Rick Rude was one bad ass man, but he was also a good guy who loved the sport
Devon, you da man! You know what I'm talking about!
Christ Jesus watch over you Jim. Thx for childhood memories. I took your action figure to Mexico city with shiek 1986 ... lol.. take care.
Rick Rude is my favorite wrestler of all time.
I thought it was King Kong Bundy?
@@theblueoctopus4494 lol he's cool too :)

He did carry the World Class Wrestling Federation Heavyweight Championship with Percy Pringle aka Paul Bearer as his manager!!
Rick Rude( RIP) had one of the best physiques in wrestling. If he was on steroids, he didn’t look like it.
Almost certain he was; however, he put in the work to go with it. Hence, the phenomenal results. Steroids alone, or with half-assed gym routines to go with them, won’t produce results anything close to RRR’s physique.
Hillbilly Jim sounds pretty cool
Cassette Thief Rick Rude .... yep doesn't have the same sizzle as Ravishing Rick Rude ... lol.
Btw. Hillbilly is great. My Mom had a little crush on him. Lol
Sammy Wrestler was at the same bar in Mobile, Al and said Hillbilly Jim was a man of the people
Howard Stern
I never noticed how much Jim winks. Was this always a thing & I just never paid attention as a kid or did something happen?
RIP Rude
Hillbilly Jim is super nice guy
How is it that a 6 7 rawboned big guy like this never wore a championshipbelt
You can tell a man from Minnesota but cant tell him much....
Atta boy Hill 😉
First Mark here 😂🙌
Nothing wrong with that.
mana yoon not at all.. lol it started to become a thing for me so if I’m first I always post it.
Rude should have been champ after Hogan
Hilbilly DDP
I’d like to hear more Wrestlers talking about Rick Rude kicking Warriors ass in the locker room somewhere in Georgia . Ric flair talked about it some.
Jesse Jones Ric Flair wasn’t even there when Warrior and Rude were in wwf lol
I thought Rick Rude beat Warrior in the locker room in Philadelphia.

his gimmick for that time period was great hill billy jim everyone knows who he is
Vince McMahon's Hall of Fame is a freaking joke. Don't take it serious. It's kayfabe.
