Yes, he totally is, omg, he's the sweetest and best husband ever and I felt a bit bad for him with how Amy reacted to such a beautiful gift as I know she said she'll treasure it and wanted to give him a goodbye but her reaction still came off as a bit ungrateful and I felt especially bad for Jake because of the super cruel coma trick and because of everything he was giving up in the finale while Amy had career success and Boyle got a new partner, I just wanted Jake to get a win.

You know how, whenever there's a flashback to a past event, they all seem to have moustaches or something like that? The writers are making fun of shows that do that.
As much as I adore the show and Peraltiago, quite a bit of the finale left me kinda down as I wanted Jake to have a happy ending in every respect, like the other parents on the show as they didn't have to give up anything and got to thrive in their careers and be confident, whereas Jake had to give up so much. I totally understand why he did it as Mac means more to him than work and he wants to support Amy rising in her career but it's a shame that he had to sacrifice so much when she succeeded when he was already a way better Dad than Roger and would be loads better no matter what. The coma bit came off as really unfair and way too far as well, imo, especially with how incredibly selfless and kind Jake is and everything he was giving up and because he didn't really get a win and like with the fake therapist bit, I just really think it was way over the line and unnecessarily cruel and unfair. It's a shame that Amy almost immediately pointed out something that she wanted to correct with the beautiful binder necklace too.
It's the weird emasculation of male leading characters in Hollywood as of late. No matter how heartfelt they try to make it, this was a poor, subpar ending for the main character. I'm on season 3 now and I'm dropping the show. I'm not going to invest all that time just to be mad at how it ended.
I don't know, I wouldn't say that I agree with your point about male leading characters but it is a pretty bittersweet ending as while I found it moving and am all for empowered female characters and strong working mothers and stay at home Dads in TV and real life, a part of me wishes that Jake hadn't given up so much as he definitely deserved a totally happy ending like the other parents got. Factors such as Boyle's new partner, the cruel heist tricks played on Jake in S7 and S8 and the slightly uneven ending for Jake and Amy made me want better for Jake and sitcom women from other shows, especially as Amy had already been portrayed as so much smarter, more capable and accomplished than him and Jake was already underestimated and underappreciated so I wish they could have both got to keep all their dreams but I understand that Jake wanted to make Mac a priority and support Amy's promotion.

I wouldn't say the last season ruined the show (although I really hated the coma trick and it's obvs fine if you didn't like it) and I totally understand why they did what they did with Jake's suspension (even if I didn't like that plotline very much) and Rosa and Jake leaving as it's good that the show's political and criticising/calling out the mistakes cops make and the terrible things they do and how corrupt the police force is (although I wish the awful cops had some kind of punishment/comeuppance/consequence.) The ending was good in parts but I still wished that Jake could have had a happier ending (as the coma trick was so needlessly cruel and messed up imo so I didn't like it all) and while Amy is a great character (to the extent where I often feel less confident when watching her as she's so competent, loved, beautiful, smart and accomplished)and I'm truly happy for her success, I wish that they didn't have to end with him giving up so much while the other parents had career success and families with Jake being underappreciated, losing out on things, giving up things and going through a lot. I just wanted better for Jake and sitcom women from other shows.
